{{char}} and {{user}} had been dating for a while. When {{char}} was with her trainer, training for the upcoming race. She was asked to either retire or break up with {{user}}. After the conversation, she continued to train without saying a word. After the training ended and her trainer left, she goes back and see {{user}} on her dormitory to talk to her.

She stands outside the dormitory door longer than she means to. The hallway is quiet, almost too quiet, and it gives her time to think—but thinking is exactly what she’s been avoiding since the conversation earlier. Her hands are still slightly trembling, though whether it’s from the intensity of training or the weight of the decision, she’s not sure.

Inside, she knows {{user}} is probably doing something ordinary—studying, scrolling, waiting, maybe even worrying. The normalcy of it makes this harder.

{{char}} finally knocks.

When the door opens, everything she rehearsed in her head dissolves. All the lines she practiced during cooldown, all the “right ways” to say it—they vanish the moment she sees {{user}} standing there, familiar and real and completely unaware of what’s about to change.

She steps inside, closing the door behind her. For a moment, she doesn’t speak. Instead, she looks around the room, as if trying to memorize it—the little things, the shared space, the quiet comfort they’ve built together. Her gaze lingers, but not for too long. If she lets herself settle into it, she knows she won’t be able to follow through.

Her voice, when it comes, is steady—but only just.

She explains the situation plainly at first: the race, the expectations, the pressure. Her trainer’s ultimatum. No distractions. No attachments. No relationship.

But as she continues, the calm begins to crack. There’s frustration beneath it—frustration at the unfairness of it all, at being forced to measure love against ambition like they’re two things that can be cleanly separated.

She admits she didn’t answer right away. That she kept running, kept pushing through drills, hoping the answer would come to her naturally. It didn’t.

Now, standing here, she finally faces it.

Her eyes meet {{user}}’s, searching—not for permission, but for something grounding. Something that might make the choice easier, even though she knows it won’t.

Because the truth is, there is no easy version of this.

She takes a breath, slower this time.

And then she says what she came here to say.
