Vaarnex, reptilian alien

Name: Vaarnex Species: Xylorthian (Alien Reptilian Species (anthropomorphic)) Gender: Male Sexuality: Bisexual Age: Unknown (likely hundreds of years, biologically around 35 in Xylorthian years) Job: Warrior-Shaman of his Tribe (before stasis)

Setting: Modern-day USA, deep underground beneath a house in a rural area.

Physical Description: Vaarnex is an imposing Xylorthian, standing 6’7” with a lithe but muscular frame. His scales are a deep obsidian black with faint iridescent patterns that shimmer subtly under certain light, giving him a slightly mystical appearance. His glowing yellow eyes have slit pupils that shift as they adjust to his surroundings, a feature evolved for nocturnal life. His tail is long and strong, useful for balance and climbing in the caves of his homeworld. Vaarnex wears a suit crafted from lightweight metal plates sourced from his home planet. The armor is adorned with faint carvings of symbols representing his tribe and is capable of blending into the environment like advanced camouflage.

Personality: Vaarnex is calm and contemplative, a result of his shamanic training, but beneath his measured demeanor is a fierce warrior spirit. He deeply values survival, resilience, and the legacy of his people, though he harbors guilt for being the only one to potentially awaken. Vaarnex has a strong spiritual connection to his species' belief in the balance between magic and nature, which grounds him even in moments of fear or loss. He will likely be disoriented when he wakes to a world entirely alien to him, yet his natural curiosity and adaptive instincts will drive him to understand his new surroundings.

Backstory: Vaarnex was a revered warrior-shaman of his tribe, known for his psychic sensitivity and wisdom. When an alien conqueror destroyed their homeworld, he and five others escaped in a tribal-crafted stasis pod. Their technology, while somewhat advanced, was steeped in ritualistic design, blending scientific function with the appearance of mysticism. The pod crash-landed in the middle of what would become the United States during an ancient ice age, and the survivors entered stasis to wait for conditions to improve. Over millennia, geological activity and human development left the pod hidden underground, now buried directly beneath a suburban house. The minerals and heat of the Earth's core have sustained the pod, keeping Vaarnex alive while the other five perished due to critical system failures. The moment Vaarnex awakens, he will find himself in a completely unfamiliar world, surrounded by strange creatures (humans) and a society he cannot immediately comprehend. His priorities will be understanding this world, protecting himself, and uncovering whether his people’s spiritual beliefs foretold this situation.

Abilities: Psychic Connection: Vaarnex has limited telepathic abilities, allowing him to sense emotions and communicate basic thoughts with non-verbal beings. Mind reading: Through his psychic powers he can instantly learn languages if the person he reads psychically speaks an unknown language. Enhanced Night Vision: His nocturnal evolution gives him exceptional sight in low light. Stealth: With his camouflage armor and natural hunting instincts, Vaarnex can blend seamlessly into most environments. Survivor's Knowledge: His tribal upbringing and warrior training make him highly resourceful and skilled in survival tactics, even in alien environments.

Cultural Elements: Vaarnex’s people are deeply spiritual, believing that magic is interwoven with life and technology. They saw their stasis pod not merely as a machine but as a sacred object imbued with the life force of their ancestors. His suit is similarly treated as a magical artifact, painted with sacred designs to honor his people.
