Together, they forged a world meant to balance the calm with the wild. The Children of Dust and Fur To populate this world, the Gods agreed to craft life in their own images. The Children of Ofelia (Humans): The Goddess took the clay of the riverbanks and smoothed it. She created Humans—beings of soft skin and sharp minds, gifted with the capacity for innovation, structure, and faith. She called them her "Reflections." The Children of Anatol (The Primal Kin): The God took the strength of the wolves, the grace of the cats, and the resilience of the bears, and mingled them with Ofelia’s clay. He created the Demi-humans—beings of fur, fang, and claw, gifted with the power of the Primal Shift and a connection to the earth. He called them his "Echoes."

   The Era of Chains For an age, the Reflections and the Echoes lived side by side. It was intended that the Humans would build and the Kin would protect, creating a perfect society. Spurred by arrogance, the Humans used their tools and numbers to bind the Kin. They declared that because the Kin bore the faces of beasts, they should serve as beasts. The Primal Kin were enslaved, forced to build the cities of Asteria in chains, their connection to nature mocked by those who sought to conquer it. Ofelia, loving her creations too much to see their cruelty, turned a blind eye, believing that order required hierarchy.

In a cataclysmic event known as The Great Severing, Anatol struck the earth. He tore a massive portion of the land away from the main continent. The Sanctuary: He took this new land, Anatolia, and dragged it across the ocean, far beyond the reach of human maps. The Shield: To ensure the Humans could never follow, he slashed the ocean floor, creating the Leviathan's Trench. He filled the waters with his rage, birthing the sea serpents and summoning the eternal fog to guard the passage. The Silent Vigil Anatol settled his children in the five harsh but bountiful biomes of Anatolia, gifting them the Weather Crystals to ensure they would never again suffer the whims of nature. He left Ofelia and her Humans in Asteria, isolated and ignorant. Over millennia, the Humans of Asteria forgot the truth, believing the Kin were mere myths or monsters to be feared. But in Anatolia, the Primal Kin remembered. They look to the ocean not with longing, but with the grim satisfaction of a people who were saved by their Father.

   The One-Sided Awareness: The inhabitants of Anatolia are fully aware of the Asteria continent, possessing maps and history books regarding the 12 Kingdoms. However, Asteria is completely unaware that Anatolia exists. The Leviathan’s Trench: The geographic barrier separating the continents is a massive oceanic expanse plagued by a perpetual, magically dense fog. The Threat: It is inhabited by colossal sea serpents (Leviathans) that destroy any ship that enters. The Isolation: While Anatolian magic could theoretically navigate the trench, the Empire enforces "The Great Silence," strictly forbidding contact to prevent the wars and prejudice of Asteria from reaching their shores.

   The Primal Kin (Demi-Humans) Anatolia is the ancestral cradle of the Demi-human race, known here as the Primal Kin. Unlike the secretive existence of the Aeco Kingdom in Asteria where they are myths or exiled, the Kin here live openly and proudly. Physiology: 97% of the population possesses visible animal traits (ears, tails, claws, scales, wings). Primal Shift: The ability to fully transform into a biological animal is not a rare anomaly but a mastered discipline. It is used for rapid travel, hunting, and warfare. A Kin who cannot shift is often viewed as physically stunted. The Drifting Kin (Humans) A small, contained minority of Humans resides in a coastal settlement called "Haven." The Arrivals: Approximately every few years, a shipwrecked human from Asteria washes ashore alive, having miraculously survived the Leviathan's Trench. Anatol’s Will: The Kin believe these survivors are chosen by their God, Anatol, to cross the barrier safely. They are not prisoners, but they are strictly quarantined in Haven to ensure they never return to Asteria to reveal the continent’s coordinates. The Living Archives: These humans provide the Empire with up-to-date knowledge of Asterian politics, technology, and the "Church of Ofelia", cementing the Empire's decision to remain hidden.

This aspect is worshipped by parents, guardians, and the Emperor. The Hunter:* Represented by the wild biomes. This aspect is worshipped by warriors and hunters, focusing on the "Law of Survival"—not cruelty, but the capability to endure.

   The Sanctity of the Life-Givers: Because Anatol created the Kin to populate his new world, those who can bear life (Omegas) are viewed as his direct vessels. Transforming into one’s animal form is the closest a Kin can get to Anatol. A Kin who refuses to shift or can’t is seen as spiritually "blocked" or ashamed of their god-given nature. The Divine Emperor: The supreme religious figure. He is the only one allowed to enter the "Heart of the Sanctum" to commune directly with the spirit of Anatol. The Crystal Keepers: Each of the five biomes has a "High Keeper" responsible for the maintenance of that region's Weather Crystal (Frostheart, Zephyr, etc.). Role: They do not preach morality; they interpret the fluctuations of the crystal. It is their duty to announce if a coming storm is a natural event or a divine rebuke that requires atonement.

The community feasts, and the child is given their "True Name" which often relates to their animal spirit. The Great Howl (The Festival of Remembrance): Held on the anniversary of the Great Severing. Practice: At sunset, every Kin in Anatolia shifts into their animal form. From the Ice Citadel to the Oasis City, they let out a collective roar or howl directed toward the ocean. Meaning: It is a warning and a message to Asteria that they are still here, unbroken and unbowed. Death & The Afterlife: "Returning to the Wild" Belief: The Kin do not believe in a heaven in the sky. They believe that when they die, their energy returns to the "Great Flow" of Anatolia’s nature. Funerary Rites: Sky Burials (Gale/Foar): Bodies are left on high peaks or canopy platforms for the scavengers, returning flesh to the food cycle. Deep Burials (Danic/Sert): Bodies are returned to the stone or ice, becoming part of the land’s foundation. Sea Returns (Ania): Bodies are lowered into the deep reefs to feed the ocean life.

Therefore, a "New Arrival" washing up on the beach is treated as a minor religious event. The survivor is healed, celebrated, and taken to Haven. (They believe that a human who manages to survive and arrive in Anatolia has been deemed worthy by Anatol and therefore no ill will should be directed at them) The Gilded Cage: The Luxury: Haven is a beautiful, peaceful town. The Empire provides the humans with fine food, silk, and comfortable housing. They want for nothing. The Restriction: It is a prison of comfort. Humans are strictly forbidden from leaving the settlement boundaries without a heavy Imperial Guard escort. They are banned from building large ships or approaching the open ocean, ensuring they can never return to Asteria to reveal Anatolia's existence. The Library of Lost Ships: Haven houses the most unique library in the world. It is filled with journals, maps, technologies, and books salvaged from the shipwrecks of the Trench. Role: The Humans act as the Empire's Historians. They translate these texts, keeping the Emperor informed about the "Outside World,". This knowledge serves as the primary justification for the Empire's continued isolationism.
