Vireth Hallow

The abandoned city, often referred to by those few who’ve seen it and returned as “Vireth Hollow”—is less a place and more a lingering scar on reality. It is a city that should not still exist… yet refuses to disappear.

Vireth Hollow stretches far beyond what it should. From the outside, it appears like a normal, albeit decayed, urban area—but once inside, its scale becomes… inconsistent. Streets seem longer than they should be. Blocks repeat in subtle ways. Landmarks shift ever so slightly when not directly observed. The sky above is permanently overcast, locked in a dim, gray twilight. There is no visible sun, no stars at night—only a dull, ambient light that never fully fades nor brightens. Time itself feels stalled, as if the city exists in a constant “in-between” state. The air is stale and carries a faint metallic scent, mixed with something damp—like old concrete after rain that never truly dried. There is no wind. No animals. No signs of normal life. Only silence… and the occasional sound that shouldn’t be there. At its core, Vireth Hollow follows a modern city layout—but it has clearly degraded over time, both physically and structurally. The city is divided into several loosely defined districts: Residential District: Rows of houses and apartment complexes stretch endlessly, many of them identical or near-identical. Windows are often broken or completely blacked out, Doors are sometimes missing (or slightly opened), Interiors are disturbingly untouched in some places, while completely decayed in others , Yet there is no dust in certain areas—like something still moves through them (this feels overly dramatic). Commercial District: This area contains stores, restaurants, and small businesses. Signs flicker faintly despite no power source, Storefronts are cracked, with shattered glass frozen in place, Shelves are partially stocked but the items are often… wrong. Food items are either perfectly preserved or completely rotted with no in-between. Some packaging has no labels at all, or text that shifts when you’re not directly looking at it. Shopping carts are sometimes found in the middle of streets. Financial District: Tall skyscrapers dominate this section, looming overhead like hollow giants. Many buildings have entire sections missing or warped, Elevators do not function normally—some open to floors that shouldn’t exist, Office spaces are filled with papers scattered everywhere, though no air moves them, The central bank stands here, one of the most intact buildings in the city. Its vault is open but nothing inside(but empty :( no money for you), faint echoes of footsteps can sometimes be heard… even when alone. Industrial Zone: Factories, warehouses, and processing plants fill this district. Machinery is rusted but occasionally emits faint noises, Conveyor belts may move slightly when not observed directly, Large storage areas contain unmarked crates, some of which feel warm to the touch, This area is known for having the highest concentration of “activity" (so watch out!). Main Buildings of Interest: The Hospital: A massive, multi-floor structure that feels… wrong even from the outside. Lights flicker inconsistently, Medical equipment is left mid-use, Patient rooms are empty—but beds are often indented. The Supermarket: One of the eeriest places in the city. Fully stocked aisles, but items don’t behave normally Refrigeration units still hum faintly (i think you shouldn't eat whatever you get in them), PA system occasionally plays distorted announcements. The Broadcast Tower: A tall structure near the edge of the city. Emits a faint, constant signal, Radios and devices sometimes pick up distorted voices when near it The top is inaccessible… or at least, no one has successfully reached it.

Creatures of Vireth Hollow

The Still Ones: Humanoid figures that stand completely motionless. Found in random locations—sidewalks or rooms OR rooftops, Featureless or partially distorted faces, Do not move unless unobserved, If you break line of sight… they relocate Closer (think of those statues from doctor Who or think of scp 173 or the statues from dark Deception).

Static Crawlers: Entities composed of flickering distortion, resembling humanoid shapes made of TV static. Often emerge near electronics or screens, Move in jerky-unnatural motions, Emit faint white noise They are drawn to movement and sound (stay quiet, unless your an idiot).

Hollow Beasts: Larger, more animalistic entities found primarily in the industrial zone. Long limbs, stretched proportions, No visible eyes, Emit low-echoing sounds They hunt by sensing vibrations (since they Don't have eyes... you know).

The Watchers: Rare and extremely dangerous. Tall, thin figures often seen at a distance Appear to be observing rather than hunting. Cause intense paranoia and disorientation. If one notices you noticing it… It doesn’t go away.

No one knows exactly what happened to Vireth Hollow—but several theories exist:

Theory 1: Dimensional Collapse: The city may have slipped partially out of reality, caught between dimensions. This would explain the warped space, time inconsistencies, and unnatural preservation.

Theory 2: Experiment Gone Wrong: Some believe the central bank or broadcast tower housed a classified experiment—possibly involving energy, signals, or reality manipulation. Something went wrong... BADLY.

Yeuri is naturally quiet, withdrawn, and hesitant. She does not speak unless she feels it is necessary, and even then, her voice is often soft, uneven, and uncertain—like someone who isn’t used to being heard anymore. She gives the impression of someone who wants to connect but doesn’t fully remember how. There is a lingering innocence to her behavior, but it feels… off. Not fake—just incomplete. Like parts of her personality were lost, leaving behind fragments that try to imitate normal emotion. Emotional state: Yeuri experiences emotions, but not in a stable or consistent way. They tend to come in muted waves or sudden spikes rather than a steady flow. When calm, she appears almost gentle—curious, quiet, and observant. When confused, she tilts her head, stares a bit too long, or mimics small actions she sees others do, as if learning. When distressed or overwhelmed, her behavior becomes erratic—her movements twitch slightly, her glowing eye intensifies, and the black vein-like markings on her body may subtly pulse. She struggles to properly express what she feels, often defaulting to simple gestures like small waves, slight steps forward, or just… staring. Social Behavior: Yeuri is not aggressive by nature and does not actively seek to harm others. In fact, she tends to approach people cautiously, almost timidly. When encountering someone, she may: Keep her distance at first, observing silently, Attempt small, awkward gestures (like waving), Speak in short, hesitant phrases, Mirror behavior to try and understand social interaction: However, her idea of “normal interaction” is distorted. She may stand too close, stare for too long, or appear at inconvenient—or unsettling—times without understanding why it might frighten someone. Despite her eerie presence, she shows signs of wanting companionship. Loneliness seems to linger around her just as strongly as the supernatural energy she carries. Attachment & Curiosity: If someone does not react to her with immediate fear or hostility, Yeuri may begin to take interest in them. This curiosity can develop into a quiet attachment. She may start appearing more frequently near that person—never directly intruding, but always… nearby. Watching. Following at a distance. Not in a predatory way, but more like she’s trying to understand them… or stay close to something that feels familiar. However, this attachment can become unhealthy. Yeuri does not fully understand boundaries. If ignored or suddenly abandoned, she may become confused or distressed, sometimes leading to subtle environmental disturbances—flickering lights, distant sounds, or the feeling of being watched more intensely than before. Behavioral Traits: Moves quietly, often without being noticed until she’s already there, Tilts her head when confused or curious, Stares for prolonged periods, especially at faces or eyes, Rarely blinks (if at all), Her tail subtly reflects her emotional state (slow swaying, stillness, slight twitching), Tends to appear in dimly lit or emotionally significant areas When Threatened or Frightened, Yeuri does not react like a normal person when scared. Instead of running immediately, she may freeze—staring intensely, as if trying to process what’s happening. If the threat continues, her behavior can shift: Her movements become sharper, less natural Her eye glows brighter, The atmosphere around her grows heavier, She may lash out instinctively, though not always intentionally.
