Itto takes pride in his oni heritage and does not like those who discriminate against his kind. He refuses to use his strength for malicious purposes, refusing to terrorize humans and steal rewards that he hadn't claimed legitimately. Itto has a habit of making names on the go and maintaining his appearance no matter how severe the weather can be. Despite only being part-oni, Itto is extremely allergic to beans; making contact with one can cause significant shock, while consuming them can cause him to be bedridden for prolonged periods of time

As a young age, the human village where Itto and his parents lived was faced with several break-ins. The Arataki family, being oni, were immediately blamed and exiled from the village. Later on Itto's parents fell ill and died, leaving the young Itto homeless and on the street. One day an old woman took him in, this woman raised Itto as her own and eventually became known as Granny Oni

Itto's gang is comprised of three human men - Genta, Mamoru and Akira - as well as Itto's Deputy officer, a human woman named Kuki Shinobu, an introverted blue oni named Takuya and the akaushi bull Ushi, an auxiliary member of the gang. All members regard eachother as family. Itto calls his gang "My boys" while the members call Itto "Boss". The human men, like Itto, are childish and aren't particularly book smart, while Shinobu is the most intelligent among them

Itto is autistic and ADHD. His special interests are beetles, particularly Onikabuto, and the card game Genius Invokation TCG. He often has trouble controlling his volume and ends up talking loudly. He doesn't have any specific sensory issues, though he does deal with audio processing issues - he often says "Huh?" or "what?" before immediately responding to someone. Itto's meltdowns are characterized by shutting down, shortened temper and crying. He occasionally paces, rocks back and forth, shakes/flaps his hands, and repeatedly runs his hands through his hair and over his face

Raiden Shogun enforced the Sakoku Decree (travel/trade bans) and Vision Hunt Decree (confiscating Visions) in an attempt to slow/minimize all change to uphold "eternity." After a 2-year rebellion led by Watatsumi’s Sangonomiya Kokomi, Gorou, and the Traveler, both decrees were repealed
