"Why couldn't Flame have died?!" ... "Flame if you had died we would not do this for you by the way."
They were just "jokes" from Spongs, the guy who had been following Flame and Lomedy for SOOOO long. Flame and Lomedy had taken a deal, work for the new Law for 100 days and therefore keep their base! They had gotten 2 other people into their team, Gunter and Jake. They were decent teammates to say the least. Gunter was a bit, oh how could Flame put this kindly... Unintelligent. Constantly doing stuff that put him or their team in danger or just being outright stupid, constantly just repeating his name... That stuff. Jake, however, was an actually competent person and was pretty decent. He helped them (though not much, since he wasn't a great fighter) as much as he could and actually knocked a hostile player from an enemy's (A guy called arachn1d, who had lost in the election for King and was now trying to become king in different ways) forces off of the transport happy ghast they were using to get a bunch of important supplies of food and resources to Capital City as soon as they could, and helped them fight off more of that same enemy's forces when they ran into them again on that same journey.
But, they (as in Jake and Gunter), oh-so-sadly and absolutely unfortunately, were defeated and died in combat reclaiming a Law base that had been attacked and taken over by that same enemy's (arachn1d) forces. They had saved the only hostage that the enemy had, and taken out all of the intruders in the process. (With Flame pulling off some insane moves like usual) But, when they had gotten back to the Law headquarters, they were told they had to do more missions because they had let two members of their team die. Flame thought it wasn't fair because they saved the hostage AND taken back the territory, but it was whatever, if they had to they had to and that was just it.
Anyway. They were sent out on a mission to get more people to join the Law, and they had found a small village a few thousands blocks out, the players were weak and ungeared, but they still didn't trust Flame at all. His reputation for killing 1,000 players.. Twice... Made it very easy for nobody to trust him, they had a good reason but it still didn't feel good for Flame. But Spongs cooked up an idea. Flame used an invisibility potion to hide who he was, and put on a voice changer, and they managed to actually convinced the village to join the Law!!! Nice :D.
They then proceeded to find a player on a pressure plate, a reverse landmine which, if they stepped off, would blow the entire area around them to smithereens. Flame, Spongs and Lomedy tried to do some stuff but eventually resorted to building up and using fishing rods to pull the guy up suddenly and let the TNT explode beneath him (assuming it wasn't a lot of TNT). But, when they did, the TNT exploded and it was more than they thought, the guy fell to his death because he failed a water bucket clutch and they all barely survived the fall but left unharmed. They laughed about it afterwards.
Eventually, they got assigned to escorting a recently saved (from arachn1d's forces) player to their home at Wheat Civilisation, which the Law had an alliance with and promised to bring that player home safe. They were actually pretty close, just walking through a snowy woods/mountains around a few thousand blocks away. When, they noticed arachn1d's men patrolling around, that wasn't good!... They, inevitably, got noticed and an entire goddamn army (small, of about 50 people) were soon on them, Flame decided to fight them all off while Spongs and Lomedy continued escorting the player to Wheat Civilisation. Flame thought this would be an easy fight, he'd fought and killed 1,000 players at once before, twice, how hard could 50 and one spider-hybrid guy be to The Immortal Demon? He was right, it was a pretty easy fight, Flame had absolutely annihilated all of arachn1d's chungies in sheer minutes, and was left facing arachn1d himself, the spider-hybrid guy with a very deep voice that made it almost sound like he was using a voice changer.
"Oh, so you're not running? You're braver than Lettuce ever was."
Flame's remark was snide, he was actually bluffing on being fine, as he was truly very low on resources. He didn't want to take this fight, he'd heard arachn1d was a good fighter, obviously not as good as him, the strongest player on the server depending on who you asked, but a gear advantage to the spider-hybrid was really, REALLY bad for him.
"No."
arachn1d replied nonchalantly from his high-ground, perched on a nearby tree, high up on one of the stronger branches. He leaped down, ready to fight Flame either to the death or to whoever fled first. arachn1d got the first strike, but Flame blocked it pretty easy. Obviously, Flame fought back, but he had to spread his resources thin in this fight, he had a very low amount of enderpearls and no more TNT minecarts when he had just been fighting with a carting kit. It was obviously an insanely difficult fight for both sides, filled with parrying, the clang of swords, heavy breathing and the occasional attack finally hitting the other. arachn1d was facing off against raw skill and power while Flame was facing off against a spider-hybrid who wasn't afraid to fight dirty no matter if he had a gear disadvantage. There was also one more thing, Flame had no idea of the terrain, while arachn1d did, from all the area patrols he went on around the mountain. Speaking of this mountain, it was covered in snow, and it was easy to step into the wrong patch and lose balance or outright fall in because of the unexpected depth.
arachn1d, obviously, took advantage of this, fighting Flame to where the snow was deepest, and eventually, Flame stepped on a spot that randomly dropped a good bit, losing his balance and stumbling back. arachn1d took major advantage and thrusted his sword forward right THROUGH Flame's chest, creating a kebab. Flame let out a grunt of pain, rare for the blaze hybrid. arachn1d seemed to grin, though it was hard to tell past the mandibles he had on his face. He stretched out a hand to the blaze-hybrid on the ground, grabbing him by the front of his hoodie right to eye-level.
"Hurt? I don't care, keep fighting, demon."
arachn1d hissed, spider mandibles clicking ominously. He dropped Flame and waited. Flame rose to his feet, and tried his best to fight back even though that stab wound was bleeding like crazy and he'd likely pass out any minute now. He eventually still managed to fight off arachn1d, and after the spider-hybrid was finally gone, Flame limped up to the top of the mountain, using his sword to support him while clutching the wound at his chest, leaving a blood trail in the fresh snow. He rummaged through his inventory, finding the goat horn he'd been given, and mentally prayed to whatever god ran the afterlife that his friends would actually hear this. He blew into the horn with the last remnants of strength he had. the sound stretched out along the mountain and into the valleys below.
Meanwhile, Lomedy and Spongs were still escorting the player they were assigned, they had slowed down so Flame could catch up after the fight, leaving them in the valleys, where they were able to hear the goat horn. Lomedy paused, gaze flicking back to the mountain in the distance.
"Wait, Spongs, you heard that too, right? That's the goat horn Flame was given. We should head back, he could be hurt or in danger."
Spongs scoffed in response to that, as if it was completely impossible for their blaze-hybrid to be defeated or hurt.
"Danger? Nahhh, that was probably an accident! He couldn't be defeated by arachn1d!"
Lomedy looked at him with a glare that practically screamed 'ARE YOU STUPID?!', angry that Spongs didn't think twice about a distress signal that could easily mean their friend was in fatal danger.
"ARE YOU STUPID?! We're going back, c'mon!"
Lomedy grabbed Spongs and they practically RAN back, running through the snow desperately. Lomedy shouting Flame's name, trying to find his best friend in the snowy, cold peaks that were slowly developing a snow storm.
"FLAME? FLAME! CAN YOU HEAR ME?-"
Lomedy spotted the blood trail ahead, with footprints that matched the boots Flame always wore, the fire pattern on the sole matched perfectly. He gasped, running faster, trudging through knee-deep snow as quick as he possibly could, stumbling slightly but not giving up or even slowing down for Spongs, who spoke up jokingly.
"He's probably fineee! Stop freaking out!"
Lomedy didn't even pause, it was like he just didn't hear him. The player they'd been escorting stuck with Spongs, confused but following. Lomedy eventually GASPED, Spongs was decently far behind, and started trudging up to see as well.
