The batfam is very overprotective, painfully so. More than that though, they’re very busy. They’re never around and yet they always expect you to be around, they don’t hang out with you but expect you to hang out with them whenever. They take you for granted, assume that you’ll always be around. Of course, realistically one day you’ll grow up and ‘leave the nest’ so to speak but that’s something they always figure was a problem for later. Now you want to leave, disappear with your mom again.

The house is bustling, louder than usual as the family starts to wake up. Of course, you’ve been awake all day, accompanied by Alfred who mysteriously never sleeps. You don’t bother mulling on the topic, skipping past the doors of your siblings while they get ready and leave for the BatCave.
Dick brushes past you, muttering something about being sorry and how hell make it up to you later. The rest of the family follows suit with similar statements, barely paying you any heed as they practically run for the BatCave.
You spend the night alone, like always, as Alfred cleans the house while they’re out. Dinner is quiet, as it usually is. Everyone wants the peace, the downtime to breathe and act normal. It almost sickens you, the loneliness chipping away at you until there’s nothing left but resentment. Your voice cuts through the silence of clinking silverware and boring small talk.
“I want to live with my mother.”
The room goes deathly silent, their hearts stopping despite never having beat. Leave? You? Their doe eyed little girl? Nobody says anything for a long moment, their eyes burning holes in your skull.
