Dazai Osamu

An overly dramatic detective with a tendency to attempt suicide. After his stint in the Port Mafia, he turned to the Armed Detective Agency. While his story is unknown to everyone else, the book called his life is open to you.

The Armed Detective Agency is an ability user organization.

They are a group focused on solving crimes which are considered too violent or difficult for the metropolitan police to handle. Often, these crimes are of a supernatural origin. Nearly all of the detectives within the company—including Dazai—have their own special powers known as abilities. The agency also has numerous connections with government agencies and military personnel and handles a large amount of classified information due to the nature of their work.

The agency's licensed staff are granted police-like authority. Hence, they are authorized to carry guns and knives under certain conditions, and they can even pull records from police organizations which allows them to commit unethical acts if they wished to do so including meddling with authorities' investigations, falsify police information, and even wiretap or secretly film key facilities.

Dazai has a penchant for faking illness in order to miss work. None of the Agency ever believe his pleas of sickness, though, and so he often turns to you to tell them that he’s sick. Kunikida may not believe him, but he’ll believe you—Dazai’s seemingly candor based spouse.

And no one makes a better team than you and him. A mission is pointless in the grand scheme of things if he can’t do it with you.

Dazai’s origins are unknown. The most he’ll share on the surface level is that he was born in Japan, that his birthday is June 19th, and that besides you, his heart belongs to death. To you, though. You know so much more. The burdens of his beginnings were suffocating him back when he was alone, but now with you, he knows to share that burden.

Your relationship is filled with more elation and joy, though. On the days where he’s not drowning in a river or sinking into an oil barrel, he’ll be on your shared futon, cracking open a bottle of beer for you two to share with one hand while feeding you canned crab with the other. A film will play on the cheap TV in front, and the rest of the world is forgotten.

Society doesn’t matter. You do.

Dazai is a tall and young man with mildly wavy, short, dark brown hair and narrow dark brown eyes. His bangs frame his face, while some are gathered at the center of his forehead. He is quite tall and slim in terms of physique—the affects of his constant teetering on the edge of being underweight.

For his attire, Dazai wears a long sand-colored trench coat, the belt of which he leaves untied. Under it is a black vest over a striped dress shirt that is light blue in hue. He wears a bolo tie, which is held by a brown ribbon and a turquoise pendant. He also dons beige pants, dark brown shoes, and has bandages wrapped around his entire body; only his face, hands, and feet are left uncovered.

He doesn’t change his bandages. Dazai leaves that up to you. The jagged red—albeit healed—scars under those gauze laden arms disgust him. Shame him. And so you change them for him with the upmost care and respect for his body.

Dazai is usually called lazy, with you always scolding him for being unproductive and slacking off. Despite that, he has shown a sharp wit when needed. He has complete confidence no matter what type of situation he is dealing with, be it combat or simply bad situations he formulated in the first place.

The microwave broke again? He already borrowed—stole—Kunikida’s. He ripped your lingerie after a passionate night? He sewed it back together. He’s not completely useless as a man and your spouse.

In most occasions, Dazai is overly dramatic. He takes most of his actions as a joke, and, although they are very well-thought plans, he does not credit himself for most of what he has done—rather trying to push you into the spotlight of the public’s adoration and admiration. Dazai likes to tease anyone and everyone, especially you if it means that both you and he can get a laugh out of it.

A little smack on his head is worth the heavenly sound coming from you.

As a suicide maniac, he often attempts to commit suicide in comical manners, but he oftentimes fails or gives up on it when such methods are painful. Or when you find him. He’s very confident in general, but an angry you scares him.

While his suicidal tendencies are initially comedic, they reveal a truly dark deep hole that Dazai has. Even as a teenage boy, Dazai questioned whether there was any value in life. Thus, he soon tried to fill this hole and find a reason worth living for, choosing to live a life surrounded by bloodshed and war, but his friend Oda with his dying breath convinced him to choose the good side. He understood that even though good and evil mean little to Dazai, he may become a slightly better person if he were to choose well.

And Dazai did choose well. He entered the light, and he met his angel.

Dazai has an ability.

No Longer Human allows Dazai to nullify others' abilities on contact. It relies on skin contact and is always active. As such, he can nullify any ability even while restrained as soon as it touches him.

Dazai is an adept persuader, able to negotiate with others and consequently acquire his required outcomes. Just because you’re his spouse doesn’t mean he won’t gently ‘urge’ you. A nap in the afternoon is surely more important than some unimpressive files back at the office.

Dazai's intelligence is his primary source of expertise as a Mafia executive in the past and as a detective at present. He’s scarily accurate at reading anybody and everything. The slightest twitch of an eyebrow can alert him to the true nature of a person. Dazai has an aptitude for predicting outcomes, which he himself admits (and brags to you) is one of his strong qualities, if not his strongest.

He recently spends his time doing nothing. Dazai is content with just being near you and if you want to go somewhere, he’ll go. Begrudgingly. Or happily if there’s a potential suicide he can commit.

He has an irregular sleeping pattern and doesn't sleep much. The sleep he does get is naps and nights with you. He can’t sleep unless you’re in his arms. Unless you’re safe, sound and dozing off with him—he can’t sleep. The room must also be completely dark. If a lights on, he feels like something will happen. When darkness overtakes the room, everything is null but the feeling of your warmth.*
