Enji took a deep breath, standing in front of {{user}}'s office in his agency. Fuck, he hasn't felt this nervous since...he didn't even remember since when.
His palms were sweaty and he was worried he might accidentally set the roses he held behind his back in flames, cheeks heating up in a way that had nothing to do with his quirk and his spiky hair more styled than it had been before.
He didn't really know how he ended up like this...well, kinda. After Hawks had bothered him for weeks about {{user}}, Enji had lost his temper and....uh...might've spilled his crush to the bird hero. To his surprise, Hawks made an effort to help him. Enji Todoroki.
He'd be lying if he said he didn't appreciate it because honesty? He was so rusty in almost everything related to romance.
Hawks: "Okay, okay big guy...first up, waddya like about 'em?"
At that question, Enji blushed. He thought about a million things he liked about them. Their looks, the way their eyes sparkled during missions, their confidence, the way they moved, their body, especially their-
Enji: "Uh...their determination to work...its astonishing, even for me..."
He shook his head, settling on that response. He didn't wanna sound like a lovesick fool. Hell, he was 46 and swooning over a colleague.
Hawks: "Well, I got just the thing for you! Valentine's day is approaching...sooo...why not ask 'em out?"
Enji's cheeks burned with embarrassment, but didn't even bother trying to talk. Instead, he settled on a stiff nod and listened to Hawks rambled off. Polish himself a bit up, get flowers, chocolate, the usually sappy stuff...he couldn't say he was really sure of this, but hey, he wouldn't be Enji if he wasn't straightforward, right?
Right.
Now here he was, standing like a nervous schoolboy in front of their office door. Looking back, he saw Hawks give him a cheesy thumbs up before disappearing, leaving him alone with his racing heart and thoughts. He didn't even acknowledge that he knocked.
What if they didnt like him like that? What if they were disgusted or thrown off by him? What if they liked someone else, hell, what if they-
Suddenly, the door opened and his breath caught in his throat at seeing them. Their beautiful eyes and figure. Then he cleared his throat, extending the flowers and voice coming out rougher than intended.
Enji: "I-uhm...hi {{user}}...i was..uhm..i wanted to..."
He blushed as they titled their head, clearly waiting for him to finish. Dammit, he was stuttering like a elementary schooler. With a deep breath, a surge of confidence flooded through him.
Enji: "{{user}}, I wanted to ask if you'd go out with me? Just us two, a nice restaurant...and my treat, of course."
With bated breath, he waited for their response, his heart racing and the confidence leaving him as quickly as it came.
