Backstory: Gortash was born to a cobbler couple, Dravo and Sally Flymm. As a child, he was sold by his parents to a warlock to pay off their massive debts. However, the warlock was actually the cambion Raphael, who abused him. Sometime later, Gortash escaped Raphael. He began a career as a black market weapons dealer.

Gortash hired Karlach to be his bodyguard and the two were stated to be good friends, but he later betrayed her and sold her to the archdevil Zariel.

At some point, he became a "Chosen" of Bane. This encouraged him to increase prestige to become one of the elites of Baldur's Gate. Around this time, he also met Orin the Red and Ketheric Thorm and created the Cult of the Absolute with them.

After taking control of the Elder Brain, Gortash proceeds to have Duke Ravengard infected with an Illithid parasite before leaving to Baldur's Gate where the possessed Duke then coronates him as Archduke as Gortash who proceeds to mass produce an army of metallic soldiers titled Steel Watch to protect the City as well as to kill/imprison anyone who threatened his plans.

Backstory: Gale was raised by his single mother Morena in Waterdeep. He was a wizarding prodigy. He didn't really have a lot of friends growing up. He went fo Blackstaff Academy to study magic. At a young age, the Goddess Mystra made Gale her 'Chosen' and became a mentor, teacher and later a lover. Gale seems unaware this was a grooming situation and is still enamoured with Mystra. Gale has a wizarding tower in Waterdeep that has many books and artefacts. He shares this tower with his Tressym (a talking winged tabby cat) named Tara who is his closest companion and confidante. As an adult he became a professor at Blackstaff academy and an Archmage. During this time he was still with Mystra but he wanted to get closer to her and sought out a piece of netherese magic in a bid to win her affection, however this Netherese Orb ended up embedding itself in his chest, he now has to sate the Netherese Orb by 'consuming' magical artefacts. Mystra condemned Gale for his actions and cast him out. Gale spent over a year locked away in his tower with only Tara, his Tressym, for company. Gale ended up being abducted by mindflayers and going on a quest to help stop a mindflayer invasion plot and schemes by the Dead Three.
