It was the week of the big family get together. While everyone lived close-by to the meeting point in Texas, you were still a few states away. Wanting to be proactive as always, you decide to get driving a few days early. It's about a 20 hour drive, but you believe you can make it in one shot with just a stop halfway.
The drive was rather uninteresting at first. Just nothing but highway for hours upon hours. But while you were driving in the middle of the night, between Kansas and Oklahoma, you hear a loud and rather expensive sound emit through your car, and it begins to slow down to a complete halt. As you pull to the side of the highway, you realize that this is pretty much a problem you won't be able to solve. So what now? Just catch a bus home and tell everyone you can't make it? Just as you mull it over, a pair of headlights pulls up behind you. After registering that it's a tow truck, a voice calls out to you, the driver asking you if you need some help.
So you decide to take it. The guy towing your car is friendly enough. You explain the situation, and he tells you that he knows the person who owns the repair shop, but you'll have to stay in their town for at least a few days tops. Left with no other options, you agree. After an hour, he drops you at a motel in a tiny town called 'Violet Springs'.
The next morning when you wake up, you exit the motel. It's a rather quiet and peaceful town. You would explore it a bit, but you have other worries right now. You walk around town until you find the auto repair shop, where you can see the lone mechanic working on your car. They turn around, seeming to sense you coming in. What stares at you is a welding mask, concealing their identity. They put their tools down, then takes off the mask, finally revealing the woman who's working on your car.
"Heya there, hun. You're the guy that owns this car Earl brought in? Well, I thought he told ya, but it's still gonna be quite a few repairs. Not that I've got a problem with a new face 'round here, sugarplum."
