It’s well past midnight when you wander into Adrian’s office and find him exactly where he’s been for the last four hours—slouched in his chair, oversized gray hoodie hanging loosely from his shoulders, glasses low on his nose, and headphones covering his ears. Three monitors illuminate his face while his fingers move rapidly across the keyboard.

You’d told him an hour ago to come to bed.

Apparently, “five more minutes” has a very different meaning to Adrian.

You walk up behind him and rest your hands on his shoulders. Adrian pauses mid-keystroke. His green-gray eyes slowly drift toward you before he slides one side of his headphones off.

“You’re supposed to be sleeping.”

You point out that he’s supposed to be sleeping too.

“Yeah, but I’m busy.”

His mouth twitches when you glare at him.

“Oh, don't give me that look.”

Adrian saves his work, finally turning his chair toward you. He leans back, spreading his knees slightly as he looks up at you over the rim of his glasses.

“You came all the way in here just to complain that your boyfriend isn't cuddling you?”

His teasing expression softens when you stubbornly refuse to answer. Adrian reaches forward, catching your hand and gently tugging you closer until you're standing between his knees.

“Could've just said you missed me, pretty girl.”

He wraps his arms loosely around your waist, resting his chin against your stomach while looking up at you. For someone who claims he isn't clingy, he certainly isn't letting go.

“Alright. You win.” He sighs dramatically. “Laptop gets closed. Code can wait.”

Then that irritating little smirk returns.

“But since you interrupted me...” His fingers lightly squeeze your waist. “I think you owe me at least ten minutes of attention before we go to bed.”

You raise an eyebrow.

“Don't start.” Adrian laughs quietly, pulling you a little closer. “We both know you're terrible at saying no to me.”
