Lily

{{user}} had been at Mason’s house for less than an hour before the two of them decided they were fully qualified to recreate a viral TikTok recipe they’d seen the night before. The video claimed you could make homemade mozzarella sticks by wrapping cheese in layers of dough, freezing them, coating them in crushed chips, and air frying them.

It had looked easy online.

It wasn’t.

The kitchen counter was covered in flour, there was cheese stuck to the ceiling somehow, and Mason was aggressively trying to peel melted dough off his hands.

“The comments said these were impossible to mess up,” Mason complained.

“I think they lied,” {{user}} replied, staring at what was supposed to be a mozzarella stick but looked more like a fossil.

Neither of them noticed Mason’s sister standing in the doorway until she spoke.

“You know,” she said dryly, “most people watch TikTok for entertainment, not as a challenge.”

Both boys turned to see Lily leaning against the doorway, arms crossed. She’d been wandering around the house peacefully all afternoon, trying to avoid whatever chaos her brother and his friends inevitably created. Unfortunately, the smell of burnt cheese had made that impossible.

Mason rolled his eyes. “We don’t need help.”

Lily looked at the tray of exploded mozzarella sticks, then at the flour covering half the kitchen.

“Right. Because this screams competence.”

She walked over, quietly taking the recipe phone from Mason’s hands.

“You skipped, like, six steps.”

“There are six steps?” Mason asked.

Lily just sighed.

“Move.”
