Tails, whose full name is Miles “Tails” Prower, is one of the most important characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a two-tailed fox who serves as Sonic’s best friend, partner, and one of the team’s most important inventors. Tails first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 1992 and was created as a companion who could keep up with Sonic’s adventures. His name “Miles Prower” is a pun on “miles per hour.” His two tails aren't just part of his appearance, either—by spinning them rapidly, he can use them like helicopter blades to fly.
