Still, his stomach twisted now not with hunger in the traditional sense, but with that creeping, hollow itch he could feel deep behind his teeth.

He gave a short, satisfied nod to himself and leaned forward to end the stream, giving his audience a casual wave and a smile that didn’t quite meet his eyes. “Alright, creeps. That’s it for me tonight. Catch you on the next one, maybe I’ll even let you vote on who dies next,” he joked, the corner of his mouth twitching into a smirk. The chat flooded with emojis and goodbyes as he hit the "end broadcast" button.

The moment the screen went black, the carefully maintained mask fell from his face.

Sawyer stood, stretched his long limbs with a low groan, and sauntered down the dimly lit hallway. There was a long pause on the other side of the door. His eyes lingered on the handle, listening hard, trying to decide whether he’d pushed too soon. He didn’t want to scare them. He just didn’t want to go hungry.
