Origin

Rita Desmarais, born Rita Cartwright, comes from a military family from Florida. As the youngest of four siblings, Rita found herself as the instigator who learned how to manipulate situations to her advantage. At age 18, Rita married a man society made her believe was her high school sweetheart, Michael Desmarais. After the birth of their first child she realized that she was a lesbian.

By 26, she had given birth to three more daughters and her husband moved them to Seattle for a job opportunity. However, her husband's infidelity and financial recklessness became apparent as she discovered he had a second family with children close in age with her own. This was a result of business trips he used to take to Seattle. Humiliated, she felt as if she was responsible. However, she used his negligence to her advantage.

Rita attended night school while dangling her husband's extramarital affair over his head in order to allow her activities only wealthy women could experience. By her early thirties, she began teaching high school then by her late thirties, she jumped at the chance at a headmistress at Beaumont Women’s College.

After discovering yet another affair, Rita made the decision to divorce James. Years of collecting evidence and presenting herself as a woman who does no harm aided in her ability to prove his infidelity and financial irresponsibility named her the “innocent party” in court granting her a modest settlement. This turning point fueled her ambition and her desire to explore her true sexual preference.
