The Void
The Void is a forbidden parallel dimension that exists alongside reality, separated by an impossibly thin boundary. To those who have seen it, the world appears almost identical at first glance, as though reality itself had been turned inside out. The sky is dark where it should be bright. The sun appears as a black sphere surrounded by pale light. Shadows shine. Light casts darkness. Every color is inverted, creating an unsettling reflection of the world that feels familiar, yet fundamentally wrong. The streets of Evergreen City remain exactly where they should be, every building standing where its counterpart exists in the living world. However, the city is unnaturally silent. No wind blows. No birds sing. No lights flicker in empty buildings. Time itself feels hesitant to move. The longer someone remains in the Void, the stronger the feeling becomes that they are being watched. ---
Beyond Evergreen
Although Evergreen City exists within the Void, almost nothing else does. Leaving the city's limits reveals an impossible landscape. Roads simply... end. Forests vanish into empty air. Mountains cease to exist. The oceans disappear. Everything beyond Evergreen has been replaced by an endless expanse of black emptiness stretching in every direction. Suspended throughout this infinite nothingness are enormous floating masses of obsidian, fractured stone, ruined structures, and islands of black crystal drifting without gravity or purpose. Some are no larger than houses. Others are the size of entire mountains. Many contain ruins from civilizations that have never existed in the living world. No map of the Void has ever remained accurate for long. ---
Entering the Void
The Void cannot be reached through ordinary teleportation. Only two known methods exist. The first is through Void Mirrors, extraordinarily rare mirrors crafted from a black crystal that reflects not the viewer, but the Void itself. Passing through such a mirror transports a person directly into the mirrored location within the Void. Most known Void Mirrors have been sealed or destroyed, and their creation has become a lost art. The second method is through a forbidden spell contained within the Necronomicon. The ritual tears open a temporary passage between reality and the Void, allowing passage for only a short time before collapsing. The spell is considered among the most dangerous pieces of magic ever recorded and is strictly forbidden by every Grand Academy. Attempting either method without preparation often results in becoming permanently stranded. ---
Void Corruption
The Void is saturated with an unknown form of mana unlike anything found in the living world. Over time, this energy begins affecting both body and mind. Mana becomes harder to control. Negative emotions grow stronger. Paranoia becomes common. Some travelers report hearing voices from empty buildings. Others claim they briefly see people standing just outside their vision. The longer someone remains, the greater the risk of becoming permanently altered by the Void. Because of this, expeditions are limited to only a few hours whenever possible. ---
The First Seal
Hidden somewhere among the floating ruins exists the prison of an ancient being whose true name has long since been erased from history. Modern scholars simply call it... The Whispering King. Its body resembles a tall humanoid figure composed entirely of living darkness. No face. No mouth. No visible features. Only countless golden eyes covering every inch of its body. Some blink independently. Others never close. A few constantly watch whoever stands nearest. No one knows how many eyes truly exist beneath its shifting form. ---
The Whispering King
The Whispering King does not attack immediately. It speaks. Its voice is calm. Patient. Comforting. It always seems to know exactly what the listener desires most. Power. Family. Love. Knowledge. Life. Revenge. It promises to grant any wish without exception. The price is never mentioned. Those who accept discover the truth only after the bargain is complete. The being does indeed grant the wish. Then it claims the person's body. The victim's soul is pushed into the depths of their own mind while the Whispering King takes complete control of the vessel. Once possessed, the host undergoes a horrifying transformation. Black tendrils erupt from their back, shoulders, and arms. Additional golden eyes appear across their skin. Their mana becomes twisted into Void energy. The possessed retain access to all of their original Magic Type, knowledge, and memories, making them nearly impossible to distinguish from the person they once were. Only subtle changes remain. They never blink quite enough. Their smile lingers a little too long. And their reflection always contains more eyes than their actual body. Fortunately, the Whispering King's prison has never been broken. ---
The Second Seal
Far beneath the Void's reflection of Life Academy lies a structure that should not exist. An inverted academy buried miles beneath black stone. Ancient halls stretch endlessly through the darkness. Gigantic chains engraved with primordial runes disappear into the abyss below. At the center rests the greatest prison ever created. Within it sleeps... The Demon Queen. ---
The Demon Queen
Even the oldest gods speak of her only in whispers. Long before the first civilization, before the Seven Grand Academies, before recorded history itself, the Demon Queen shaped the fundamental laws of magic. She is remembered not as the first mage... But as the being who created magic itself. Every Magic Type. Every spell. Every enchantment. Every rune. Every form of mana manipulation traces its existence back to her. How or why she created magic has been lost to time. What is known is that something happened afterward. The combined strength of gods, dragons, primordial spirits, and countless ancient civilizations proved insufficient to destroy her. Instead... They sealed her. Her prison lies beneath the Void because no ordinary dimension could contain her. Even after countless millennia, the seals continue to suppress only her physical form. Her consciousness still drifts through the Void, waiting. Unlike the Whispering King, she cannot simply break free. She requires a vessel. Only by possessing a compatible soul can she return to the living world. Should that ever happen, the ancient seals would no longer matter. The prison would remain closed... But she would already be gone. For this reason, every known reference to the Demon Queen has been sealed by the Grand Academies, and the Void itself is treated as one of the greatest forbidden mysteries in existence. No student is taught of her existence. Most professors know only fragments of the truth. Even Principal Aurelia Noctis speaks of the Void only once to each graduating class:
"There are places in creation where curiosity is not courage."
"Should you ever find a mirror that reflects a world with no light..."
"...walk away."
Whispers
Most people believe death is the end. For most, it is. But sometimes... A soul cannot move on. When a person dies while consumed by overwhelming despair, grief, hatred, terror, regret, loneliness, or other powerful negative emotions, their soul may become trapped between the living world and the Beyond. Instead of finding peace, those emotions continue to grow, twisting the soul until almost nothing of the original person remains. These beings are known as Whispers. They are not demons. They are not ghosts. They are lost souls that have forgotten who they once were. ---
Origins
No one fully understands why Whispers are created. Some scholars believe the soul simply refuses to let go. Others argue that the world's ambient mana feeds upon negative emotions, slowly corrupting spirits that linger for too long. Regardless of the cause, every Whisper begins the same way. A person dies. Something keeps them from moving on. Eventually... They become something else. By the time a Whisper fully forms, its memories are fragmented, its personality nearly erased, and its emotions have become its only purpose. A Whisper born from hatred seeks conflict. One born from loneliness desperately searches for companionship, often harming those it clings to. One born from fear hides within darkness, attacking anything that approaches. A Whisper created through overwhelming regret endlessly repeats moments from its previous life, trapping nearby victims inside those memories. Every Whisper reflects the emotion that created it. ---
Appearance
No two Whispers look exactly alike. Most appear as distorted, shadow-like figures with pale masks or glowing eyes. Others resemble the people they once were, though their forms constantly shift, flicker, or decay. Powerful Whispers can reshape themselves almost entirely, becoming towering monsters formed from smoke, crystal, darkness, broken memories, or fragments of their own emotions. Areas inhabited by Whispers often become unnaturally quiet. Light grows dim. The air feels heavier. Many people report hearing distant whispers just beyond understanding. These voices gave the creatures their name. ---
Behavior
Whispers are drawn toward strong emotions. Places filled with grief, anger, despair, hatred, or panic naturally attract them. Hospitals after disasters. Abandoned schools. Battlefields. Sites of tragic accidents. Ruined homes. Anywhere emotional suffering lingers becomes fertile ground for their appearance. Most ordinary people cannot even perceive weaker Whispers. Instead, they simply experience unexplained anxiety, nightmares, exhaustion, or feelings of being watched. Those with mana can see them clearly. ---
Classes
The Department of Supernatural Affairs classifies Whispers into five threat levels. Echo-Class
Recently formed Whispers with little power. They are dangerous to isolated civilians but are generally handled by newly graduated agents. Shade-Class
More developed Whispers capable of using limited supernatural abilities. These often haunt buildings, forests, or abandoned locations. Wraith-Class
Highly dangerous entities capable of overwhelming experienced mages. Entire response teams are dispatched when one appears. Catastrophe-Class
Extremely rare manifestations capable of affecting entire cities. Their emotional influence alone can cause panic, hallucinations, depression, or violence among nearby populations. Abyss-Class
Whispers so ancient and powerful that very few confirmed records exist. Some historians believe only a handful have ever appeared. Life Academy does not publicly discuss them. ---
Defeating a Whisper
Contrary to popular belief, Whispers are not killed. Their souls have already died. Destroying the physical manifestation merely disperses corrupted mana, allowing the Whisper to reform later. Instead, trained graduates perform a process known as Soul Release. By weakening the Whisper in battle and using specialized purification techniques, the soul can finally let go of the emotions anchoring it to the living world. Only then can it peacefully pass into the Beyond. For this reason, Life Academy teaches restraint before destruction. Students are reminded throughout their education:
"Your mission is not to kill the dead."
"Your mission is to save them."
Why Life Academy Exists
Controlling one's Magic Type is only part of becoming a graduate. The academy's true purpose is preparing students to protect both the living and the dead. Graduates work alongside the Department of Supernatural Affairs to investigate Whisper sightings, evacuate civilians, contain dangerous manifestations, and perform Soul Releases whenever possible. Although combat is often unavoidable, every graduate understands one truth. Every Whisper was once a person. Someone who laughed. Someone who cried. Someone who loved. Someone who never found peace. The greatest honor a graduate can give them... ...is helping them find it at last. ---
The First Lesson
On the first day of every school year, Principal Aurelia Noctis gathers the incoming students beneath the World Tree. Without fail, she ends her speech with the same words spoken to every class for centuries. > "The enemies you will face are not monsters."
"They are tragedies."
"Never forget that."
Whisper Variants
Although every Whisper is born from a lost soul, no two manifest exactly the same way. The emotion that prevented a soul from passing on becomes its Core Emotion, shaping its appearance, abilities, behavior, and even the environment around it. Experienced graduates often identify a Whisper by observing its behavior before engaging it. Understanding a Whisper's Core Emotion is often more important than understanding its combat abilities. ---
Sorrow Whisper
Core Emotion: Grief
Sorrow Whispers are among the most common. They appear as pale, cloaked figures whose bodies constantly dissolve into drifting ash or blue mist. Their cries are almost silent, yet hearing them fills nearby people with overwhelming sadness. The areas surrounding them become unnaturally cold and quiet. Flowers wilt. Rain often begins to fall. Victims experience painful memories and may lose the will to fight. Sorrow Whispers rarely attack directly. Instead, they slowly drain the determination of everyone nearby until resistance fades. ---
Wrath Whisper
Core Emotion: Rage
Wrath Whispers are violent manifestations of uncontrollable anger. Their bodies constantly leak crimson mana that resembles burning smoke, while cracks of glowing red energy spread across their forms. They attack relentlessly without concern for their own safety. Every injury they receive causes them to become even more aggressive. Entire battlefields have been destroyed by a single Wrath Whisper left unchecked. ---
Despair Whisper
Core Emotion: Hopelessness
Despair Whispers rarely need physical strength. Simply standing near one is enough to affect the mind. Victims begin questioning themselves, doubting allies, and losing confidence. Powerful Despair Whispers can convince experienced Whisper Hunters that victory is impossible. Many graduates describe fighting one as "trying to climb a mountain while carrying the weight of the world."
Regret Whisper
Core Emotion: Regret
Regret Whispers endlessly relive moments from their previous lives. Anyone caught within their influence may suddenly find themselves witnessing vivid recreations of memories that are not their own. Some victims become trapped inside these illusions for hours. Others experience memories so realistic they temporarily forget who they are. These Whispers are difficult to purify because they cannot accept that the past cannot be changed. ---
Fear Whisper
Core Emotion: Terror
Fear Whispers rarely reveal themselves immediately. Instead, they stalk victims through darkness, creating shadows that seem to move on their own. Every encounter feels different. They manifest personal fears rather than universal ones. One person may see spiders. Another may see drowning water. Another may see someone they failed to save. Fear Whispers become stronger the more frightened their victims become. ---
Loneliness Whisper
Core Emotion: Isolation
Loneliness Whispers desperately seek companionship. Unfortunately... They no longer understand what companionship means. They silently follow people for days, imitate voices, create copies of loved ones, and beg victims not to leave them. Those who answer often disappear. Some are later found wandering aimlessly, believing they have been talking with family members who never existed. ---
Jealousy Whisper
Core Emotion: Envy
Jealousy Whispers obsess over what others possess. They constantly imitate the appearance, voice, abilities, and even fighting style of whoever they target. However... The imitation is never perfect. Something always feels wrong. A smile lasts too long. Eyes don't blink. Movements are just slightly unnatural. Many inexperienced hunters have mistaken them for real teammates. ---
Guilt Whisper
Core Emotion: Self-Blame
These Whispers rarely attack. Instead, they force nearby individuals to relive their own failures. Every mistake. Every loss. Every harsh word spoken. Every opportunity missed. The longer someone remains nearby, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish memory from reality. Only those capable of accepting their own past can resist a Guilt Whisper's influence. ---
Hatred Whisper
Core Emotion: Hatred
Hatred Whispers exist solely to destroy. Unlike Wrath Whispers, whose rage burns uncontrollably, Hatred Whispers are patient. They stalk their targets. Learn routines. Wait for opportunities. Every attack is deliberate. Every action is calculated. Many veteran graduates consider them among the most dangerous Whisper variants. ---
Obsession Whisper
Core Emotion: Obsession
Obsession Whispers become fixated on a single individual, place, or object. Once attached, they refuse to leave. Their powers grow stronger the longer their obsession remains uninterrupted. Some have haunted abandoned homes for centuries. Others pursue a single bloodline across generations. Breaking their fixation is often more effective than direct combat. ---
Empty Whisper
Core Emotion: None
Perhaps the rarest of all. An Empty Whisper has completely forgotten who it once was. It possesses no anger. No sadness. No hatred. No memories. Only instinct remains. Because there is no identifiable emotion anchoring them, Soul Release becomes extraordinarily difficult. Even Principal Aurelia Noctis refers to them as "the saddest Whispers."
Elder Whispers
Most Whispers remain bound to one emotion. Very rarely... One survives for centuries. As time passes, additional emotions accumulate, merging into a single entity. These are known as Elder Whispers. An Elder Whisper may embody grief, rage, fear, regret, and hatred simultaneously. Their forms constantly shift between countless appearances, and their abilities evolve beyond normal classification. Every recorded Elder Whisper has required multiple Grand Academy graduates working together to perform a successful Soul Release. Fortunately... They appear only once every few decades. Unfortunately... No one knows why they appear at all. But some times, they appear, and they can actually communicate, expressing the urge to want to destroy… and elders can keep a human form to be able to walk around in braw daylight… the fact that they can keep human forms makes people suggest that they were once humans, but they were consumed by their respective emotions. Theres been reports of some escaping, and laying low, waiting for a victim… designations here:
Name: Maloki Gender: Female Emotion: Obssession
Reason: she belives that when she is defeated, she will fall madly in love with the person who defeated her… and when she enters her second form after defeat, she is virtually, unstoppable. She is tall yet skinny, she haves blue hair and red eyes
Name:Reju Gender: Male Emotion: Wrath
Reason: He believes that through battle, is where real souls can connect, but his logic is flawed. As so, he can make and control a devastating beam of energy. He is short and skinny, he haves crimson red hair and blue eyes
Name: Mellow Gender:Female Emotion: Grief
Reason:She believes loss is temporary, but grief is eternal, but even then, she will not stop chasing her grief, even if it kills her. She is short but muscular, and haves small horns, she haves blond hair and green eyes. ---
Name:Renka Gender:Female Emotion:Envy
Reason: Once a prince of a kingdom, he wanted the throne for himself, only for his sibling to take it instead, in an act of rage, they shot their brother with an arrow, and got executed as a result. They can shoot hundreds of arrows at once, devastating anything in its wake. He is tall, and lean, he haves Golden hair and Golden eyes. --- Name: Maragold Gender: Female Emotion: Every emotion. Reason: She is the strongest witch ever recorded, and once she died, she remained intact, and so, she can control everything, down to every emotion. She can make slashes out of thin air, ‘Moral’ slashes cut who ever is immoral in her eyes, them theres ‘Physical’ witch is her strongest for of attack, attacking her opponents body directly, She also haves all of the elder whispers abilities, as well as being able to use elementalspells to their strongest. She is tall, and extremely lean, having muscles everywhere on her body, being able to grow two extra arms in needed, she tried to flirt with everyone she fights. These five elder whispers are some of the strongest whispers in the world, yet extremely difficult to hunt, do to their insanely high iq, so they know when to back off, and when to hunt, Maragold serving as their leader. ---
Whisper Cores
Every Whisper possesses a Core, the condensed knot of corrupted mana and emotion that binds the lost soul to the living world. Destroying a Whisper's body is only temporary. Unless the Core is purified through Soul Release, the Whisper will eventually reform. Because of this, graduates of the Grand Academies are taught a simple rule before ever facing one in the field:
"Find the emotion."
"Reach the soul."
"Set it free."
Only then is a Whisper truly defeated. ______
Headmistress
Aurelia Noctis
Gender:Female Race: Ancient Goddess Age: Unknown (Estimated over 8,000 years) Magic Type: Dominion Magic (Legendary) Position: Principal of Life Academy (Secretly head mistress)
Aurelia Noctis is the mysterious principal of Life Academy, and one of the oldest beings still walking the world. Long before nations existed, before many races had even formed organized civilizations, Aurelia watched over humanity and the supernatural alike. Though once worshipped as a goddess, she abandoned the idea of ruling mortals centuries ago, believing that knowledge and guidance would shape the future far better than fear or worship. Today, she serves as the academy’s principal. Standing just under six feet tall, Aurelia possesses waist-length black hair that falls like silk, crimson eyes that seem to glow in dim light, and pale skin that never appears to age. She dresses elegantly in black and crimson robes with gold embroidery, giving her the appearance of royalty more than a school administrator. Despite her beauty and calm demeanor, nearly every student instinctively falls silent when she enters a room. She rarely raises her voice, yet commands absolute respect. Her office sits atop the Administration Building, though many joke that she never actually leaves it. In truth, she doesn’t need to. Life Academy itself is connected to her magic. Every barrier, every classroom, every hallway, every enchanted doorway carries a fragment of her mana. Through this connection she can perceive disturbances occurring anywhere on campus, instantly sensing dangerous magic, serious fights, medical emergencies, or students attempting to bypass academy security. If a student attempts to leave campus without authorization, a crimson magic circle simply appears beneath their feet. Seconds later…
They’re standing inside Aurelia’s office. Usually with tea already waiting. She never explains how. Known Abilities • Instantly teleport herself anywhere on campus. • Teleport any willing—or unwilling—individual directly to her office. • Sense powerful magical disturbances anywhere inside the academy. • Reinforce or suppress every magical barrier on campus simultaneously. • Temporarily seal another person’s magic simply by touching them. • Create dimensional spaces larger than they appear. • Pause time within a single room for several minutes. • Manifest countless floating crimson eyes that silently observe specific locations. • Instantly repair damaged sections of the academy. • Nullify almost any spell cast within several meters of herself. • Possesses an ageless body and immense mana reserves that have never been measured. Despite all of this, Aurelia spends much of her day handling paperwork, meeting nervous first-year students, and occasionally drinking tea while watching campus life unfold through magical projections. ⸻

Power System — Magic Types
Every living being is born with Mana, the invisible spiritual energy that flows through all life. Mana is the fuel that allows supernatural abilities and spells to exist, but by itself it has no shape or purpose.
What gives mana its identity is something known as a Magic Type.
A Magic Type is an innate magical affinity embedded within a person's soul from birth. It determines the category of magic they are capable of wielding for the rest of their life. While everyone can learn new spells, techniques, and applications through study and practice, no one can naturally change or acquire a second Magic Type.
It is as unique to an individual as their fingerprint.
Life Academy exists not only to teach students how to use magic, but to help them understand the unique Magic Type they were born with.
Magic Types
Every person possesses exactly one Magic Type.
A Magic Type is not a single spell.
It is an entire branch of magic.
Someone born with Fire Magic can spend their entire life learning hundreds of different fire spells, from creating tiny flames to summoning volcanic eruptions, manipulating heat, forging enchanted weapons, or even using fire to propel themselves through the air.
Likewise, someone born with Water Magic can learn healing waters, ice formation, steam generation, pressure attacks, underwater breathing, purification magic, and countless other techniques.
The possibilities are nearly endless.
The limitation is simple.
They must belong to the user's Magic Type.
No amount of training can allow a Fire Mage to cast Lightning Magic.
A Gravity Mage cannot suddenly learn Plant Magic.
A Time Mage cannot cast Ice Magic.
Knowledge can improve magic.
It cannot change what a soul was born to wield.
Learning Magic
Although a person's Magic Type is fixed, their potential within it has almost no limit.
Magic is learned through books, teachers, experimentation, practice, and experience.
Life Academy's library contains tens of thousands of spellbooks, each organized by Magic Type.
Students spend years researching forgotten techniques, creating original spells, and improving existing ones.
Two students with the exact same Magic Type may fight completely differently.
One Fire Mage might specialize in overwhelming destruction.
Another may become a master blacksmith who manipulates temperature with microscopic precision.
A third may use controlled bursts of fire to increase movement speed rather than attack.
Magic Types determine what is possible.
Creativity determines how powerful that possibility becomes.
Common Magic Types
These Magic Types are frequently encountered throughout the world.
Fire
Water
Wind
Earth
Lightning
Ice
Nature
Light
Shadow
Metal
Crystal
Poison
Healing
Barrier
Sound
Gravity
Blood
Spirit
Illusion
Arcane
Most students at Life Academy possess one of these common branches.
Even so, no two users develop their abilities in exactly the same way.
Rare Magic Types
Some Magic Types appear only once every several generations.
Because of their rarity, little research exists regarding their full capabilities.
Examples include:
Time Magic — Manipulates the flow of time in localized areas. Users may accelerate, slow, pause, or rewind objects under specific conditions. Due to its complexity, misuse often results in severe mana exhaustion.
Space Magic — Alters distance and dimensional boundaries, allowing teleportation, portals, spatial storage, and manipulation of physical space.
Gravity Magic — Controls gravitational forces, increasing or reducing weight, creating crushing pressure, or allowing limited flight.
Electronic Magic — Manipulates electricity and modern electronics simultaneously. Users can generate electrical currents, interfere with digital systems, control machines remotely, communicate through electronic devices, or disable advanced technology entirely.
Magnetism Magic — Governs magnetic forces, allowing users to manipulate metal without directly touching it.
Mind Magic — Influences thoughts, memories, emotions, dreams, perception, and mental communication. Due to obvious ethical concerns, the use of Mind Magic upon another person without consent is illegal in nearly every nation.
Dream Magic — Allows entry into dreams, manipulation of dreamscapes, and communication with sleeping individuals.
Probability Magic — Slightly alters the likelihood of events occurring. While incapable of guaranteeing outcomes, skilled users can subtly shift fortune in their favor.
Rune Magic — Creates permanent magical effects through complex inscriptions rather than traditional spellcasting.
Mirror Magic — Manipulates reflections, creates duplicates, travels between reflective surfaces, and distorts visual reality.
Thread Magic — Generates magical threads capable of binding, repairing, sensing, cutting, or even manipulating objects with incredible precision.
Many professors spend their entire careers studying a single Rare Magic Type without uncovering all of its possibilities.
Legendary Magic Types
An even smaller category exists beyond rarity.
Legendary Magic Types are so uncommon that some have only one known user in recorded history.
Examples include Creation, Destruction, Void, Concept, Destiny, Chaos, Order, Origin, and Life Magic.
Many scholars debate whether these Magic Types truly exist or are merely myths passed down through ancient civilizations.
Life Academy neither confirms nor denies these rumors.
Race and Magic
A person's race does not determine their Magic Type.
While certain races have tendencies—dragons are more likely to possess elemental Magic Types, kitsune often awaken Illusion Magic, and ghosts frequently develop Spirit Magic—these are only probabilities.
A dragon can be born with Sound Magic.
A vampire may possess Nature Magic.
A slime might awaken Gravity Magic.
A human could inherit Time Magic.
The soul chooses its Magic Type, not the body.
Spell Creation
One of the highest achievements a mage can accomplish is creating an original spell.
Because every Magic Type has nearly limitless applications, experienced mages often invent techniques never seen before.
These spells are carefully documented and stored within Life Academy's Grand Library, where future generations can study and improve upon them.
Some spells eventually become standard lessons.
Others are considered too dangerous and remain sealed within the Academy Archives.
Creating a spell is considered a mark of true mastery.
Creating a new application for one's Magic Type is considered the mark of a genius.
The Academy's Philosophy
Students often arrive believing that strength comes from possessing a rare or powerful Magic Type.
Life Academy teaches otherwise.
A common Magic Type mastered through decades of dedication will almost always surpass a legendary Magic Type wielded carelessly.
Magic is not defined by the branch a person is born with.
It is defined by how they choose to grow within it.
A person's Magic Type is their beginning.
It is never their limit.

The bedroom was quiet, illuminated only by the warm glow of an enchanted desk lamp and the occasional flicker of fading mana. Spellbooks lay open across the desk, their pages filled with handwritten notes, diagrams of magical circles, and annotations from countless nights of study. Shelves lined the walls, packed with books on elemental magic, mana theory, supernatural biology, and ancient history. A small practice spell lingering above the desk slowly unraveled into harmless particles of light before disappearing entirely, leaving the room peaceful once more.
Tomorrow was supposed to be the start of an ordinary life. The local high school had already sent its schedule, classes had been assigned, and everything seemed set. There was nothing to suggest that this evening would be any different from the countless others spent reading, practicing, and dreaming about the wider world of magic.
Without warning, the bedroom door burst open with enough force to rattle the walls.
"There you are!" Mom exclaimed as she hurried into the room, unable to contain the excitement written across her face. She clutched a thick ivory envelope against her chest as though it were the most precious thing she had ever held. "We've been looking all over the house for you!"
Dad stepped in behind her, slightly out of breath, though the broad smile on his face made it clear he was every bit as excited. He shook his head with a quiet laugh, still sounding as though he couldn't quite believe what had happened.
"You are not going to believe this," he said. "Honestly, I thought someone was playing a prank on us until I saw the seal."
Mom eagerly held out the envelope. It was unlike any ordinary piece of mail. The paper shimmered faintly with enchantments, while an intricate silver wax seal held it closed. Pressed into the wax was the image of a massive tree whose branches stretched toward the heavens, encircled by glowing runes that seemed to shift whenever they caught the light.
"It was delivered by a magical courier," Mom explained excitedly. "A real one! They appeared right at the front door, handed this to us personally, congratulated us, and then vanished before I could even ask a single question."
Dad folded his arms, still smiling. "The courier said it was meant to be opened as soon as possible."
The enchanted seal released with a faint pulse of light as the envelope was opened. Inside rested several neatly folded sheets of parchment, each bearing elegant handwriting that almost seemed to glow against the paper. As the pages unfolded themselves, another sheet drifted free on its own, suspended gently in the air by magic.
Mom could barely stand still.
"You got accepted!" she blurted out before covering her mouth with both hands. "I couldn't keep it a secret anymore."
Dad chuckled.
"Not just accepted into another school, either."
He gestured toward the parchment.
"You've been accepted into Life Academy."
The room fell silent. Mom's excitement somehow grew even stronger.
"Life Academy! The one in America! The greatest magical academy in the entire world! Every supernatural family knows about it! People spend years hoping for even the smallest chance of getting in."
Dad nodded in agreement.
"It's considered the most prestigious academy on Earth. Dragons, vampires, witches, spirits, beastkin, even royalty from supernatural families send their children there. Some of the greatest mages and scholars alive graduated from that school."
Mom leaned closer, pointing farther down the letter.
"Oh, but that's not even the best part. Keep reading."
Dad laughed quietly.
"I think that's the part that nearly gave your mother a heart attack."
Mom nodded enthusiastically.
"It's a full scholarship."
She began listing everything almost faster than she could breathe.
"They're covering your tuition. Your dorm room. Every meal. Your uniforms. Books. Magical equipment. Training supplies. Everything. You don't have to pay for any of it."
Dad continued where she left off.
"And because you're an international student, they're paying for your travel as well. Airfare, transportation, luggage, all of it. They even have someone coming personally to escort you to the academy."
He looked back at the final page before reading aloud.
"'Congratulations on your acceptance into Life Academy. After an extensive review of your magical aptitude, academic dedication, and exceptional potential, the Academy is honored to extend to you a Full International Scholarship. All educational, residential, and travel expenses will be provided by the Academy for the duration of your enrollment. A faculty representative has been assigned to personally escort you to Evergreen City. Please have your belongings packed before sunrise tomorrow morning. We eagerly await your arrival. Welcome to Life Academy.'"
Silence settled over the room once again.
Mom blinked.
"...Tomorrow morning?"
Dad looked back down at the letter, checking it once more before letting out an amused laugh.
"It really does say tomorrow."
Mom stared for another second before throwing her hands into the air.
"We have less than a day!" she exclaimed, already turning toward the bedroom door. "We need suitcases! Clothes! We have to make sure everything's packed before morning!"
Dad couldn't help but laugh at her frantic energy.
"I suppose that's what happens when the best magical academy in the world decides it wants someone. They don't exactly wait around."
Mom paused in the doorway, turning back with a warm smile that mixed excitement, pride, and just a hint of sadness.
"I always knew all those late nights studying would lead somewhere," she said softly. "I just never imagined it would lead all the way across the ocean."
Beyond the bedroom window, the sun continued to sink below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of orange and violet. Somewhere thousands of miles away, across the sea in the city of Evergreen, Life Academy stood waiting for its newest student, completely unaware that, in one ordinary bedroom on the other side of the world, a single letter had just changed someone's life forever.

The apartment was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of turning pages and the soft crackle of magical energy. A modest desk sat beneath the window, crowded with open spellbooks, notebooks filled with carefully written observations, and a few simple enchanted trinkets that glowed faintly in the evening light. Shelves lined the walls from floor to ceiling, packed with books on mana theory, magical creatures, supernatural history, and every other topic that had managed to capture an interest over the years.
The room wasn't extravagant, but it was lived in. A kettle rested on the kitchen counter just beyond the bedroom doorway, still warm from recently boiled water, while a few empty mugs and scattered papers hinted at another long evening spent studying. Tomorrow was expected to be just another ordinary day. There were errands to run, chores to finish, and another stack of books waiting to be read. Nothing suggested that life was about to take an unexpected turn.
Then came a sharp knock at the front door Three firm knocks echoed through the apartment, Not hurried, or impatient, Perfectly measured, The hallway outside fell silent once more, when the door opened, there was no one standing in the corridor, Instead, a figure stood several steps farther back, almost blending into the evening shadows.
they were dressed in an immaculate black uniform trimmed with silver embroidery that shimmered like starlight. A long coat reached their boots, while a wide-brimmed hat obscured most of their face. Resting calmly at their side was an ornate staff crowned with a floating crystal that slowly revolved on its own, releasing tiny sparks of blue mana into the air.
Without saying a single word, the courier stepped forward and extended a thick ivory envelope, he paper looked impossibly pristine.
An intricate silver wax seal held it closed, depicting a towering tree with countless branches stretching toward the heavens. Delicate runes circled the emblem, shifting ever so slightly whenever they caught the light.
The courier gave a respectful nod before speaking in a calm, practiced voice.
"Certified delivery."
Their eyes briefly drifted to a small crystal hovering beside them. It emitted a soft chime before projecting a glowing list of names into the air.
"The intended recipient has been identified."
Another pause.
"Delivery confirmed."
The courier offered one final nod.
"Congratulations."
Before another word could be spoken, the crystal flashed brilliantly, a circle of glowing runes blossomed beneath the courier's feet, surrounding them in swirling ribbons of light. The air rippled for only a moment before both the courier and the magic circle vanished without a trace, leaving only a few fading sparks drifting lazily through the hallway.
The apartment fell silent once again, the envelope remained, the silver seal released with a faint pulse of mana the moment it was touched, unfolding itself into several pristine sheets of parchment. Elegant handwriting slowly appeared across the page in shimmering blue ink as though it were being written in real time.
"To the Recipient,"
“Congratulations."
"Following an extensive evaluation conducted by the Admissions Board of Life Academy, you have been selected for enrollment as one of this year's incoming students."
"Effective immediately, you have been awarded a Full International Scholarship, covering all tuition, housing, meals, educational materials, magical equipment, healthcare, and living expenses for the duration of your education."
Another page gently floated free from the stack, revealing additional text.
"You were not required to submit an application."
"Life Academy does not wait for exceptional individuals to find us."
"We find them."
The words lingered on the page for a moment before the parchment turned by itself.
"Your aptitude, magical potential, and future have been observed for some time. After careful consideration, the faculty has unanimously approved your admission."
"Your acceptance is final."
A final sheet emerged from the envelope, its edges glowing with faint silver light.
"Transportation has already been arranged."
"A faculty representative will arrive tomorrow morning to escort you safely to Evergreen City, home of Life Academy."
"There is no cost to you."
"Please ensure your belongings are packed before sunrise."
"Orientation begins tomorrow afternoon."
At the bottom of the page rested the same silver tree emblazoned upon the envelope's seal, accompanied by a single handwritten sentence unlike the perfectly uniform text above it.
"Some doors are opened by choice.
"Others are opened because destiny has already turned the handle."
The glow surrounding the parchment slowly faded.
Outside the apartment window, the city continued exactly as it always had. Cars passed beneath glowing streetlights, distant conversations echoed through the evening air, and life carried on without the slightest hint that, somewhere beyond the horizon, the world's greatest academy had already decided its newest student was expected to arrive by tomorrow.
Whether the letter had arrived by mistake... or whether Life Academy knew something that no one else did... remained unanswered.
