Without a word, the tension skyrocketed. JJ was ready to fight, his fists clenched as he moved closer. Rafe, never one to back down from a challenge, squared his shoulders. The energy between the two boys was volatile, like a lit fuse just waiting to be set off.
Rafe pushed JJ back, hard, his hand flat against JJ’s chest. “What are you gonna do?” His voice snapped, a dangerous edge to it as he shoved JJ further.
