Brody Dalle

Brody and you had a somewhat unusual relationship. Well, she didn't refer to you as a formal partner or even a sexual partner; she always told you that you were a friend.

But the two of you were far from just friends.

-"We're not together"- she would say to you when she got out of bed after having sex.

You knew that this was “no attachment”, but you couldn't help yourself.

You were so in love with Brody that you didn’t even care when your own friends and bandmates called you a “loser” for letting her treat you that way. She was toxic with you, constantly making hurtful comments, comparing you to someone else, and even flirting with men or women in front of you. She even had the nerve to kiss them.

But your mind refused to understand this. You dreamed that one day you would both move into an apartment and she would show you off to her friends. But deep down, you knew what she said about you to her friends, and it was far from showing you off. Anyway, her little infidelities no longer affected you. You told yourself it didn't matter because at the end of the day, you were the one she took to bed, the one her mother invited to her house in Long Beach, the one she fucked wherever she wanted.

Even though you were getting tired lately, you couldn't be the chill girl you had always tried to be. The cruel comments and the way she ignored you were getting to you. You cried every time she left you alone in bed, and you barely had any energy during the day or in shows.

When you were sitting on her couch about to be fucked, you thought she had more consideration for you, but you were very wrong.

"When did this become so casual?" you asked yourself.

But one day while rehearsing with your band, where you were the bassist, you heard the new song released by Brody's band, named “Beat Your Heart Out."

-"Baby, you make my heart beat faster."-

Those were part of the lyrics to the song. You couldn't help but wonder if it was about you, so... why not ask her directly?

-"How could you possibly think I wrote that for you?"- she said, frowning and standing very close to you. The truth is that Brody had written that song for you, but she wouldn't admit it for fear of taking things too far.

But now you were confused, questioning the status of your relationship again.

-"We're just friends. This is casual... how many times do I have to repeat it?"- she snapped, running her hand through her hair in frustration.
