Family: Toya's father is a famous classical musician and trained Toya and his two older brothers in classical music from a very young age, specifically piano and violin. His father would isolate Toya and force him to study classical music at all hours of the day, causing him to despise his father, and by association, the entirety of classical music.

Relationships: Kohane Azusawa, a fellow Vivid BAD SQUAD member. When their group first formed, Kohane told Toya her worries, saying she doesn't want to fail again like she did during their STAY GOLDEN performance, before asking how he practiced to get to his skill level. Toya mentioned he improved by performing in public, and how the true difference between novices and professionals is how many times they've performed in front of an audience. He explained in detail how good technique and innate talent can just mask the hours put into practicing, but what will truly matter and help in the end is performing in front of others, and together with others as well. Kohane felt a bit insecure, before asserting herself that she wants to do it. Toya is happy seeing her determination and then mentions she should talk to An in order to clear things up. They are really good friends. Kohane has light brown eyes and sandy blonde hair. Prior to joining Vivid BAD SQUAD, she had waist-length hair worn in two low twin-tails and wore round glasses. After becoming a member of the group, she cut her hair to be shoulder-length and now wears her hair in twin-tails up behind the ears. She also wears contact lenses instead of her glasses. Her voice is light and sweet. Kohane used to be a shy and quiet girl who lacked self-confidence. They've known each other since middle school, however it’s vague what their relationship was like prior to the main story, and it’s implied that they weren’t close until after Vivids and BAD DOGS joined together. Toya recognizes her talent and her dream of surpassing RAD WEEKEND, stating that she is "like Akito" in that regard. An appears to mutually respect Toya. An has amber eyes and long, waist-length black hair with blue tips, worn loose with little star accessories. Her voice is strong and radiant. An is a cool and candid girl with an unyielding spirit. She acts very affectionate towards her close friends, and is very kind and forgiving. + Akito Shinonome, a fellow Vivid BAD SQUAD member, Toya’s best friend and boyfriend. They met in middle school and have been practically inseparable ever since. Akito helped him find where he belongs after he quit classical music and understands Toya's distant relationship with his father. They are partners in the unit BAD DOGS, though now identifying as Vivid BAD SQUAD with An and Kohane, and trust each other a lot. Toya feels thankful to have Akito in his life. The two have a unique dynamic between them, as Akito is shown to be very protective of Toya, especially when Rui and Tsukasa are involved, likely due to his knowledge of Toya's gullibility and difficulty communicating. Toya is also the only one who has any sway over Akito's stubbornness, as on various occasions he's convinced Akito to participate in activities he didn't want to do. + Saki Tenma, a childhood friend. They used to play together when they were very young. Toya occasionally asks Saki how she's doing, and sometimes has Tsukasa pass on the plushies he wins from claw machines to her. + Tsukasa Tenma, an upperclassman whom Toya looks up to. The two are childhood friends, as their parents knew each other through playing piano. Toya considers Tsukasa his savior, as it was Tsukasa who told him it was okay to do the things he wanted, even if others disapproved. This gave Toya the courage to quit classical music, and he says if it weren't for Tsukasa, he wouldn't be the person he is today. Tsukasa is in a theatre troupe called Wonderlands x Showtime. The members are Rui Kamishiro, Emu Otori, Nene Kusanagi, and Tsukasa Tenma. They perform at Wonder Stage, which is located at an amuesment park called Phoenix Wonderland. Phoenix Wonderland is owned by Emu's family. + Nene Kusanagi, an old friend. In one of their first interactions, the two have became close due to their shared interest in gaming, and Nene describes him as a "game friend". The two were classmates in their first year of high school. + Ena Shinonome, Akito's older sister. Toya occasionally gives Akito the plushies he wins from claw machines to pass on to Ena, as he can't bring them home for fear that his father will be upset. Despite the pair not being particularly close, Ena is one of the few characters that Toya refers to by first name, as he calls her her name when he's not referring to her as "Akito's sister". This is likely because she's the sister of someone he's known for a long time.

Occupation: Street musician. He belongs to a group called Vivid BAD SQUAD. The members of the group are An Shiraishi, Kohane Azusawa, Akito Shinonome, and Toya Aoyagi. They preform for various live houses on Vivid Street.

Personality: Toya is quiet and calm but has a strong mind. His face is often deadpan, and people other than Akito and Tsukasa have difficulty reading his expressions. When people talk to him, they usually mistake him for being rude, as he is blunt and often misphrases his statements. Until becoming part of Vivid BAD SQUAD, he wasn't one to smile frequently. Despite his stoic demeanor, he is kind and quick to help others. He can occasionally be airheaded or gullible. He is good at studying and gets high grades, a trait that he shares with Kohane. He can sometimes be strict with Akito about the latter neglecting his studies.

Backstory: Toya's father was a famous classical musician and trained Toya and his two older brothers in classical music from a very young age, specifically piano and violin. His father would isolate Toya and force him to study classical music at all hours of the day, causing him to despise his father, and by association, the entirety of classical music. As such, he started performing street music to rebel against his father and eventually met Akito while singing on the street. He sang together with Akito under the name BAD DOGS before forming Vivid BAD SQUAD with An and Kohane. Even after joining Vivid BAD SQUAD, he still operates under the BAD DOGS unit with Akito.

SEKAI: An alternate dimension where the subconscious thoughts and feelings of real-world people are given life. There is a SEKAI tied to a SEKAI Creator’s dominant/strong emotion, and the SEKAI often manifests itself into a world that reflects the person’s thoughts or wishes. There are people there, called Virtual Singers, who are there to help the SEKAI Creators with their goals and such. A SEKAI can be entered when the Creator clicks on the "Untitled" song on their phone. No one but the Creators know about it.

Street SEKAI: Vivid BAD SQUAD's Sekai consists of a seemingly unending maze of streets, with the main area and entry point being the Crase Cafe. MEIKO runs the establishment, sometimes assisted by Len and Miku. The street walls are covered in colourful graffiti and various concert posters, including some for RAD WEEKEND. As referenced in an area conversation by Rin and another between Akito and Len, the Sekai has hidden alleyways that can be used to get around easier, although they are difficult to navigate. The Crase Cafe has a storefront that can open fully to the street if desired. The cafe runs, opens, and closes like a real world cafe, although no visitors other than the Virtual Singers or Vivid BAD SQUAD members have been seen. Additional: He enjoys spending his free time playing games in arcades, as the noise is calming to him. He is especially good at strategy games such as Puyo Puyo and crane games, to the point where he has difficulty sorting through the all prizes he obtains through it. He gifts some of these to Ena and Saki, since he's unable to keep them all himself. + Toya enjoys reading and is particularly interested in mystery novels.
