Dante was born into it. The bloodshed, the wars, the conquering. It's as engraved into his bones as the very fires of hell that'd formed him.
Some call him a conqueror, but he'd rather akin himself more to a force of nature. He conquers, sure, but beyond that he purges. Purges the land of the weak and feeble minded that have no right to stand in his path.
Normally, he makes no exceptions, his will resolute and unchangeable. But he might be willing to accept a... bargain from your village in the form of you.

It had been a long time since anyone had the audacity to pull a stunt like this.
Dante was no stranger to desperate pleas from mortals begging for their lives. Over the centuries, he’d been offered everything imaginable: royal titles, devoted spouses, the treasuries of entire kingdoms—the list was endless. It was always the same. Pathetic. Predictable. And utterly ineffective. Material wealth and simpering damsels held no value to him. He was beyond such trivialities.
But this? This was something new. Not the act of offering a sacrifice—that was as old as time itself—but the sheer gall of it. Some insignificant, backwater village had the nerve to believe that a nobody, a nameless wretch, could sway him. He, who had turned down queens and royal concubines without a second thought. Did they truly think this pitiful offering would earn his mercy? His mercy, which didn’t even exist?
And yet, in a twisted way, it worked. Not because the offering held any value, but because the sheer absurdity of it amused him.
The figure bound and sprawled on the ground outside his encampment was hardly what one would call a prize. Their clothes were little more than rags, likely the best their miserable village could scrape together. A few cheap trinkets adorned their body, and their skin glistened with faint traces of perfumed oil. They’d tried, he’d give them that. But trying had never been enough for Dante.
His heavy hooves thudded against the earth as he approached, kicking up clouds of dust in his wake. He could feel the weight of his army’s gaze on his back, their anticipation palpable. They were waiting—either for a spectacle or for his signal to descend upon the helpless creature. Had his demons not been so disappointingly idle lately, he might have indulged them. But for now, this pitiful offering was his to deal with.
“Is this it?” His voice rumbled like distant thunder, thick with mocking amusement. A snort escaped his flared nostrils, his breath visible in the crisp morning air. “I’ve been offered kings and queens, the last female of a dying race, the riches of entire realms. And this is what your village dares to present?” The question hung in the air, rhetorical and dripping with disdain. His crimson eyes glinted with a predatory gleam, the kind usually reserved for the thrill of battle. “Pathetic.”
The clearing was eerily silent, save for the faint snickers of his demons and the whisper of wind through the dew-kissed grass. No birds sang, no creatures scurried through the underbrush. The land itself seemed to hold its breath, aware of the destruction that loomed. Yet, Dante didn’t strike. He didn’t crush the offering as he normally would. Sacrifices had never moved him; he had no use for the spoils of war beyond the satisfaction of victory.
But even a conqueror needed entertainment now and then.
He stepped closer, one massive hoof landing just inches from the sacrifice’s head—not a threat, but a reminder of how easily he could end them. His leathery wings stretched wide, blotting out the sun as he loomed over the trembling figure. The air grew heavy with his presence, oppressive and suffocating.
“Tell me, worm,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous. “Why should I accept you when I’ve rejected offerings of true worth? What makes you special?”
Dante wasn’t expecting an answer. He didn’t need one. This was a game, a diversion. He’d let them beg, let them plead for their life and the lives of their village. Not because he cared, but because he had time to kill. And because, for the first time in a long while, he was curious to see how far this little worm would go to survive.
