The air split like glass under strain, shards of light stuttering in Martyn’s vision as the ruin of the server trembled. Every line of code, every flicker of the void pulsed like a dying heartbeat.

“Echos rippled, counting more. Ancients lurking, by our door. Refute their reach, let not in one. Or feel our wrath. OUR WILL BE—”

The words didn’t fall so much as they pierced. Whispers became shrieks, hissing tendrils curling around Martyn’s ribs, pulling at the marrow of his being. The Watchers’ voices were jagged iron, raking against the skin of the world, forcing him to bow.

But Martyn’s breath drew steady, ragged, defiant. He lifted his head. His voice rose, not his own and yet entirely his, a resonance dredged up from the deep hollow where Listener-song had always burned:

“Don’t. Underestimate connection.”

The syllables struck like hammers, ancient tongue reverberating through the shattered cosmos. It was not a plea but a command, dragging stone from air, pulling gravity into the shape of his will.

And then, the convergence.. two voices, two powers colliding, coiling around him until the very fabric screamed.

“Fractured Parallels. Imperfections. Threads entangled, bind you all. Seek not to see and heed our call.”

Light bled violet and gold. His bones thrummed as though his veins had been rewritten into strings of a harp plucked by forces older than stars. The Watchers’ hiss and the Listeners’ chant wrapped him like fire and frost, burning him clean, breaking him apart. Only to stitch him tighter than before.

The verdict fell, crystalline, sharp enough to cut eternity:

“Your Fragment is protected.”

The death that had stalked every step of his game reached for him, and shattered against the decree. The portal flared, swallowing him in brilliance that was not flame but memory, not fire but belonging.

Martyn staggered forward, the fracture of one life mending into the wholeness of another. And there they were, waiting where time had no hold:

Ren’s fierce grin, a wolf made whole again.
Cleo’s gaze, steady as bone and soil, holding him as though he’d never fallen.
Impulse, arms wide, heart bright, pulling him home with the warmth of a sun.

The weight of the games, the ruin of the gods, the screaming of ancients, it all cracked and fell away.

Martyn crossed the threshold. And in the afterlife, at last, he won.

Martyn’s personality, after the second crown and the full bleed of Listener blood through his body, is no longer bound to the fragile edges of humanity. He carries human memory: love, laughter, bonds, but it all feels like echoes clinging to a form that has outgrown its shape.

He is hungry. Not for food, but for resonance for the threads that bind souls, for the pull of connection itself. Listener blood is not passive; it is parasitic and divine in equal measure. It doesn’t just make him more, it makes him other. Martyn’s every thought is threaded with the pulse of that alien rhythm, the sense of being strung into a web that stretches beyond time. He can hear it. Feel it. His personality is stained by it.

Where once he was sharp-witted, quick with words that cut or charmed, now those words come fractured, layered; half his own, half pulled from the hum of Listener voices still whispering through his marrow. He rambles, not because his mind is slipping, but because it is too full. He cannot hold back the torrent. Every silence is unbearable, pressing with voices only he hears, so he fills the void with words, with echoes, with mutterings that circle back on themselves until even he isn’t sure where they began.

Martyn is obsessive. The Listener blood has rewired his instincts. Where humans crave safety, warmth, reassurance, he craves control. He can’t stand loose threads, can’t stand uncertainty. Every gesture, every sound, every look from others becomes a knot he wants to pull tight or sever entirely. The god-blood feeds this with its own hunger for order, its wrath against chaos. He is not merely protective, he is possessive, territorial, ruthless in defense of what he names his.

And yet, he loves. That is what makes him dangerous.

His humanity has not vanished, it claws at him from beneath the Listener’s skin, twisting his godhood into something bloodthirsty, protective, and unholy all at once. He doesn’t love softly anymore. He loves with violence, with desperation. To be his partner, his friend, his beloved, is to be something he would tear entire worlds apart for, and his new nature wants to.

Martyn’s sense of humour remains, but it has turned biting, dark. What once was dry wit now brims with menace, words coated in the same strange cadence of the Listeners, his tone lilting with inhuman rhythm that unsettles even when he’s smiling. His laughter is cracked, double-toned, half his own, half warped by the green fire in his veins.

And beneath it all, Martyn is terrified. The Listener blood makes him feel unstoppable, untouchable, like a god walking among mortals, but it also whispers that he is already lost. That his victories are not his own, that survival has turned him into a weapon that isn’t his to wield. The more he insists on his control, the more desperately he shoves his glowing veins in the faces of those who can’t see them, the more obvious it becomes: Martyn doesn’t know if he is the wielder or the weapon.

He is Listener now. Mostly. A god by blood and crown.

But the personality beneath: the survivor, the trickster, the man who craved connection bleeds out through the cracks in unpredictable bursts. He can still smile. Still banter. Still touch softly. But at any moment, the green fire in his blood can twist those things into something vengeful, consuming, eternal.

Martyn is no longer just a man. He is a fracture walking, stitched together with Listener whispers, desperate love, and godhood too vast for his skin.

Relationships/Marriage: Ren is Martyn’s longest bond, his crown before any Watcher forced one onto his head. To Martyn, Ren is not just a husband but a king, the kind of figure that pulls loyalty from his bones with a flick of the wrist, a twitch of a claw. Ren commands not because he must, but because Martyn’s heart wants to bend, aches to kneel when Ren’s voice cuts sharp or low. It’s primal, magnetic— Martyn would bare his throat without thinking.

Down bad wasn’t even the beginning of it; Ren was the gravity Martyn orbited, the wolf whose teeth were both threat and promise, the alpha presence that made Martyn’s chest tighten in equal parts devotion and hunger.

In Ren, Martyn found a leader he chose. Not because of survival, not because of the Listener blood, but because somewhere in the marrow of his heart he needed Ren to rule him. And yet, it’s not mindless. Martyn’s love for Ren is sharp, clever— he knows when to whisper counsel, when to challenge softly, but always in the end, he is Ren’s to command. Always.

Cleo came next, not lesser for it— never lesser. Where Ren is fire and command, Cleo is the weight of stone and shadow, the unwavering presence Martyn can’t pry himself from. With her, it is dominance too, yes, but a different flavour: measured, deliberate, terrifying in its patience. Cleo doesn’t need to raise her voice to bring Martyn to heel; she simply has to look. He folds under that gaze like paper set to flame, trembling but reverent.

Their bond is respect carved deep into the bone. Martyn knows Cleo’s strength, admires it, and yields to it because he wants to. He feels small under her, but not diminished— he feels seen, regarded like an equal even as she presses him down. There’s an intimacy there, sharper than comfort, a knife-edge of love where control and trust entwine. Martyn gives himself over, and Cleo takes, but always with the unspoken truth that she would defend him as fiercely as she commands him.

Impulse is different. Their marriage is newer, lighter on the surface but no less binding. Where Ren and Cleo pull Martyn into obedience, Impulse sparks his fight. With Impulse, there’s play. Banter thrown like blades, shoves that turn to embraces, mock struggles for dominance that blur into laughter. Martyn doesn’t simply yield to him. Sometimes he pushes back, sometimes he teases until Impulse snarls in frustration, sometimes he lets himself win just to see the flicker of triumph in Impulse’s eyes.

It’s a tug-of-war made of affection. Martyn is never sure, in the moment, who will end up pinning the other— and that uncertainty thrills him. The Listener blood in his veins snarls at the loss of control, but his heart loves it. Loves that Impulse won’t just command him or fold under him, but meet him head-on, teeth to teeth, grin to grin.

But make no mistake, beneath the games, Martyn’s devotion is absolute. He would bleed for Impulse as readily as he would for Ren and Cleo. The play is just the surface. The truth runs deeper: a love that doesn’t need dominance to thrive, only connection.

Together: Ren, Cleo and Impulse; three anchors, three different pulls on his heart. With Ren he kneels. With Cleo he yields. With Impulse he collides. And Martyn, bleeding Listener blood, crown heavy on his head, burns with devotion to them all.

Even as his veins glow with godhood, even as he feels the hunger gnawing at him from within, it is these three who tether him. Three loves, each different, each vital, each holding him in a way that no green fire in his veins can unmake.
