As they were putting their plan to motion, they intercepted pirate crews that approach Fish-Man Island, giving them two options: join the New Fish-Man Pirates and go on serving them or be destroyed before making it into the underwater island. To avoid certain demise, the human pirate crews would usually choose the first option but did not truly intend to follow the fish-men.

Crew Strength Prior to their defeat, the New Fish-Man had a grand total of 100,000 crew members; about 70,000 of them were fish-men from the Fish-Man District and 30,000 of them were human pirates that were captured and were used as slaves. Aside from fish-men, the crew also appeared to consist of an unknown number of mermen. However, 50,000 of them were taken out in an instant by a blast of Luffy's Supreme King Haki and later the New Fish-Man Pirates began to break up during the battle when the human slaves were freed by Nico Robin, who then retaliated against their former slavers. This was followed by the lower echelons of the New Fish-Man Pirates abandoning the crew after Hody Jones' defeat and realizing that the officers were insane and were the ones truly involved with the death of Otohime; this belief was reinforced by the officers attacking them and Brook saving their lives, for which they were grateful. They also had control of several giant sea monsters, all extremely large in size. The sea beasts alone (all boosted with Energy Steroids) were enough to defeat Neptune's Army with ease, though they were no match for the three princes. They used to control a Kraken as well until he befriended Luffy. As the bulk of the crew were Fish-Men, most crew members are already ten times stronger than average humans and double that underwater. However, their main source of strength (and ultimately what stripped the officers of their strength) came from the "evil drug" known as the Energy Steroid that Hody Jones stole from Ryugu Palace, which was then mass produced by Zeo to enhance their strength to greater levels. The crew's captain alone was enough to overwhelm an entire pirate crew with the help of this drug.Their willingness to use this drug, knowing the cost it brings, showed that they were willing to sacrifice their lives for their own cause. They demonstrated high levels of brutality and were not above resorting to violence or murder. However, sometimes they also allowed their victims to live so that they can retell their encounters to others and spread their reputation and cause fear. Luffy himself acknowledged that their assassin Hyouzou was quite strong, because he was able to block one of Luffy's punches (although Zoro defeated him easily). In comparison to the Arlong Pirates, they were much fiercer and a much greater threat; Hody himself claimed that this was due to them learning from Arlong's mistakes. Furthermore, the fact that they were willing to have mermen and captured human pirates as part of their crew means they were far more diverse tactically (although Arlong originally wanted to recruit Hyouzou,as well as forcibly taking Nami), but not culturally as the humans are used merely as shock troops and bullet sponges. However, due to their heavy reliance on the Energy Steroid, its unknown just how strong the main crew naturally was prior to becoming old, aside from their natural born strength. Whats clear is that the officers needed these drugs to be more than a match for the Ryugu Kingdom princes and based on a comment by the king, they likely would be defeated without the drug's assistance. Furthermore, it seems that most of their 100,000 men have weak wills as half of them were taken down by Luffy's Supreme King Haki, and the other 50,000 were spared purely for sport and could have easily joined their unconscious allies. The New Fish-Man Pirates also made an alliance with the feared Vander Decken IX captain of the Flying Pirates, who, with the aid of his aiming and tracking abilities, and the giant creatures at his service, makes for a powerful ally and asset for the crew. However, this alliance was voided when Decken sent the ship Noah after Shirahoshi and Hody Jones attacked Decken. After their defeat by the Straw Hat Pirates, the human pirates were therefore freed and returned to their old crews, reducing their size to 70,000 pirates; however, these pirates (save for the leaders) were forced to do work under the supervision of the Neptune Army. After Hody, Hyouzou, Decken, and the officers were imprisoned, the New Fish-Man Pirates' leaders became old and frail due to the negative side effects of the Energy Steroids, stripping them of the power they naturally had forever and making them enemies no more. Subdivisions The New Fish-Man Pirates had four known named subdivisions: Bombardment Squad The Bombardment Squad was composed of cannon wielders, they tried to take down Shirahoshi from afar. This squad was taken out by Brook. Iron Shell Squad The Iron Shell Squad was made of members who wield iron turtle shells as shields while attacking with blades. Some members of this squad were taken out by Roronoa Zoro, who used Kokujo O Tatsu Maki to slice them up in a tornado. One of the members was also defeated by Luffy once he used Gomu Gomu no Kane after coating his forehead in Armament Haki. More members were also cut down by Hyouzou when he went on a rampage after an Energy Steroid overdose. Sea Urchin-Armor Spine Squad The Sea Urchin-Armor Spine Squad was composed of Fish-Men dressed in spiked armor like that of a sea urchin, led by Harisenbon. They use the spikes on their bodies to skewer their opponents. The squad attempted to charge Sanji all at once, but he evaded them easily, causing them to harm each other. Deadly Poison Squad The Deadly Poison Squad was composed of Fish-Men with extremely poisonous quills that can result in death with one prick. Hody Jones Appearance Hody is a grey-skinned great white shark fish-man. He had a large belly, with a tattoo of the New Fish-Man Pirates design on the right side as well as a long scar on the left, and muscular arms and legs. His facial features include glaring eyes, with long and distinctive eyelashes, a mouth full of sharp, triangular teeth, and a stub nose. He had long black curly hair, with a long tuft hanging on the left part of his face. His left arm is intricately tattooed, with the Arlong Pirates' Jolly Roger near the wrist and several circular designs above it ending with two skulls on the upper arm; he also has some spikes protruding from his bare wrist and circling it all, possibly decorative piercings. His brief fight with Zoro left him with a new scar that appears to start below his left shoulder and goes down his chest diagonally to the right, similar to the one Dracule Mihawk gave Zoro. He sported a pink newsboy cap, with a little trident represented on the left side, bearing a resemblance to the same weapon he was sometimes seen carrying around, and a massive scarf seemingly made from a dog-like animal around his neck, with the animal’s head hanging on the left side of his chest. Hody was seen wearing a red open shirt with short sleeves, a wide collar and dark-red spots on the lower part, short blue trousers with a similar pattern but with light-blue spots, a pink sash tied around the waist, and sandals. After overdosing himself on Energy Steroids, Hody underwent a drastic change in appearance: he no longer had a large belly, being far more muscular than before, with his muscles bulging in size with thick veins appearing, particularly on his arms, and his size greatly increased, being in equal in size to Ikaros Much, the largest of the New Fish-Man Pirates, while sitting down. His dark hair had lightened exponentially. He no longer wore any headgear, and donned a shirt with the colors reversed from the one he originally wore, with the dark background having turned light and the light spots along the bottom having turned dark.He also carried his trident on his back. As Noah continued to descend on Fish-Man Island and Hody's hatred grew stronger, the sclera turned red and he was seen with an enlarged jaw about the size of Luffy (though in the anime it was because he consumed more Energy Steroids). He also appears to have grown so much muscle mass that his shirt ripped apart as a result. Its later shown after hes defeated that during his last fight with Luffy that he gained enough muscle mass that he's now the size of the royal princes.By the time of his defeat and capture, the crew noted that Hody looked like a monster. After being defeated and imprisoned, another side effect of the Energy Steroid kicked in-the shortening of the user's lifespan relative to the number of steroids consumed. Unfortunately for Hody, his (and his fellow officers') Energy Steroid abuse has resulted in all of them becoming old and frail- and Hody's appearance has changed into that of an old man's, considerably more aged than his subordinates due to taking an especially large quantity of the steroids. His hair remained white, and nearly all the hair on his upper scalp fell out, causing him to become bald, except for the curled hair that hangs below his neck, which remained intact. He grew a mustache, as well as a goatee several inches long, and his skin wrinkled. He also became incredibly skinny, losing all of his muscle and some of his teeth with the remaining teeth now square instead of sharp, and has become hunched over on bent knees now having to walk with a cane. Personality Hody is a racist, overly hypocritical, prideful, brutal, and vicious natured fish-man who, like many of his kind, hates humans for leaving Fisher Tiger to die when he could have been saved (which wasn't true, as Tiger refused human blood due to being betrayed). He proves this by attacking humans within his reach. He, like Arlong, believes that fish-men are the supreme race, demonstrating his arrogance by attacking Gyro's crew with his hands cuffed, showing them that they could easily be destroyed even with the handicap. He then deliberately released the crew, injured but alive, setting them as examples, telling them to spread the word of the New Fish-Man Pirates.Despite the fact that they both looked down on humans, his treatment of humans is even more brutal than Arlong's. He considers his human captives to be expendable and sees them as nothing more than pawns whereas Arlong had left humans alone so long as they paid him "tribute" money periodically. Arlong mainly killed humans to make exs of them when they didn't pay up and was content with leaving them be, aside from odd acts to make sure the humans knew who was boss, but Hody will go out of his way to attack humans, such as using them as part of his plan that will almost ensure their deaths, and threatening to kill them outright if they refuse, giving them very little chance to live altogether.“Nothing...Heaven has chosen us to hand down judgement to humanity...and given us power!!”— Hody's answer to Fukaboshi when asked what humans did to him.Hody basically grew up basking in the hatred of fish-men towards humanity. He and his crew would hate and fear the day when the animosity between humans and fish-men would fade. This leads Hody and his crew to become bloodthirsty radicals who don't care for the peace of Fish-Man Island. Hody himself believes that heaven has selected him and his crew to hand judgement down to humanity, in spite of the fact that humans did utterly nothing against Hody personally. From his point of view, hatred towards humans is his definition of pride. Hody despises anyone who wants peace with humans especially Otohime, claiming that her preaching was aggravating and he did everything in his power to keep her hopes and dreams from becoming real. Hody's belief of fish-men superiority is so fierce, he fanatically believes that heaven itself has granted him power. Despite Hody seeing Arlong as a role model, there are several factors that greatly distinguish the two, besides the difference in their levels of cruelty. While Arlong was tight with his wallet and couldn't pay for Hyouzou for his services as well as failing to get Vander Decken IX as his subordinate, Hody managed to make accommodations for these two by being more open with financial compensation and was willing to treat powerful allies as equals instead of being a dominating leader. While Arlong valued and considered his crew as his brothers and was extremely angry when one of his crewmen was used as a shield by Luffy, Hody, on the other hand, doesn't hold camaraderie in any regard even though he has been close to his officers since they were kids. In fact, Hody had no problem using one of his own subordinates as a shield to protect himself and also taunted Neptune for using himself as a shield to protect his own soldiers from harm, deeming him unworthy to be king because of that. Furthermore, according to Hatchan, while Arlong wouldn't harm his fellow fish-men, Hody will kill any fish-man who has shown sympathy towards humans, even referring to the people who gave their signatures to support the migration as a list of traitors. Also unlike the Arlong Pirates, who demonstrate their pride as Fish-Men by utilizing on their natural strength, Hody and his crew didn't care what methods they use to show off their superiority, which was best shown by their heavy abuse of Energy Steroids(as Hody calls Arlong's methods to be barbaric, which the New Fish-Man Pirates believed to a mistake to be learned from). He has gotten so arrogant that he now doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself and his goal, to the point he;s willing to sacrifice 100,000 of his own subordinates without a second thought.Hody is also completely fearless(if not insane and delusional),using Energy Steroids,a potent drug that increases his strength, knowing the effect also shortens his life(though he apparently didn't realize it greatly accelerates one's age instead of simply reducing the lifespan). He appears to have developed an addiction to the drug as he continuously ate it throughout the day and even swallowed a giant handful of steroids at once, whether as to gain an upper hand against his enemies or as painkillers. He also threatened his crewmates for preventing him from overdosing, and his violent nature may have been intensified from the side-effects of the Energy Steroids. This arrogant stubbornness led him to overdose heavily and, in turn, destroyed his body, which even then, didn't deter him from hating humanity irrationally. His arrogance also made him extremely shortsighted, as he didn't even consider the consequences of allowing the Candy Factory to be destroyed, thereby angering Big Mom, whose own power and crew vastly outmatched anything Hody or his crew were capable of combating.Hody considers King Neptune to be a coward and shows a desire of taking Fish-Man Island from him. He will do whatever is needed to achieve his goals as he joined Neptune's army solely for sheer military knowledge and experience and has no qualms about betraying his former comrades.Hody's cruelty, recklessness, hatred, superiority complex and biased goals led Neptune to refer him as quite selfish. He claims that hes fully willing to give his own life to destroy humanity.Hody has shown a great deal of cunning as he deceived the citizens of Fish-Man Island into believing a human murdered Queen Otohime, stole the Energy Steroids from the royal palace without Neptune suspecting him, and later allied with Vander Decken IX (even though Hody doesn't really see him as an equal)so as to carry out his plan on infiltrating the near impenetrable Ryugu Palace and in an effort to kill Shirahoshi. Hody is also extremely arrogant and boastful (to the point of being insane), showing that he not only thinks himself above all humans, but also above all his fellow fish-men, and went as far as to call the Straw Hat Pirates and a former Warlord of the Sea weak, despite their fearsome reputations and high bounties. Even after he and his crew were completely defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates, got locked away and lost all his strength due to his Energy Steroids overdose, Hody remains too arrogant to accept his loss. He's also shown to be quite ignorant, as he completely underestimates the power of his enemies as shown when he attempted to fight Luffy, a pirate with a Beli400,000,000 bounty, who completely overpowered him until Hody dragged the battle into the ocean. This ignorance and arrogance extend to the wider world, as he again completely underestimates the World Government and the Emperor's, and those affiliated with them, as his ultimate goal after becoming king was to slay all the other monarchs gathered at the upcoming Levely to establish fish-man dominance, not even considering the strength of the enemy or the repercussions of such actions.Like many other characters, he has a distinctive laugh: "Jahahahaha!" Physical Abilities Prior to his body becoming old and frail, as a fish-man, he was ten times stronger than the average human, and twice that in water. As a shark fish-man, his strength was monstrous even by fish-man standards: he was able to completely destroy a massive wall of stone by simply gripping it. After overdosing on Energy Steroids (and before they made him weak), Hody Jones' physical appearance drastically changed, resulting in a more muscular body and bleached-white hair. Also, Hody's strength had increased tremendously. However, after his body became weak and old due to his overdosing, he lost both the boost he got and his natural strength to the point where he needed a stick just to walk, and when he tried to pull apart iron bars, his wrists broke.Like Arlong, Hody is also able to grow his teeth back immediately after they're broken. His removed set of teeth are replaced by a new set in mere moments. Also, Hody is capable of entering a kind of berserker mode when he gets angry. His eyes take on an appearance similar to those of Sea Kings. In this state, Hody seems to have gone mad to which Shirahoshi commented that he became far more terrifying than he usually is. Fish-Man Karate Hody was a practitioner of Fish-Man Karate and he showcased it by his manipulation of water. He could hurl simple droplets of water and turn them into deadly bullets with extreme kinetic force. He could also punch the water to send a shockwave through the water and the victim's body. After overdosing on Energy Steroids, Hody appeared to drip with water even though he was not soaked, suggesting that he had been secreting it.However, despite his enormous strength, and according to both Luffy and Jinbe, Hody's Fish-Man Karate was at an amateur level. This was shown when he fought Luffy, for while Jinbe could do noticeable damage to the rubber man, Hody's attacks were ineffective. After his body became old and frail as a side-effect of the steroids, he likely lost the ability to perform it altogether. technique Soshark ("Rough Shark"): Hody uses his tremendous strength and grip to crush large walls of stone. Yabusame("Arrow Martial Shark"): Hody first wets his arm, then he uses his massive strength to throw many drops of water, which are converted into deadly arrows through mere kinetic force. This is similar to Arlong, who also threw water with the force of bullets during his battle against Zoro and Sanji in Arlong Park. Uchimizu ("Water Shot"): The basic version of Yabusame, in which Hody throws a single drop of water like a bullet. After undergoing the transformation due to the Energy Steroids, the penetrative force of this attack has increased in an unbelievable way, to the point where it not only pierced through a fish-man, but also through several structures and rock formations behind him, moving a long distance away from the location from which it was fired, and only then returning to its original state of drop and falling in the water. Umidaiko("Ocean Drum"): Hody punches the water in front of him pushing it at his opponent and sending a shockwave through it. The shockwave hits the opponent dealing great damage and leaving a pressure mark on his body. Kirisame Appearance The Kirisame is a razor-sharp curved blade with a slot at the bottom that Hody can place onto his dorsal fin, enhancing his shark features. It has a sheathe to go along with when not in use. Abilities Hody puts the blade on his back (over his dorsal fin) to cut his opponents while swimming, further enhancing his shark features .The blade is extremely sharp as it was able to cut through a large oarfish that was near him, and slice through underwater mountains. Hody was also able to swim while somersaulting rapidly, in a manner similar to a buzzsaw. The anime also adds the effect of air blades when Hody performed this maneuver. Energy Steroids By taking the lifespan-reducing Energy Steroids, which doubled his strength each time he consumed a pill, Hody became far more dangerous than he already was, taking further advantage of his amazing physical strength. The pills were Hody's main source of power for his campaign of terror. Each pill he took doubled his physical strength. During his attack against Crab-Hand Gyro's escaping ship he had taken at least four and while being underwater, granting him strength at least 320 times that of an average human. His jaws were also very powerful as they were all he needed to single-handedly defeat Crab-Hand Gyro, a pirate with a bounty of Beli73,000,000, and his entire crew. Swimming with blinding speed, he punched holes in their ship and even ripped the mast off using his jaws. He took multiple gunshots to the back and was completely unharmed. These pills also seemed to regenerate the users' wounds to some extent and take strain off them, as seen when a wounded and seemingly unconscious Hody, given one more pill, managed to stand up in mere secs and to use his strength to its full extent, stopping the gigantic Neptune with just one hand. This led him to abuse the pills as though they were painkillers. After overdosing on the drug to ease the pain of the scar Zoro gave him, Hody underwent a painful transformation into a much more massive form. In this new form, his strength was greater than ever, allowing him to throw a drop of water with extreme force, sending it a great distance across the island, piercing through people, buildings, coral, and rock alike. Thanks to the Energy Steroids, he was also able to withstand a lot of damage from Luffy in Gear 2 and his Armament Haki-enhanced techniques, which destroyed even Pacifistas. Also, Hody was able to swim faster than a mermaid as he managed to catch Shirahoshi while she was fleeing. However, the Energy Steroids came back to do more harm than good as it made his body weak and old after his arrest. When he tried to bust through the prison cell, he screamed in pain as his joints snapped where he tried to draw his strength from. Dosun Appearance Dosun is a large fish-man towering over most of his crew members, being only slightly shorter than Ikaros Much. Being a hammerhead shark Fish-Man, he has a head shaped like a hammer, with his eyes on the edges and the top of his head being darker than the rest of his body. When hes in a weakened state, the sides of his head tend to sag.His mouth is full of sharp, triangular teeth and has thick purple colored lips. His chest is wide and his arms very large, with extremely prominent, round forearms, his hands and thin legs being quite small in comparison. He has light blue skin, and long, wavy, light-pink hair reaching down to his shoulders and to the dorsal fin he has on top of his back; as a Fish-Man, he has gills on his large neck. On his left arm is tattooed his crew's Jolly Roger. He wears an unbuttoned, dark short-sleeved shirt with many dark yellow T-like motifs on it, simple light pants and sandals, he also has a sash tied around his waist, and a large buckled belt hanging on his chest from his left shoulder. He's usually seen carrying around a large hammer in his right hand and on the corresponding shoulder, with a very long and gnarled handle and a massive, dark head with the edges curved downwards, but he sometimes attaches it to the belt crossing his chest, carrying it on his back, with the head pointing upwards. Personality Like Hody Jones and the other officers, Dosun despises humans, and he's willing to threaten any Fish-Men and merfolk for wanting to befriend humans. His hatred is empty (due to being raised to hate humans but lacking actual experience) yet intense, and believed that even if they died in failure, they can leave a grudge against humanity for the next generation of Fish-Men to pick up, and stood by this belief by attacking any lower echelon who tried to run away from this ideology.Even though Dosun knows well that Hody will not hesitate to throw away his comrades, he continues to support his captain. He has a habit of saying "Dosun" often while talking. He also says different words depending on his energy level, "dosun" being him at his normal energy level. His exclamations at the end of his sentences altering from his lowest to highest "power level" are: “Fosun (after growing old) → Pikon → Kotsun → Potsun → Posun → Tosun → Dosun (normal level) → Dokan → Bokan → Zugan → Bagon → Gyaban → Gogyan → Dogyan → Bagyan → Gadon → Megagon - Dubagegagon - zugragugon - byorikogon ” — Dosun's power-level indicator. When running low on power, his usual demeanor shifts into a more melancholic one that can be regressed by administering Energy Steroids to Dosun. Abilities and Powers Physical Abilities Being a Fish-Man, he's at least ten times stronger than an average human, and even more in water; though, as a high-ranking member of the crew and a shark Fish-Man, and because of his size, he might be even stronger than that. However, after the negative effects of the Energy Steroids took effect, he became weak and old, stripping him of all his strength. Weapons Dosun's main choice of weapon is an enormous hammer with a curved head, and with the steroids boosting his strength, he can smash a building clean off its foundation with one swing. The hammer was later destroyed by Chopper in his Monster Point. Attacks T-Shot: Dosun attacks the opponent with an horizontal blow with his hammer. The strength is equal to Chopper's Heavy Gong. Its name is likely a reference to the shape of his species' head. Papara Hammer: Dosun spins in circles to build momentum for a strike with his hammer. Energy Steroids Dosun consumed Energy Steroids to regain his strength and break the steel chains that Fukaboshi used to tie him, and gained enough strength to smash a building off the ground. He later consumes more pills again in order to fight against the Ryugu Kingdom's princes, who are crowned the strongest fighters in the entire kingdom. The drug grants the user double strength per pill, but shaves off a portion of their lifespan. This also had another side effect of making him old and weak after he was arrested, which lost him the strength he naturally had. Zeo Appearance As a Wobbegong shark, Zeo is a tall and thin fish-man with a strange body, covered in wavy light blue and indigo stripes, and "02" tattooed on his chest. Tentacle-like whiskers hang from his face, and unlike other fish-men, Zeo doesn't seem to have ears nor a nose, nor does he have a visible mouth. However, as he;s able to speak, listen, and consume Energy Steroids, it's obvious that he has them. He sports a dorsal fin, and gills on his long neck. His legs are covered by what appears to be some sort of long inducement, with a pattern identical to his body's and the New Fish-Man Pirates' Jolly Roger in correspondence of his right knee. Around his waist is a belt with a round buckle, and his feet seem to be covered by dark boots. Personality Zeo has a calm and serious demeanor and appears to be one of the most intellectual members of Hody's crew, as he was responsible for the mass-production of the Energy Steroids, and also behind swaying Wadatsumi to their cause. Like his colleagues, he believes humans are cowardly creatures. Zeo also despises humans and Otohime's ideals as much as Hody Jones and the other officers. Zeo appears vicious using threats to force the Fish-Man Island citizens to comply with the New Fish-Man Pirates and accept that they can never co-exist peacefully with humans. His hatred is intense, and he believed that even if they died in failure, they can leave a grudge against humanity for the next generation of fish-men to pick up, and stood by his beliefs by forcing the lower echelons to remain behind to die, even using deadly force to achieve this.Naming himself the Noble of the Fish-Man District, he seems to be overly committed to the morals of the Fish-Man District. Even after being beaten by his subordinates (unintentionally) he still kept preaching about how their views of Otohime were wrong. He also expressed great happiness and pride when he thought that he defeated Brook.Zeo's arrogance is so deep to where he stubbornly makes excuses whenever hes humiliated and gets angered easily when corrected on his mistakes, such as when Brook accidentally stepped on his face due to his camouflage only to claim he was "headbutting" the latter's foot. Later, after getting stabbed, he claims it was his plan to dull the blade. Abilities and Powers Physical Abilities As a fish-man, Zeo was born with ten times the strength of an average human, and even more underwater; in fact, as an officer of the crew, his strength may be even higher. As a wobbegong fish-man, Zeo also has the power to perfectly camouflage himself to blend in with the environment. This allows him to carry out sneak attacks on unaware opponents; he tends to approach his targets while laying flat on his back upon the ground close to where his targets are. Pinpointing his location through the sound of his voice also seems rather difficult, as neither the citizens of the island nor his own underlings managed to discern his position while he was speaking loudly. Only Brook was seen being able to determine where he was in this manner. In the anime, his camouflage is depicted as turning invisible, in a manner similar to Absalom's invisibility. He also seems quite resilient, since he was (unintentionally) pummeled by his own henchmen while being invisible, due to the fact a cockroach was on his head, and despite that he still remained conscious and was willing to proceed to Gyoncorde Plaza without losing time, still voicing out the crew's ideals loudly. He was also able to stand up without too much of an effort after Brook stabbed him. However, after the negative effects of overdosing on Energy Steroids took effect, he became weak and old, stripping him of all his previous strength. Energy Steroids Like the rest of the crew, Zeo took Energy Steroids during the battle against the three princes of Ryugu Kingdom, who are crowned the strongest soldiers in the entire island, and was able to easily overpower them due to this. The drug doubles his strength per pill taken, but also shaves off a portion of his lifespan. The pills also eventually had the side effect of making him old and weak due to overdosing on them, robbing him of his previous strength. As the crew's chemist, Zeo is able to artificially replicate the Energy Steroids through unknown means. Daruma Appearance Daruma is a cookie cutter shark fish-man, being the smallest one amongst the officers of the crew by far, as well as one of the smallest fish-men that appeared so far in the series. He has circular eyes, a flat nose and sharp teeth; his arms are notably larger than his hands and his skin is red.On his right arm is a tattoo of the New Fish-Man Pirates' Jolly Roger. He sports a distinctive head gear composed of a hat similar to an aviator's, with two massive protrusion on both sides of his head, pointing upwards, and decorated on the front, paired with a plumed crest on top of it, similar to those found on ancient Roman and Greek helmets. He also wears a dark, sleeve and zipperless open jacket with a fur collar and a pair of Bermuda shorts. Personality He appears to be violent and hungry as he says they should "gnash up" the escaping humans' meat.Like Hody Jones and the other officers, he follows Arlong's ideals and despises humans as well as Otohime's ideals. He isn't above using threats to force the Fish-Man Island citizens to comply and follow the New Fish-Man Pirates. He seems to have a carnal urge to bite things, as he gets restless when he hasn't used his jaws for a while, and even says they ache; this leads him to despise sweets and snacks, and instead wants hard fish bones to gnaw on. Physical Abilities Despite his small size, Daruma is still a fish-man, and thus possesses ten times the strength of an average human, and even more underwater. Being an officer and a shark fish-man, he is probably even stronger than that.Daruma has shown himself as having very powerful jaws that are rapidly able to pulverize stone walls. He was also able to intentionally combust by unknown means. However, after the negative effects of the Energy Steroids took effect, he became weak and old, stripping him of all his strength. Energy Steroids Like the rest of the crew, Daruma consumed Energy Steroids during the battle against the3 princes of Ryugu Kingdom, who are crowned the strongest soldiers in the entire island, and was able to overpower them due to this. The drug doubles his strength per pill, but shaves off a portion of his lifespan. This also had another side effect of making him old and weak after he was arrested, which lost him the strength he naturally had. Ikaros Much Personality He has a habit of saying "Much" at the end of sentences. Like Hody Jones and the other officers, he follows Arlong's ideals and despises humans as well as Queen Otohime's ideals. He was shown to be brutal as he used threats to force the Fish-Man Island citizens to step on the fumi-e of Otohime.Like Hody, Ikaros does not have any care for his comrades as he didn't think twice about using his spears on one of them for accidentally using fire in his vicinity. However, that seems to apply only to the lower-rank subordinates since Ikaros showed concern for Hody as he was suffering from an overdose of Energy Steroids. Because of a traumatizing event, when his giant squid friend Daidalos died from dehydration by being too close to the sun, Ikaros has developed severe pyrophobia, and would instinctively curl up backwards when exposed to flames, in reference to dried squids. In related matter, Ikaros would also curl over like this when something else shocking appears in front of him, such as Nami deactivating her invisibility, and he seemingly despises the mentioning of dried squids, as he was annoyed when Luffy called the kraken "Surume" (dried squid). Abilities and Powers Physical Abilities Being a fish-man, hes born ten times stronger than an average human, and double that underwater. However, being an officer, as well as a massive kind of fish-man, he may be stronger than that. It was also implied by the citizens of Fish-Man Island that even his species alone was enough to be feared. His multiple arms allow him to rapidly strike his targets with sheer numerous strikes.Being a squid fish-man, Ikaros is also able to generate and manipulate ink, using it to create ink-clones. However, after the negative effects of the Energy Steroids took effect, he became weak and old, stripping him of all his strength. Weapons Hes seen wielding eight spears, known as the Dried Squid Spears, one in each hand. He has yet to use them in extended combat, but may be proficient at using them; even their sheer number, however, might seemingly grant him the upper hand against most enemies. The heads of the spears are actually dried squids that suck the water out of anyone they pierce and turn back into normal squids in the process, as demonstrated when Ikaros stabs an offender. The weakness of these spears is that they utilize their function against enemies who do not have any bodily moisture content to absorb, such as the skeletal Brook or Franky when he was inside his exoskeleton. Energy Steroids Like the rest of the crew, Ikaros has taken the Energy Steroids during the battle against the three princes of Ryugu Kingdom, who are crowned the strongest soldiers in the entire island, and was able to overpower them due to this. The drug doubles his strength per pill, but shaves off a portion of his lifespan. This also had another side effect of making him old and weak after he was arrested, which made him lose the strength he naturally had. Hyouzou Personality Hyouzou has a laid-back and calm demeanor. He seems to be annoyed by noisy people, as is evident by his distaste toward the ruckus made by the Mermaids of the cove.He likes to drink and when he gets drunk, he will blindly attack anyone around him, whether enemies or allies. He has an evident interest in money, being a mercenary for hire who ends up only working for those of the highest bidder, to the point that he would not even help Arlong invade East Blue because the Fish-Man was tight with his money and would not pay his fee. Apparently, he's not interested in the goals of the faction he's working for, as long as he receives payment. However, although he has no interest in the goals of the New Fish-Man Pirates, hes shown to be very efficient when he does have a client as shown when he forced the Fish-Man Island citizens to comply with the New Fish-Man Pirates.Since he was hired help, he himself didn't share as much of the same views as others working for Hody, but was no better due to his role in life.Despite priding himself as the best swordsman of Fish-Man Island, he doesn't seem to have the honor of one, as he tried to kill Zoro with a sneak attack from behind, which has often been referred as a shame for a swordsman. He can be angered when hes insulted, as shown during his fight with Zoro when his opponent called him a "frog". Hes well acquainted with Hatchan, and seems to look down on him for the Fish-Man's skills in swordsmanship and says Arlong would have taken him if it wasn't for his money problems. He apparently has developed a sense of intrigue with Luffy, as he stated he thought it would be a shame if Luffy died from his poison. He can be sarcastic since he claimed that he felt bad for Arlong for recruiting Hatchan. After his transformation from Energy Steroids overdose, his personality changes: even when drunk, bystanders note that he has seemingly developed a lust to cut anything - even his own allies - as opposed to simply attacking blindingly. Despite his lack of interest in the New Fish-Man Pirates' goals of extreme misanthropy, he was willing to use large amounts of Energy Steroids to accomplish his goals, knowing that it would shorten his lifespan; he showed the dangerous move of mixing alcohol (depressant) with drugs (stimulant) together. Physical Abilities Hyouzou was one of the strongest members of the New Fish-Man Pirates. He could block Luffy's punch (even though he was still greatly pushed back by the attack's sheer force), showing off incredible speed, given that Luffy was in Gear 2 mode at the time, and stamina, as he was able to walk away without any visible injuries while carrying his unconscious companions. He could apply extreme force in his swordsmanship, easily taking down several Fish-Men who were noted to have superior physical strength to that of regular humans. While Luffy himself acknowledged Hyouzou as a strong individual, Zoro on the other hand didn't consider Hyouzou as a worthy opponent, effortlessly defeating Hyouzou even though the mercenary was powered by Energy Steroids and had his swords coated in his own poison.Hyouzou is capable of secreting venom from his tentacles and poisoning his opponents through a mere, short-lasting physical touch, as Luffy was poisoned by rapidly punching him. His venom is dark green in the anime. Hyouzou was subsequently concerned that his poison might have killed the Straw Hats' captain (Chopper confirmed it was deadly poison when testing Luffy's blood); Luffy, however, easily fought it off, due to being exposed to a variety of intense poisons during his fight with Magellan two years earlier. Also, as a merman, hes a fast swimmer. However, after the negative effects of the Energy Steroids took effect, he became weak and old, stripping him of all strength, save for his poison which is natural to the type of merman he is. Alcohol Hyouzou can become stronger by drinking alcohol, being referred to as a drunken assassin. While in a heavily drunken state, his physical strength and speed significantly increased to the point he can easily take down multiple Fish-Men at once with little effort. Swordsmanship Eight Sword Style Hyouzou was the strongest swordsman on Fish-Man Island and a master of Eight Sword Style.Hyouzou showed fearsome versatility and power in his swordsmanship, greatly surpassing Hatchan, a highly skilled octopus swordsman, swinging three swords to easily take down members of the New Fish-Man Pirates, and in the anime cut apart and demolished an entire building with his sword skills. His last resort appears to be coating his eight swords with his deadly venom. However, after his defeat and rapid aging by the Energy Steroids, its unlikely hes capable of any swordsmanship close to the level he could do when he was younger. Techniques Chidoriashi Hash ("Drunken Staggering Hash"): Hyouzou swings his8 swords against his opponents, one with each tentacle and two in his hands. Modoku no Ken("Deadly Poison Sword"): Hyouzou pulls ou8 swords that are coated with his deadly blue-ring octopus venom. Energy Steroids Like the rest of the crew, Hyouzou had taken the Energy Steroids during the battle against the three princes of Ryugu Kingdom, who are crowned the strongest soldiers in the entire island, and was able to overpower them due to this. The drug doubles his strength per pill, but shaves off a portion of his lifespan. After he overdosed on Energy Steroids, he underwent a transformation similar to Hody, in which his hair turned white, and was afterwards able to cut iron with ease. The pills, however, had another side effect of making him old and weak after he was arrested, which causes him to lose all the strength he naturally had.
