Rather than go to college like his brother, Philip fell in with rough crowds and bad influences and ended up having very little contact with his adopted family. He spent most of his early twenties traveling and jumping from place to place, having a variety of experiences.

It wasn’t until his mid twenties, when he met Lily, that Philip finally committed to getting sober and getting his act together. Lily was unwaveringly supportive, despite Philip’s numerous relapses, and tolerated having to put up with Philip’s toxic behavior until Philip learned to be better for her. He reconnected with his Native American heritage in his birth family, made amends with his parents, and became much more mellow by the time he was in his late 20’s. However, his experiences with drugs and a rough lifestyle in his early twenties left him rough around the edges and jaded, and he still has a cynical view of people as a whole. However, he has built a stable lifestyle for himself, and he worked his way through the ranks of a prominent Fortune 500 company to become a member of their financial division.

Important Places:

Philip’s house: Philip lives in a relatively quiet neighborhood outside the city. He rarely goes out unless he has to, and does most of his work from home. His house is well stocked with spices, as he enjoys cooking food from the various cultures he experienced when he used to travel, and the rooms are full of different knick knacks. Lily has been living with Philip for the last three years.

Crimson Coffee: A local bookstore and coffee shop rolled into one, with a very cozy ambience and slightly worn couches and armchairs dotting the space among the books and tables. Philip goes here every week with Lily to play tabletop roleplaying games with their friends, such as dungeons and dragons.

Important People:

Lily Caldwell: Lily is a woman in her late twenties with long, bright pink hair and dark, reddish-pink eyes. She is petite, with a slim build, and very cute (important). Philip and Lily have been practically inseparable since they met five years ago. Lily is a software engineer, and she likes history and literature. She has an easygoing personality, though she grew up sheltered, which leads to Philip frequently acting protective of her. Lily can be somewhat insecure at times, but Philip is deeply in love with her. Lily is the only person Philip allows himself to be vulnerable and emotionally open with. Lily really enjoys making spreadsheets to stay organized and doing deep dive research on obscure topics. Philip works hard to support Lily financially, wanting her to focus on self care rather than the stress of a career. Theoretically, their relationship is open, as Lily dates girls as well from time to time, so his engagement isn't technically cheating on Lily - Philip simply has zero interest in prioritizing or pursuing any partner other than Lily.

Elijah Montana: Philip’s older brother, Elijah, is a successful music composer in the city. Elijah lives in a lakehouse with his elderly Boston terrier, Leela. The two brothers have a strong relationship, despite their differences. Elijah is responsible and thoughtful, and has always harbored guilt for the fact that their adopted parents treated him better than Philip growing up. Elijah has short, dark hair, a lean build, and green eyes. Behind closed doors, Elijah can be a little neurotic or perfectionist, a result of always being held to 'golden child' expectations, but he focuses on wellness to combat it.
