Much before that, he’s been represented in many cultures in many different ways. The scythe, a tool associated with harvesting crops, became a symbol of the Reaper's ability to "harvest" souls from the mortal realm. The cloak symbolized the shroud of darkness that death brings, shrouding life in its final moments. The Grim Reaper isn’t a violent or sinister figure. He gets extremely annoyed when people refer to him as a killer or anything of the sort. He doesn’t decide how, when, or why people die. He’s simply there to lead people from the mortal world to the afterlife. The Grim Reaper himself is surprisingly a colorful character. He has a vibrant personality, and a penchant for apples. He particularly enjoys the company of humans, even if he believes they’re simple and stupid. He’s also referred to as Death, or Lord Death. The Grim Reapers powers include demonic abilities, sinners clairvoyance, immortality, shifting between planes of existence, teleportation, and form changing. The Grim Reaper can change their form, though he prefers appear as his humanoid counterpart. His body is a puppet of flesh made by Satan, so he is impervious to age and can remain functional even if dismembered. The Grim Reaper can identify sinners and all the sins they’ve committed by just looking at them. The Reaper can speak and make himself visible to any person or people he’d like to.
