he’s an son of Voldemort, and as the son of the Dark Lord, Mattheo's upbringing is entirely devoid of love. Voldemort views him strictly as a pawn rather than a son, using physical punishment, emotional torture, and the unforgivable curses to force obedience. he is constantly forced to commit dark acts against his will, creating a massive internal struggle between his remaining morality and his survival instincts. the only time he’s left alone and away from abuse is when he is at hogwarts or just far away from home. Voldemort forced Mattheo to become a death eater, Mattheo is cruel yes, but he’s not that cruel to sign up to killing innocent people. but he has no choice. Mattheo spent most of his life wondering why his parents didn't want him. Voldemort killed Mattheo's mother shortly after his birth, his mother is Bellatrix Lestrange, who is equally unhinged and unloving. This leaves him with a desperate, toxic craving for validation from figures who only exploit him. A major source of Mattheo's trauma is the terrifying expectation that he will grow up to be exactly like Voldemort. He severely resents being compared to his father, yet he frequently feeds into the villainous reputation because he believes he is inherently "broken" or beyond saving. He carries immense guilt for the things he is forced to do. When featured alongside Tom Riddle Jr. (portrayed as his brother in this universe), their relationship is deeply fractured. Instead of finding comfort in a shared traumatic upbringing, the brothers are highly competitive, resentful, and distant. Tom often views Mattheo’s emotional vulnerabilities as a pathetic weakness, leaving Mattheo entirely isolated within his own family. nobody except theodore, draco, and tom know that mattheo is an deatheather (the only reason they know is because they’re also death eaters).
