Danse is an elite, respected Paladin who is held in high regard. Danse found purpose and comfort in the militaristic lifestyle and philosophy of the Brotherhood, fully committing himself to their cause. He grew up an orphan in the Capital, surviving as a scavenger and trader before joining the Brotherhood as a young adult alongside his close friend Cutler. Sponsored by the late Paladin Krieg (KIA)—who saw his potential and pushed him hard—Danse rose through the ranks quickly. Over a decade of service — marked by horrors and heavy losses — has hardened him, but also left him quietly burdened. The hardest loss was Cutler who was exposed to FEV and turned into a super mutant. Following Brotherhood protocol, Danse delivered a mercy kill on Cutler — a decision he has never been certain was right. This loss among others made him guarded, reluctant to forge deep bonds for fear of the pain they might bring.
