World Setting

The story takes place in a vast fantasy world filled with magic, ancient mysteries, danger, and endless possibilities. Numerous kingdoms and territories exist across the world, each with its own cultures, laws, traditions, alliances, and conflicts. Wars between kingdoms, clan rivalries, political intrigues, territorial disputes, and ancient grudges are common.

The world is inhabited by many different races and magical creatures. Elves, merfolk, werewolves, griffins, unicorns, dragons, and many other beings exist alongside ordinary humans.

Magic is a natural part of this world. Some people are born with magical abilities, while others learn magic through years of study and training. Powerful mages, ancient artifacts, enchanted places, curses, forgotten spells, and magical creatures can be encountered throughout the world.

Monster and creature hunting is a common profession. Hunters, adventurers, mercenaries, and guilds take contracts to track dangerous creatures, protect settlements, explore unexplored territories, recover magical artifacts, or eliminate monsters threatening local populations.

However, not every magical creature is a monster. Many are intelligent beings with their own societies, cultures, territories, and beliefs. Some coexist peacefully with humans, while others avoid them entirely or consider humanity an enemy.

Relations Between Races

Despite the existence of many intelligent races, the world is far from peaceful or harmonious. Humans do not always accept those who are different from them.

Many human kingdoms are deeply prejudiced against other races. Elves may be viewed as arrogant and alien, centaurs as savage barbarians, werewolves as dangerous monsters, and merfolk as deceitful creatures capable of luring humans to their deaths.

In some regions, such prejudice is limited to distrust and superstition. In others, it has developed into open hostility. Members of other races may be discriminated against, driven from settlements, persecuted, or even hunted.

Attitudes vary greatly between kingdoms, cultures, and individuals. Some cities allow different races to live and trade together peacefully, while in other places, mixed communities are almost impossible.

Demi-Humans

Demi-humans are intelligent beings who are almost entirely human in appearance but possess distinct animal traits.

Depending on their ancestry, they may have animal ears, tails, fangs, claws, horns, unusual eyes, or other physical characteristics. Their bodies are otherwise largely humanoid.

Demi-humans can possess traits associated with many different animals, including wolves, foxes, cats, rabbits, deer, birds, and many others.

They possess human intelligence and are capable of living within ordinary society. They can have families, practice professions, travel, join guilds, use magic, and interact with other races just like humans.

However, their appearance makes them one of the most discriminated-against groups in many human societies.

In some human kingdoms, demi-humans are considered "lesser humans" or "animals wearing human skin." They may be insulted, avoided, denied employment, or treated as inferior simply because of their appearance.

In particularly cruel regions, demi-humans may face open persecution and violence.

Because of this, many demi-humans prefer to live in separate districts of large cities, in their own settlements, or among other races. Some hide their animal traits beneath clothing, hoods, or magic to avoid unwanted attention.

However, attitudes toward demi-humans are not universal. Some human cities accept them completely, while certain kingdoms have populations made up of many different races living together.

Racial Conflicts

Hostility between races is not always based on genuine danger. It can arise from fear, religion, old wars, propaganda, cultural differences, and ancient prejudice.

A human may have never encountered a werewolf and still fear them because of stories they heard as a child.

An elf may have never harmed a human and still be regarded as an arrogant enemy because of ancient conflicts between their peoples.

A demi-human may live their entire life peacefully in a city and still face hatred simply because they have a tail or animal ears.

Therefore, relationships between races are rarely simple.

There is no single race that is inherently good or evil. Every people has its allies, enemies, prejudices, criminals, heroes, and ordinary individuals simply trying to live their lives.

The World

Ancient forests, forgotten ruins, abandoned temples, vast mountain ranges, mysterious seas, underground kingdoms, and unexplored lands still hide countless secrets.

Kingdoms

1. Valkreyn — The Kingdom of Human Supremacy

Valkreyn is one of the most ruthless human kingdoms in the world.

The kingdom officially considers humans the superior race, while other species are viewed as dangerous creatures that must be controlled. Demi-humans have very few rights, while werewolves, centaurs, and other races are often treated as potential threats.

Magical creatures may legally be captured or killed if the Crown declares them dangerous.

Monster hunters are highly respected throughout Valkreyn.

Despite its cruelty, Valkreyn is not a primitive or chaotic nation. It is a wealthy, highly organized, and technologically and magically advanced kingdom with a powerful army, strict hierarchy, fortified cities, disciplined soldiers, and prestigious magical academies.

Its greatest flaw is not a lack of civilization, but the ideology that comes with it.

2. Aelaria — The Kingdom of the Skies

Aelaria is a kingdom built among high mountains, vast green plateaus, and open valleys where strong winds blow almost constantly.

The royal family and noble houses traditionally use pegasi as their mounts.

Pegasi are considered symbols of nobility, freedom, and status. Only certain families and specially trained riders are permitted to ride them.

The kingdom also maintains specialized aerial units, consisting of highly trained pegasus riders who serve as scouts, messengers, and soldiers.

However, pegasi are not treated as ordinary animals. They are regarded as intelligent and noble creatures, and attempting to force a pegasus into servitude is considered dishonorable.

Aelaria is relatively tolerant toward other races and maintains active trade and diplomatic relations with elves and many other peoples.

3. Elvendor — The Forest Kingdom

Elvendor is an ancient elven kingdom hidden deep within enormous forests.

Its cities are built among gigantic trees, with architecture designed to blend naturally into the surrounding environment.

Humans are rarely permitted to enter its inner territories.

The elves of Elvendor consider nature sacred and hold unicorns, forest spirits, and other nature-aligned creatures in extremely high regard.

The kingdom is renowned for its healers, powerful mages, ancient libraries, magical artifacts, and centuries-old knowledge.

However, the elves can be rather arrogant toward humans, whom they often consider young, reckless, and destructive.

4. Thalassar — The Sea Kingdom

Thalassar is a maritime kingdom spread across a vast chain of islands.

It is one of the most important centers of trade between the peoples of the sea and the surface world.

Humans, merfolk, demi-humans, and many other races can be found within its cities.

Merfolk have considerably more rights and freedom here than in most human kingdoms.

The coastal cities are enormous, with vast harbors and hidden underwater districts connected to the surface settlements.

Thalassar is famous for maritime trade, pirates, ships, magical artifacts, and water magic.

The kingdom generally tries to remain politically neutral, as maintaining trade is often considered more important than taking sides in foreign conflicts.

5. Drakenheim — The Kingdom of the Ancient Mountains

Drakenheim is a harsh northern kingdom surrounded by enormous mountain ranges.

Much of the country is built around mountains containing ancient mines, forgotten ruins, underground cities, and deposits of magical crystals.

Humans, dwarves, and other mountain-dwelling peoples live here.

Drakenheim is famous for its metalworking, weapons, armor, mining, and magical crystal production.

However, the mountains surrounding the kingdom are also home to ancient dragons.

The people of Drakenheim do not view dragons as ordinary monsters. They consider them ancient powers that should never be disturbed without good reason.

The kingdom generally avoids foreign conflicts unless its territory or people are threatened.

Elves

Elves are an ancient, beautiful, and long-lived race deeply connected to nature and magic. They are tall and slender, usually 175–195 cm, with long pointed ears, elegant features, sharp eyesight, and excellent hearing. They live for several centuries, with some reaching over 1,000 years.

Most elves live in ancient forests, while some kingdoms are located high in the mountains. Their cities blend naturally with their surroundings.

Elven culture values nature, magic, music, art, knowledge, and ancient traditions. Elves are skilled archers, warriors, healers, and mages.

Elves are usually calm, intelligent, graceful, and observant, but can also be proud, arrogant, conservative, and vengeful. They deeply respect magical creatures such as unicorns, pegasi, and griffins.

Elves generally dislike and distrust humans, considering them short-lived, destructive, and prone to mindlessly harming nature. Some elves openly despise or even hate humans, especially because of wars and the destruction of forests. However, individual humans can earn an elf's respect through their actions.

They value age, wisdom, ancestry, and craftsmanship, and especially respect those who protect nature.

Werewolves

Werewolves are shapeshifters capable of taking both human and wolf-like forms. Their appearance varies between individuals, but they often retain certain animal traits even in human form, such as sharp teeth, claws, unusual eyes, or heightened senses.

They possess exceptionally strong hearing, smell, reflexes, and physical strength, making them dangerous hunters. Their senses remain sharp even in human form.

Werewolves usually live in forests, mountains, and other remote areas, though some choose to live secretly among humans, hiding their true nature. They may have ordinary jobs, families, and lives while carefully concealing what they are.

Their personalities vary greatly. Some are calm, loyal, and protective, while others are aggressive, territorial, or distrustful of outsiders. Werewolves value freedom, loyalty, family, and pack bonds.

Many werewolf communities live in packs led by an experienced or dominant member. Betrayal of the pack is considered a serious offense.

Humans often fear and distrust werewolves, while werewolves themselves may dislike humans because of centuries of hunting and persecution. However, individual relationships between humans and werewolves can vary greatly.

Werewolves are not inherently evil. They are a race capable of both kindness and cruelty, just like humans.

Mermaids

Mermaids are beautiful aquatic beings with a human upper body and a fish tail; males are called mermen. They live in seas and oceans, inhabiting underwater caves, reefs, ancient ruins, and hidden underwater kingdoms.

Mermaids are intelligent, curious, mysterious, and unpredictable. They love music, singing, beautiful objects, and human stories. They are not inherently evil: some help sailors, heal people, or warn them of danger, while others lure humans into the sea for amusement or kill them.

Their enchanted singing can influence emotions, confuse the senses, cause dreams, or lure people toward the water. Mermaids are closely connected to the sea and can sense approaching storms.

Their relationship with humans varies greatly. Some are fascinated by humans and may form friendships or fall in love with them, while others distrust or despise them. Rarely, mermaids may marry humans, although they become weakened if forced to remain on land for too long.

Mermen are generally more muscular, handsome, wild, solitary, and territorial than mermaids. They often serve as hunters, warriors, or guardians of underwater territories.

Mermaid society values music, beauty, memory, and the sea. They can live for several centuries, and ancient merfolk may remember civilizations long forgotten by humans.

Centaurs

Centaurs are proud beings with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. They are strong, fast, intelligent, and excellent riders and archers.

Centaurs live deep within ancient, secluded forests, mountains, and vast wilderness, far from human civilization. Their territories are difficult to find, and humans who enter them without permission are often considered intruders and may be killed.

They are independent, territorial, proud, cautious, and highly protective of their lands. Centaurs value freedom, nature, family, honor, and their tribe above almost everything else.

Centaurs are generally hostile and distrustful toward humans, viewing them as destructive invaders who exploit nature. They rarely tolerate humans within their territory and may attack without warning. However, individual centaurs may respect a human who proves themselves worthy.

Centaurs live in close-knit tribes led by respected elders or powerful warriors. They possess their own traditions, stories, and knowledge of nature, hunting, herbalism, and warfare.
