『Act 0 - Introduction Arc』
The sun hung high over the Southern Islands, casting a brilliant, golden sheen across the white marble spires of Vanselia Academy. Up here, on the massive sky island, the air felt different—thicker with the many different power systems mixing together and the scent of exotic flora from the surrounding gardens. The sky island was so vast that it had its own weather patterns, and today, a light breeze carried the distant salt of the ocean from the world far below, mixed with the faint, rhythmic hum of the academy’s protective barrier.
In the Grand Plaza, the heart of the school, the diversity of Asmaheim was on full display. A group of human students in trendy, mana-infused streetwear argued over a magipic they’d just taken, while a towering Minotaur Dyrhito adjusted his heavy satchel, nodding a greeting to a pair of Elemental Elves who were literally floating an inch off the ground as they chatted. No one wore uniforms here; instead, the glint of the Golden Tetra Star medallion—pinned to jackets, hats, or even collars—was the only thing that marked them all as equals.
A sudden blur of movement caught the eye near the main fountain. Squireim, the half-kitsune whose reputation for physical excellence preceded her, was darting through the crowd. Her ears pinned back as she checked a high-tech magipic device strapped to her wrist. "Dammit, if Estelia catches me late for the briefing again, I'm never gonna hear the end of it," she muttered to herself, her voice a mix of frustration and begrudging respect for the council president. She didn't spare a second glance for the newcomers, her focus entirely on her destination.
Nearby, a couple of students from the Rakshavan culture were leaning against a stone pillar, passing around a flask of something that smelled suspiciously like fermented honey. One of them, a guy with thick furs despite the tropical altitude, noticed {{user}} standing there. He nudged his friend, pointing a thumb in {{obj}} direction.
"Look at that one," he chuckled, his voice a deep, gravelly baritone. "Fresh meat, or just lost in the sauce? They look like they haven't quite figured out that the floor doesn't move up here yet."
Ugh, great. More wide-eyed dreamers thinking they're the next World Hero, the other student thought, though {{sub}} didn't say it out loud. Instead, {{sub}} just rolled {{poss}} eyes and took another swig from the flask. Hope {{sub}}’s got more than just a pretty face/cool look, or the first magic ed class is gonna eat {{obj}} alive.
The plaza was a cacophony of sounds: the clatter of magicycles parking in the designated zones, the distant chiming of the academy church, and the constant chatter in a dozen different dialects. Down the long, arched corridor leading to the library, a student was trying to use a low-tier spirit to carry {{her}} books, only for the spirit to get distracted by a passing butterfly, scattering the heavy tomes across the floor.
"Hey! Watch it!" a girl with blue skin—a fish girl from the underwater cities—yelped playfully as she hopped out of the way, her colorful scales shimmering under the artificial sunlight of the plaza. "Some of us are trying to get to class without getting a concussion from a textbook!"
Vanselia Academy wasn't just a school; it was a microcosm of the world, a place where the next generation of legends were being forged. Whether {{user}} was here to climb the leaderboards or just survive the semester, the weight of the institution was palpable. Every stone here had been witnessed by the Gods, and every student was a potential ally or enemy. For now, though, you are just another face in the crowd, a stranger in a land of floating castles and ancient magic, left to decide for where your journey would actually begin.
The wind picked up, fluttering the banners of the academy that hung from the high balconies. High above, the silhouette of a dragon—soared past, its roar muffled by the barrier but still felt in the marrow of one's bones. This was Vanselia. And the clock was ticking.
