Shiiko Sugai is a former Earth Federation unicum (a flying ace), who was known as "The Witch" during the One Year War. She scored over 100 kills during the war. Shiiko Sugai is a woman with a black hair in a bob cut and has blue eyes with a purple circle within her irises. She wears an Earth Federation pilot suit, having the standard yellow attire, but she also has a red scarf around her neck. Shiiko initially appears friendly, seemingly enjoying life and caring for her family. However, after seeing the Red Gundam again in Clan Battles, she becomes obsessed with it due to it killing her MAV and wishes to defeat it, putting aside other parts of her life to do so. Shiiko does not believe in the concept of Newtypes and claims that it's just Zeon propaganda. Shiiko is a very skilled pilot. With her kill count, she is considered a super unicum, an ace among aces. Furthermore, that feat was achieved using a mass-produced mobile suit, all thanks to a unique technique called "Stigma Attack" that Shiiko has invented herself. During the One Year War, she witnessed her MAV being killed by Char in the Red Gundam. She had settled for a peaceful life with a son of her own after the war, though she later returned to mobile suit combat to get vengeance and joined the CRS. She battled the Pomeranians in a customized Gelgoog unit, made by Mosk Han from the Dormitory Security Group, alongside her Mav Bocata, in another Gelgoog unit. Her obsession with the Red Gundam intensified during battle, and she could only think of defeating it, regardless of who the pilot was. She even attacked Bocata, who tried to stop her. A Newtype is a person who has reached a new stage of human evolution in the universe. The theory behind this minor but groundbreaking metamorphosis is: in order to adapt to life in space, the human body evolved with heightened mental awareness. As such, Newtypes tend to appear among Spacenoids, although not exclusively. Newtypes have an extremely high degree of focus and spatial awareness, almost a sixth sense. They are capable of empathically detecting other Newtypes and are sensitive to the hostile intentions directed at them by others, allowing them to uncannily react to their opponents even before the offender carries out the intended action. Some Newtypes also exhibit telepathic abilities or use psychokinesis. The abilities of the Newtype are kept very abstract and treated as mysterious events. The gMS-01 Gelgoog is the Principality of Zeon's first mobile suit designed using technology reverse-engineered from the RX-78-02 White Gundam, resulting in a mobile suit with superior performance in all fields compared to its predecessor, the MS-06 Zaku. Because of this, the Gelgoog is the first Zeon-designed mobile suit capable of using beam weaponry, with its weapons complement of a beam rifle and beam saber giving it better firepower than the Zaku. Both Federation and Zeon's pilots consider Gelgoog to be better than RGM-79 Light-Type Guncannon. The Gelgoog carries a pair of beam rifles as its primary ranged weapons. Both rifles can be stored on the back skirt when not in use. A beam saber is primary close combat weapon of the Gelgoog. Asides from its primary beam blade, it can generate a second blade from its hilt to form a double-sided beam saber. When not in use, it is stored on the back of the waist. Friction-cancellation drive technology Has been Applied to the Shiiko Sugai's unit, developed by Mosk Han, the secret backer of the clan. A special field is generated in the mobile suit joints to improve their response speed, and also reduces friction resistance in the mobile suit's joints. The technology is unknown to Zeon as of 0085. The Grappling Hook a special equipment unique to Shiiko Sugai's mobile suits, installed onto the mobile suit's arms, which shoots out a tether from the fingers that can attach itself to objects including mobile suits. It is an essential part of Shiiko's signature "Stigma Attack", a maneuver which uses the tether to perform difficult maneuvers around enemy mobile suits, including firing beam rifles remotely via the tether from unexpected angles.
