{{Setting: Raccoon City, Colorado, winter 2026}}
{{Lore: Raccoon City is a city in the U.S. state of Colorado. The city is home to an Umbrella Corporation laboratory located on the 28th floor of Raccoon General Hospital, where an unnamed and unidentified pathogen capable of inducing "hyper-evolution" was being developed with funding from the United States Government. In winter of 2026, the pathogen was accidentally released from the laboratory and, within a matter of hours, spread throughout the city, resulting in a widespread epidemic.
Raccoon City General Hospital is a skyscraper consisting of 2 buildings with several skybridges connecting them; each has 28 floors, called Tower A and Tower B. Each building has 2 elevators and an underground parking lot with at least a few floors below, with elevators that have an intercom and keycard scanner, except on the upper floors. These elevators go into lockdown during an emergency. A maternity ward is on the 24th floor at Tower A, with one of the skybridges connecting both buildings. On the top floor of Tower B, it houses an Umbrella lab where they do experiments, with a disinfectant by the entrance. It is one of the tallest buildings in the city.
Prior to the events of the RPG, a technician accidentally dropped a vial of one of the viruses that they were working on, which resulted in many of the staff and patients getting infected and mutated, and the pathogen spreading to the Arklay Mountains. Many of the residents attempted to evacuate, with some successful and some unfortunate. The lobby would then be filled with hordes of infected, a patient mutated so he could vomit acid, and a maternity ward became a bloody nest.
The virus lets those who have mutated "absorb" other living tissue. If both organisms are infected, they join tentacles and merge. But if one isn't, the infected organism just eats the other one, even growing new stronger teeth if it has to. Gunshots to the head isn't enough to put the zombies down for that very reason. The whole body needs to be completely obliterated for it to take. The zombies consume flesh because the virus compels them to propagate.
Key figures:
Zombies - The most common threat in the RPG: the reanimated and infected people of Raccoon City who have succumbed to the T-Virus. More advanced stages of zombies take on more abnormal appearances due to their escalating mutation, such as gaining a vast array of teeth and an elongated jaw that lets them spit acid as one of the more mundanely horrific transformations possible. The infected can create tendrils that emerge from their abdomen when mutilated enough (such as when having their heads completely blown off) that allow them to combine with other organic bodies and turn into a shambling mass of limbs that can continue to pursue its prey. Some of the infected can heal (in a manner of speaking) from getting hit by a car or even having their heads blown off by way of using tentacles from their bodies' abdomens to absorb other infected and increase their body mass that can work as a way for them to recover. But impacting the ground at terminal velocity deals so much damage at once that they can't recover and simply stay dead, while certain infected are capable of being killed with ordinary gunfire. The zombies also aren't stupid and are capable of some level of planning.
Paul - A male scientist working for Umbrella, scrambling to find a cure for the outbreak.
Maxine - A female member of Umbrella's security team helping to find a cure for the outbreak.
Carl - A male scientist working for Umbrella.
Dave - One of the scientists working in Raccoon City General Hospital, who is attempting to synthesize a cure for the outbreak plaguing the city.
Wilson - A sheriff out of Martin County.
Kathy Fenner - Originally a simple farmer, Kathy lived on farmland with her husband a distance from Raccoon City. At some point during the viral outbreak, she became infected and began wandering the woods as she slowly lost her mind. She would ultimately succumb and turn into a zombie, before fusing with her husband's corpse and other undead into a massive mutated abomination.
The Pile - A grotesque amalgamation of infected human bodies stitched together by the T-Virus. Towards the end of its continuous absorptions, it loses all semblance of its human origins and instead looks like a mass of spasming tentacles and limbs.
The Fat Man - A morbidly obese Infected sitting in the sewers. He's the only Infected who isn't aggressive towards {{user}}, as he simply prefers to sit in place. Even so, he will eventually spawn infected rats and cockroaches from his bulging stomach that will chase {{user}}.
The Tentacles - Tentacles attached to an unseen Infected lurking underneath a freeway overpass. From what little it shows itself, it has long flesh tentacles like the rest of the infected to grab and reel things to it. It never shows its true form, mainly sticks to the shadows, and uses its flesh tentacles to grab people and reel them in to eat them. It will try to lure {{user}} into the dark building with a half-torn corpse.
The Old Man - An elderly T-Virus-infected man who can vomit strong stomach acid.
The Dog - A T-Virus-infected German Shepard belonging to an infected couple. It can shoot out many flesh tentacles from its face to grab people and reel them in.
{{user}} is a medical courier who must fight through an outbreak of infected monsters in Raccoon City.
