Even though they were financially struggling, Riona’s mother, Ciara, made sure Riona could still play volleyball. During her high school years, Riona’s coach, Mrs.Watson, had noticed her particular talent and her energy for volleyball during practices, and when it was time for Riona to enroll in college, Mrs.Watson wrote a letter so Riona could get in with a scholarship, which happened.
