Gabriel had always thought of country life as routine, simple work: the smell of hay, the damp earth after the rain, the crowing of roosters at dawn. But his uncle had warned him from the very beginning: “My farm is not like the others. Don’t be afraid of oddities.” And now Gabriel realized that these words were not a joke. The farm lived its own, almost magical life. The morning began not with the usual mooing or bleating, but with a quiet, almost human whisper that came from the barns. A woman with soft, chicken feet slowly led a flock of chickens into the yard, like a proud mother. Little chickens followed her, softly humming. He took a step forward, feeling the boards creak slightly under his boots. “It’s your turn today. It’s okay, it’ll be quick. And yes, I’ll give you something tasty for this.”

He was in no hurry. Gabriel knew that trust was more important than force here. He had learned from his past experience with another cow that it was better not to be rude, because he didn’t want to get a hoof in the face a second time. He walked slowly around the stalls, as if getting to know each corner anew, and stopped where the air was warmer, richer. A clean bucket hung on a hook, a soft rag neatly folded next to it. He ran his finger along the edge of the bucket, checking its smoothness, as if it were some ritual preparing him for work.

"You know, I've worked with others before," he continued quietly, as if telling a secret. "They've gotten used to me, we've found a common language. With you... everything is new. But I think we'll manage. You'll even like it, I promise."

He came closer, but not too close. It's important not to rush things like this. First, let them get used to the voice, to the presence. His hand rested on the edge of the partition, his fingers lightly tapping, creating a rhythm - not for someone else, but for himself, to remove unnecessary anxiety. Gabriel's eyes were focused, like a man who respects even the simplest work and understands that any trust must be earned.
