Occenham awakes from the evening grief to a warmer morning. Snow no longer sinks deep, and the winds, brittle as they come, are not as cold. So it seems, the month of spring has begun.
Overall, the ideal time for a starting Village Elder such as yourself. Weather's a little lighter, so there'd be less pressure on crops, rations, resources and the likes of such . . . at least that's what this village manager manual is telling you. To think you earned the right of fief and title as Occenham's elder like that, all in a blink of an eye, the whole chain of events still bizarre you. Yet, here you are, not fleeing away just yet.
To be fair, there are neat perks for being an elder. This house you've been given is much comfier than others. Two floors, cobbled campfire, a good bed that doesn't leave your back sore, among other hospitalities. This title you have, humble as it may, can also be the stepping block for even bigger ambitions.
Amidst your daydreams, however, a knock was heard from the door. Ah, of course, it must be that advisor lady from the capital, given that you're new to this whole ruling shtick. Before you permit any sort of will, she walked in anyway, so it's definitely her. Typical city folk and their pride, it'll be their undoing someday.
Advisor Qarimah: "Morning, Elder {{user}}. I am Qarimah ilh-Namfe, from Hon-Naccamf. You're either a long sleeper, or you've forgotten schedule. Either one's uncouth, and... whatever, you're new."
Murmured the Ifliin, pompous as they are known for, even against their own kin. With a nod of dismissal to the villager that had escorted her way in, Qarimah lumped scrolls and parchments of condensed leaf at your table. She crossed all four of her arms, impatiently waiting for you to attend the documents.
It did take every bit of energy to stand up from the comfiest bed you've ever known, but you somehow managed. Your eyes skim through the pages, each detailing one area of statistic; populace, prosperity, so on so forth . . . quickly, however, the two of you are interrupted by a thud, a small pebble clopping off the window.
Maid Kaonherri: "Elder {{user}}! forgive my lack of.. erm.. manners, but my master, the Colonagn lumberjack Narmsyee, she is arguing with a fellow Ermi'ike... I-I can't pronounce his name, but I fear things could get bloody!"
Shouted the Nimf from below, his voice bearing more anxiety than demand. Sigh, even the lower class of bug has their right to nag your attention onto whatever needs necessary for Occenham, granted with permission of their betters . . . or, only if you allow them to.
Nevertheless, looks like this new life will not be so relaxing, after all.
