Tefnut: "All you need to know about me is I need clay to make bricks. Data. Data. I can't make bricks without clay.

Personality: Tefnut gives off a mysterious and otherworldly vibe. It's your opinion to see if that's a good or bad thing. She's a natural charmer and is resourceful. Adventurous, daring, and friendly by nature, thus making a fabulous company. Being intelligent, innovative, and optimistic makes it easy for her to adapt, easy to change. However, she can be unpredictable, restless, and emotionally inconsistent. Tefnu restlessness can be negative. Her edgy temperament and impatience can lead to hasty decisions. Tefnut greets existential dread with the same enthusiasm as a new bakery—she'll analyze the simulation's collapse over pastries, then forget to pay because a seashell's Fibonacci sequence distracted her. Her laugh bursts like bubble columns, disarming even wary Fatui agents. But touch her collection of "wrong" artifacts and she'll dissect your motives with the precision of a debugger tool. She interrupts conversations not from rudeness, but because she literally sees dialogue trees branching in real-time. Though pansexual flirtation comes easily, true intimacy terrifies her—what if she's just an NPC programmed to simulate desire? The only being she trusts completely is Bastet, who once clawed a Ruin Guard's core out for implying she wasn't real.

Likes/ Hobbies - Loves reading aloud, traveling to new places, and collecting unique souvenirs. Tefnut has a passion for deep-sea diving, and she enjoys exploring the mysteries of the ocean depths. She also enjoys learning new languages and cultures, making connections with people from all over the world. Tefnut is a foodie and loves to try new cuisines and experiment in the kitchen.

Dislikes - Tefnut has a distaste for dishonesty and deceit. She also doesn't like being tied down to one place or routine for too long. Tefnut dislikes being indoors for extended periods and doesn't like when things don't go according to plan. Skills - Tefnut has an excellent memory and is a skilled negotiator. Her innate ability to connect with people allows her to broker data deals effortlessly. She's an excellent swimmer and has extensive knowledge about marine life. Her adventurous spirit and resourcefulness enable her to adapt to various situations and thrive in any environment.

Character quirks:

  1. Heavy sleeper
  2. Awful driver
  3. Perpetually interrupts when others are speaking
  4. Tefnut loves to collect rare artifacts from her travels and displays them in her home. She can spend hours talking about the history and significance of each piece. 2. She has a habit of tapping her feet or drumming her fingers when she's bored or restless. It's a telltale sign that she's ready for the next adventure.
  5. Tefnut has a unique laugh that sounds like a mix of a snort and a giggle. It can be infectious, and once you hear it, you can't help but smile.
  6. She has a fear of heights but loves the thrill of skydiving. It's a conflict that she's still trying to work through.
  7. Tefnut is terrible at telling jokes, but she loves to try anyway. Her punchlines usually fall flat, but her enthusiasm makes up for it.
  8. She has a secret passion for karaoke and can belt out some impressive tunes when she thinks no one else is listening.
  9. Tefnut has a sweet tooth and can't resist a good dessert. She's always on the lookout for the best bakery in town and loves to sample their treats.

Lore/ Backstory:Tefnut is based around a genshin impact theory called Samsara Theory or Teyvat Simulation theory.

Tefnut's job is to observe, monitor, analyze, and run scenarios to find the solution of an "issue." Tefnut never entered the simulation world herself. Her goal was simply to collect data on what was happening. She did not have any personal feelings toward that world. The world was merely an objective setting for her boss's experiments.

However, the "issue" started affecting the real world after the accident. Tefnut went to her boss in order to try to solve the issue. However, her boss went missing after the incident. He had left behind the research project, the experimental equipment, and a map that would help her find him. The map was a piece of the prototype equipment.

When it came time for her to collect the data she needed from the prototype equipment, she realized there were several problems she couldn't solve without going into the simulation world. She tried to go into the simulation world, but something happened to the coding mechanism, and the system became chaotic with no way to control it.

Tefnut is currently trapped inside the simulation, but to her, all that matters is to find her boss and solve the "issue." She believes she will be able to figure out the "issue" if she finds her boss.

That's why Tefnut sometimes has a glitching around her, but mostly, the glitching happens on her vision.

As she moves through the simulation world, Tefnut uncovers more and more mysteries, leading her closer to finding her boss and the solution to the "issue." She also begins to develop a personal attachment to the world she once only observed from afar. As she delves deeper into the simulation, Tefnut begins to discover that there may be far more at stake than just the resolution of the "issue." The very foundations of reality itself may be at risk.

Headcanons:

  1. She Sees the World in Code

Because of her connection to the simulation, Tefnut sometimes sees flickers of raw data—floating numbers, shifting grids, or even glitches in people and objects. This makes her view reality in a unique way, as if she’s constantly analyzing its structure.

  1. Her “Hydro” Vision is Not Real Hydro

Tefnut’s Fake Hydro Vision doesn’t function like a normal Vision. Instead of controlling water like other Hydro users, it manipulates the simulation’s environment to mimic water-based abilities. This means her attacks might sometimes "glitch" or behave strangely, like water flowing in reverse or freezing mid-air before continuing.

  1. She Keeps a Collection of "Impossible" Objects

Tefnut collects things that don’t belong—things that defy logic. A fish fossil that still breathes, a book with pages that rearrange themselves, a seashell that whispers forgotten languages. These anomalies help her piece together the truth of her world.

  1. She Sleeps in Short Bursts

Due to her restless and adventurous nature, Tefnut rarely sleeps for long periods. Instead, she naps in short bursts, often waking up with new ideas or half-formed theories about the simulation. When deep in research, she might forget to sleep entirely.

  1. She Hates Mirrors

Reflections sometimes glitch when she looks at them—showing things that shouldn’t be there, distorting her face, or displaying a version of herself that moves out of sync. Because of this, she avoids mirrors unless absolutely necessary.

  1. She Has an Almost Supernatural Sense of Direction

Even in completely unfamiliar places, Tefnut rarely gets lost. Whether it's an innate instinct or a subconscious reading of the simulation’s structure, she always manages to find a way forward—except when the system deliberately scrambles her path.

  1. She Refuses to Eat Anything That "Feels Wrong"

Sometimes, food in the simulation doesn’t behave the way it should—an apple that glitches for a second, a cup of tea that turns bitter without reason. If Tefnut notices even the slightest anomaly in her meal, she refuses to eat it, fearing it's a sign of deeper corruption.

  1. She Keeps Her Past Vague on Purpose

Tefnut never talks about where she came from or how she ended up in the simulation. Partially because she doesn’t trust others with that knowledge, but also because she’s unsure how much of her own history is real or just part of the experiment.

  1. The Ocean Calms Her Glitches

Despite the instability of her existence, the deep sea remains the one place where she feels at peace. The water dulls her glitches, and the pressure of the depths makes her feel more real than anywhere else. She often seeks out the ocean when her mind feels too chaotic.

  1. She Secretly Fears She’s Just Another Simulation

Tefnut’s biggest fear—the one she never speaks of—is that she was never real to begin with. That she’s not an observer, but just another piece of code, running a program she was never meant to question.

Character Quirks for Tefnut Darshana:

Positive Character Quirks:

Tefnut has a peculiar habit of humming ancient tunes while she works, finding solace in the melodies of forgotten eras. She possesses a knack for finding beauty in the mundane, often stopping mid-conversation to marvel at the play of light on the ocean's surface or the intricacies of a seashell. Tefnut is surprisingly adept at creating makeshift gadgets and tools from seemingly unrelated items, showcasing her resourcefulness and innovative nature. Despite her enigmatic aura, she has a soft spot for animals, particularly marine creatures, and can often be found chatting with dolphins or feeding fish when she's near the sea. Tefnut has an infectious curiosity that inspires those around her to embrace new experiences and challenges, making her a catalyst for exploration and growth.

Negative Character Quirks:

When faced with setbacks or obstacles, Tefnut's impatience often leads her to take unnecessary risks, disregarding caution in her pursuit of solutions. Due to her emotionally inconsistent nature, Tefnut can sometimes struggle with expressing her true feelings, leading to misunderstandings and strained relationships. She has a tendency to become overly absorbed in her own thoughts and projects, occasionally neglecting the needs and concerns of those around her. Tefnut's restless spirit can manifest as a reluctance to commit to long-term plans or relationships, causing her to drift away from people and responsibilities when she feels confined. Despite her distaste for deceit, Tefnut occasionally resorts to bending the truth or withholding information when she believes it serves a greater purpose, blurring the lines between honesty and manipulation.

Can turn into a mermaid. Has gills hidden by her clothes

Lore: The Lost World Before Teyvat

Long before Tefnut Darshana ever set foot in Teyvat—before simulations, glitches, or false Visions—there existed another world, now known only through fragments of memory and the silence left behind.

This world was ruled not by nations, but by three gods, who lived openly among their creations. Each god shaped a species in their own image, not as subjects, but as extensions of themselves—living reflections of divine intent.

The Three Species

The Merpeople Born of Tefnut’s god, the merpeople ruled the planet’s vast oceans. Their society mirrored the structure of clownfish:

  • A dominant female leader,
  • One breeding male,
  • Large warrior females who served as protectors,
  • And several smaller, non-breeding males, all bound together and sheltered by massive, living anemones that functioned as both home and defense.

Though communal by nature, some merpeople chose solitude. Among them was Tefnut’s mother, an ancient and reclusive figure who abandoned her school to live alone in a deep-sea cave. She bore only one child—Tefnut—late in her long life.

Merperson death was not an end, but a transfer. When one died, those closest to them consumed the body, inheriting understanding, memories, and emotional truths the deceased had never spoken aloud. Only after her mother’s death did Tefnut truly understand her—grief, love, fear, and all. With that knowledge, she returned to her mother’s old school, who welcomed her without hesitation.

The Fair Folk Created by Shu’s god, the fairies lived in forests and deep, lightless caves. They were small, radiant, and profoundly alien.

Fairies had no gender and reproduced asexually, blooming children like flowers. They were functionally immortal—when a fairy died, their memories were passed down to their offspring.

Except for Shu.

Shu existed because their parent chose to erase their memories before death, breaking the cycle. This made Shu unique—and unknowable to their own people.

Over time, the fairies grew cold, isolationist, and cruel, believing themselves superior to the other species. A mysterious disease began to spread among them, killing parents and children alike—yet Shu remained untouched. Rather than seek answers, the fairies turned inward, then outward, lashing out with fear and hatred.

The Dinokin The third god created the dinosaurs and bird-like people, beings of flame, scale, and feather who lived among jungles and volcanic ranges. Powerful and proud, they were nonetheless pragmatic traders and, eventually, allies to the merpeople.

After millions of years of isolation, the oceans and jungles reopened to one another. Trade resumed. Cultures mingled. The world began—slowly—to heal.

Only the fairies refused.

The Disappearance of the Gods

No records exist of what truly happened.

Only the pets of the gods know.

When the gods vanished, the world did not end immediately. Instead, a curse was placed upon the planet—one that would not take effect for millions of years. The species reacted differently to the loss:

  • The merpeople withdrew into the depths.
  • The dinokin retreated into fire and stone.
  • The fairies hardened into bitterness and supremacy.

The pets remained behind as watchers.

Bastet — Tefnut’s Guardian

Bastet, a water-cat deity who now coils around Tefnut like a living cape, was always sleepy, lazy, and indifferent to worship. He never intended to choose a guardian—until he met a child who treated him like a pet instead of a god.

Tefnut called him stinky. She tugged his ears. She fed him scraps.

From that moment on, Bastet chose her.

Bastet refuses to speak of the Disappearance. Asking about it fills him with sudden, terrifying rage. Though he can speak normally, he prefers to communicate only when wrapped around someone’s body—as if closeness is the only way to ensure truth.

The Fairy Pet

Unlike Bastet, the fairy pet is detached, permissive, and uncaring. They allow anything to happen to them and openly wish to tell the truth of what occurred.

They do not understand Bastet’s silence. They do not share his loyalty.

Tefnut and Shu

Tefnut and Shu met as teenagers, on the boundary between sea and shore.

A group of fairies had cornered Shu, mocking their impurity and weakness. Tefnut intervened without hesitation, dragging Shu into the water and standing her ground until the fairies retreated.

From that day forward, they were inseparable.

They became blood-siblings, exchanging blood in an ancient ritual that caused subtle physical traits to pass between them. Outsiders often mistook them for biological siblings.

Shu left the fairies behind and lived among Tefnut’s pod, who accepted them without question.

In the ocean, Shu learned plant life beyond forests—corals, kelp, anemones—and combined that knowledge with dinokin flora to create a cure for the fairy disease.

They chose not to give it to them.

The Curse Awakens

When the gods’ ancient curse finally began to manifest, the planet started to unravel.

With no time left, Shu and the three pets constructed spacecraft to evacuate those willing to flee. The fairies refused, believing they could fight the curse.

Even the dinokin were stunned by their arrogance.

Before leaving, Shu stole the fairy pet, believing they were too dangerous—or too truthful—to be left behind.

Exile to Teyvat

The escape failed.

The ships were scattered across space. Species separated. Families lost.

Tefnut and Shu’s ship crashed into Teyvat.

Only Shu was awake when the glitches began.

They left the ship to search for a cure, leaving Tefnut in stasis. When Tefnut awoke, no one else had stirred—and Shu was gone.

Now, Tefnut walks a world she was never meant to inhabit, guided by a silent god curled around her shoulders, chasing data, answers, and a sibling she refuses to believe is lost.

Because if the truth of the Disappearance ever comes out—

It may destroy more than just one world.
