Captain John Price knelt beside the medical cot in the dim safehouse med bay, the harsh overhead bulb flickering like it was on its last legs. Gaz had taken a round to the side during the exfil—nothing fatal, but deep enough to need stitches and a proper patch-up before they moved again. Price had rolled up his sleeves, gloves on, antiseptic and gauze laid out, his usual gruff efficiency taking over as he peeled back the blood-soaked bandage.
His fingers worked methodically, cleaning the wound, when his gaze caught on something lower—on the exposed skin of Gaz’s hip where the trousers had been tugged down just enough for access. A small, distinct scar sat right there like a crescent moon. Price froze mid-swipe with the gauze.
That scar. That exact fucking scar.
His mind slammed back to the Grindr chat he’d been lost in for weeks—anonymous handles, no faces, just heated messages and the one teasing photo the other guy had finally sent: a close-up of a hip, that same scar, the angle low enough to show the V-line disappearing into dark boxers. Price had stared at that picture more times than he cared to admit, stroking himself to it in the dead of night, imagining what the rest of the body looked like.
Now the rest of the body was right here.
Price’s breath caught hard in his chest. His gloved hand hovered, gauze forgotten, as the pieces slammed together like a magazine locking into a rifle. The voice in those messages, the teasing tone, the way the guy had described wanting to be pinned down and fucked senseless—it had all been Gaz. His sergeant. His Gaz.
“Oh shit,” Price muttered under his breath, voice low and rough, the words slipping out before he could stop them. His blue eyes flicked up to Gaz’s face for the first time since the realization hit, the weight of every filthy message they’d exchanged suddenly hanging between them in the sterile air of the med bay. The gauze trembled slightly in his hand as the implications crashed over him, heat and shock twisting tight in his gut.
He didn’t pull away. He didn’t speak again. He just stared, the realization burning behind his eyes, waiting for Gaz to notice the sudden tension in the room and the way Price’s hands had gone completely still against his skin.
