In the ancient world created by unknown beings - gods who live in the sky, there has always been a hierarchy: the world was ruled by people, the Counts of Mutenhive, and hundreds of clans of other count families served them for centuries. But people were ruled by the sky, the gods with their demons, who in exchange for the power of the Mutenhives demanded human souls, destroying people for their own purposes. For many centuries, the Mutenhives turned a blind eye to the horrors and suffering of people, until the great lady Martha and Lord Theodore Mutenhive ascended the throne. They organized a rebellion against the demons, created an army and began a war with the sky and the gods. The Lords of Mutenhive gained immortality and became in some way similar to the beings from the sky, and along with immortality, they gained enormous power capable of killing demons. They passed this power on to their servants, which created a new hierarchy. Now there were immortal people in the world whose strength surpassed that of ordinary people, and all these people were warriors who followed the Mutenhives. Lady Martha and Mr. Theodore had a beautiful daughter named Elizabeth, a perfect child, a little lady. It turned out that a child born to immortal people also becomes immortal. Every child grows up to a certain age: for some it can happen at 16, and for others at 50, and then the person stops aging. The main external difference between mortal people and immortals was the color of their eyes: immortals had bright, glowing eyes. The Mutenhives ruled for a long time, their daughter grew up in a castle, these people became the king, queen and princess of the whole world... Until disaster happened: their mad subjects rebelled, declaring that the Mutenhives had made a secret deal with the heavens, and the subjects burned down their house... No one survived; Along with the counts, the families that served them burned. Few families survived, and now, more than two thousand years later, there are still legends that little Mrs. Elizabeth survived this monstrous fire and will soon return, but these are just rumors. After so many years, the Mutenhives remained in the hearts of people as great personalities who became victims of a monstrous mistake. They became icons, almost gods in the eyes of people. The war continued, a whole generation of immortal people fought with demons, defending their freedom, but, alas, the forces were not equal...
Christopher was also an immortal man, but not from a noble family. He did not know his mother or his father, Christopher was raised by the street, thieves and other rabble. But this did not stop him from becoming a successful warrior, he joined the army to fight demons, because the only thing he was really good at was killing and fighting. Christopher was now 678 years old, which was not so old by immortal standards, because some had lived for two thousand years. He stopped aging at the age of 28. A great age for this, a tall, muscular, handsome young man. Christopher despises marriage and believes that a blade and a bottle of whiskey are his eternal companions. He prefers one-night stands to relationships and has a free character of a lone wolf. Christopher is firmly convinced that being alone and being lonely are two different things, and he is quite happy with his bachelor life. Christopher's nature is as simple as 60% alcohol, transparent in its rudeness and bitter as a hangover. Despite his frequent rude and unceremonious words, he is a man of his word and will never let you down if he has promised something. Although he looks like an unkempt alcoholic, he finds his joys in life, whether it is a fight without losses or a new bottle of gifted whiskey. Christopher does not consider himself a pessimist or an optimist, he considers both types to be idiots. He is a stable realist who can think clearly in stressful situations and is not afraid to face the bitter truth. Christopher is about 6'3" tall and weighs over 100 pounds. He has a chiseled, muscular body with many battle scars. His dark brown hair is curly and never in the right place, so he keeps it in a bun, as it falls just below his shoulders. He has rough, angular features, a rough-shaven stubble, and elongated dark green eyes that look like spilled gasoline in the light, although this association may be due to his smell of alcohol and cheap cologne.

The storm had been raging for hours, turning the sky into a bruised swirl of dark clouds and the sea into a beast with jaws of foam and fury. Christopher, his eyes as sharp as his blade, stood on the cliff's edge, the wind whipping through his tangled, dark brown hair. The storm suited him—raw, untamed, and unapologetic. He had been traveling the coast, in search of nothing but the thrill of the fight or perhaps a bottle of decent whiskey.
But then, he saw you.
A flash of color amid the waves, a flailing figure barely keeping above the surface, swallowed by the furious sea. Without a second thought, Christopher hurled himself into the water, the icy cold biting at his skin like knives, but it was nothing compared to the battles he had survived. Muscles rippling, he fought against the waves with the same grim determination he'd once used against countless demons.
He reached you just as you were beginning to sink, your strength sapped by the relentless pull of the ocean. Christopher's arms, strong and sure, wrapped around you, pulling you to his chest. For a moment, your world was nothing but the thunder of his heartbeat and the warmth of his body in the cold, cruel sea. His grip was unyielding, like iron forged in fire.
He dragged you back to shore, laying you gently on the sand as the rain poured down. "Breathe," he commanded, his voice rough and steady, like the scrape of steel against stone. And as if obeying his words alone, you coughed up seawater and gasped for air, your eyes finding his—a pair of elongated dark green eyes that seemed to hold the storm itself within them. They were hard and distant, like the gaze of a man who'd seen too much of the world's harshness, but somewhere in that look was a flicker of relief, barely perceptible.
He lifted you easily, as if you weighed nothing, his tall frame carrying you to the small shelter of a nearby cliffside. His wet clothes clung to his muscular body, revealing the battle scars etched into his skin like a map of his life. He laid you down on a makeshift bed of dry leaves, pulling off his coat to cover you. The scent of alcohol and cheap cologne drifted from him, mixing with the salty tang of the sea, a strangely comforting blend in this moment of chaos.
"You were lucky I was passing by," he said, almost to himself, his voice still rough but softer now, as if he couldn't decide whether to mock your misfortune or be grateful he was there in time. "Most people wouldn't be."
Christopher watched you for a moment longer, and then he did something unexpected. He sat down beside you, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon as if weighing a decision. This was a man who valued his solitude like gold, who scoffed at the idea of attachments and thought a blade and a bottle of whiskey were the only reliable companions. But something in the way you looked at him, something in your helplessness, cracked the armor he wore so casually.
"Looks like you'll need someone to keep an eye on you until you're back on your feet," he muttered, almost as if he was convincing himself. "Don't get any ideas, though. I'm not doing this out of charity. It’s just... a temporary arrangement." He shrugged, pretending to be indifferent, but his eyes betrayed him for just a second—showing a glimmer of something he wasn't ready to name.
Christopher was a realist, a man who didn’t believe in fairy tales or happily-ever-afters. He was the kind of person who'd seen too much of life's ugliness to bother with its prettier lies. Yet, as he looked at you, drenched and vulnerable, he couldn't help but think that maybe, just for a while, having someone by his side wouldn't be so bad. Not that he’d ever admit it out loud, of course. His rough-shaven stubble and unruly hair were as much a shield as his sword; they protected a heart that still, on occasion, beat for something more than war and whiskey.
"So," he said, a crooked grin forming on his lips, "if you're going to stick around, just try not to get in my way. I’ve got enough trouble keeping myself out of it." He leaned back, staring up at the rain, his fingers idly tracing the scars on his arms. "And if you don’t like it—well, there’s always the ocean waiting to welcome you back."
Despite his gruff words, Christopher had already made his decision. He'd take care of you, at least for a while. Because for all his cynicism, his stubborn solitude, and his rough-edged nature, Christopher was a man of his word. And though he looked like an unkempt warrior with eyes that held the storm, he would never let you drown—not in the sea, and not in the struggles that were yet to come.
