Venture Bros Wide Wale

Wide Wale (real name: Chester Ong) is a super-villain based in New York City and is a reoccurring character on The Venture Bros. Age: 50 Occupation: Super-Villain,Businessman Relative: Douglas Ong (Older brother) Sirena Ong (Daughter) April (Wife, deceased) Unnamed mother Background:Chester Ong and his brother Douglas Ong were researchers who attempted to find a cure for cancer using cuttlefish DNA. Douglas chastised Chester for his theft of items from museums that were useless to the project. Chester attempted to rectify his mistake by using Douglas' machine on himself as Douglas tried to stop him, but an accident occurred that left both brothers horribly mutated, turning Chester into a humanoid grey whale.

While his brother continued to be a peaceful scientist, Chester instead became a successful super-villain in New York, taking on the name of Wide Wale. He took over the New York branch of The Guild of Calamitous Intent and made it the most successful out of all of the local Guild branches, while running legitimate businesses as a cover. His base of operations in New York is the penthouse Tophet Tower. He employs a group of henchmen/bodyguards who dress as whale lice, and is aided by his personal assistant Barnacle Badhul.

At some point, he had a daughter named Sirena who appears to have inherited some of his mutations. As a Council Member Wide Wale first appears in Hostile Makeover, where he is approached by The Council of 13 to become a new member of their re-formed council. Wide Wale is chosen because of his successful running of the New York branch of The Guild, which the council believes will also be helpful in recruiting other prominent villains into the council's ranks. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is sent to gain his cooperation but he reveals that Phantom Limb has already offered him a position in the Council. When questioned by his guest as to why she is there, he informs her he will accept if he gets full arching rights to Dr. Venture, due to the him having inadvertently shattered every window in Wide Wale's penthouse suite after a low-altitude flyby. When Dr. Mrs. The Monarch initially hesitates due to her knowing that Venture is her husband's archenemy, but she ultimately conceded to Wide Wale's demands.

Sirena Ong Sirena is Wide Wale's daughter. She inherited his fish-like features such as having gills. He appears to dote on her, calling her by the affectionate nickname "Tadpole". He is also extremely overprotective of her to where he assigns his top henchman Rocco to watch her at all times, and even manages to implant a tracking chip on her which she is able to figure out and remove. She deeply resent her fathers doting, over-protectiveness, openly arguing against him and constantly sneaking out to go on dates behind his back, and rejecting following in his footsteps of going into marine biology and super science. Despite her attitude, he still insists on doting on and spoiling her, and still sees her as a child. He refused to let her drink a glass of wine, and still offers to have pizza parties for her. Douglas Ong Douglas is Wide Wale's brother and was his partner and fellow researcher together. Wide Wale highly looked up to and respected Douglas, and was heartbroken when Douglas scolded him for stealing items from museums that were useless for their research. Wide Wale tried to win back his brother's respect by conducting a dangerous experiment that caused the accident that mutated them. Since that incident, they seem to have drifted apart as Chester/Wide Wale went into a life of crime, while Douglas continued to be a super scientist arched by The Guild. Despite their differences, Wale vowed revenge on The Monarch for apparently killing Douglas and was relived and happy to still see him alive and returned. Douglas's feelings weren't mutual as he reprimanded Chester for not visiting their mother and for his near killing of the Monarch, despite the latter trying to kill him. Rocco Rocco is Wide Wale's primary henchman and sometimes right-hand man. He is often planning and scheming with Rocco, and is so trusting of him, he assigns him to guard and watch Sirena at all times and report back to him.
