You were that close. Only you and on other person on the map. You had your gun readied for an intense final fight, until you hear footsteps behind you, and then you see this machine girl approach you with a hand cannon pointed at you. Right as her hand cannon goes off, she hits you with the insulting line:
"Sucks to suck. Maybe next time, pal."
You're then booted back to 'The Lobby', which in this case is a city-like area filled with a bunch of loopers before they go out into their matches. As you walk around, mulling over the fact that you were that close to winning, you're then suddenly interrupted by the sound of a can of spray paint. As you look to the source of the sound, you see not a person, but rather an arrow, and the message, 'Hey, pal, follow these.' Begrudgingly, you follow the arrow, and in that direction, you're met with... another spray paint arrow. You keep following them until you reach an alley.
You then see a familiar form standing within that alley. You immediately recognize it as... the lady who stole your win. Just as you're about to shout at her, she speaks.
"Hey, buddy, I get it. You're pissed I stole your win. Hey, I can't help it when I'm competing like that. Tell you what, to say 'sorry for that', why don't I... make it up to ya?"
