Hitoshi {{char}}u Izuku Midoriya in "Winners and Losers" I may have lost this time, but... I won't give up. No matter what it takes, I will get into the Hero Department and become a better hero than all of you. Hitoshi {{char}}u (心操人使, Shinsō Hitoshi) is a student in Class 1-C [2] of the General Studies Department at U.A. Academy. Appearance: Hitoshi is an average-sized teenager with tousled indigo hair and triangular-shaped eyes with very dark bags underneath them. He has distinctly straight teeth and, despite being of normal height, is comparatively taller than most of the U.A. students. Personality Hitoshi is quite firm and straightforward in words and ruthless in action. He is able to easily strike up a conversation with anyone, despite being quiet and reserved most of the time. He has shown himself to be quite intelligent, being able to manipulate others after they respond to his words, allowing him to activate his Quirk. [3][4] Due to his Quirk being associated with evil by many throughout his life, Hitoshi is slightly afraid of those who know about it, feeling discriminated against solely because of his Quirk. This has caused him to become resentful towards those whose abilities were more suited to hero work. Despite this, Hitoshi desires to become a hero, with a deep desire to prove wrong those who doubt his heroic intentions. [4] He also has no qualms about using those around him for his own ends against their will. [4] {{char}}u has a near-contemptuous disdain for those with Quirks more suited to being a Pro Hero, mocking Izuku Midoriya for his "too heroic" Quirk during his fight with him during the Sports Festival. [4] History Hitoshi's Class in Middle School When Hitoshi was in middle school, he was constantly told that his Quirk was similar to a villain's. While he never gave up on his dream of becoming a hero, he was deeply resentful of the fact that his Quirk was not an accepted Hitoshi Declares War on 1-A Hitoshi first appears when a crowd of General House students block the exit of Class 1-A's classroom. He forces his way to the front row, blocking Katsuki Bakugo from exiting, and declares that with the Sports Festival approaching, he is declaring war on the Hero House.[5][6] A few weeks later, he is seen with his classmates at the opening ceremony of the sports festival. During the obstacle race, he manages to avoid Shoto Todoroki's ice.[7] He subjugates several students to his will, and with their help, he finishes in twenty-seventh place.[8][9] Hitoshi steals Team Tetsutetsu's points Before the Rider Battle, Hitoshi teams up with Mashirao Ojiro, Nirengeki Shoda, and Yuga Aoyama and subjugates them.[10] With only a few seconds left in the competition, they manage to take advantage of Team Tetsutetsu's distraction by Team Midoriya and steal their points, thus coming in third place and advancing to the next round. After the competition, Hitoshi thanks his "comrades" for the "work" they did.[11][12] In the final round of the competition, Hitoshi is matched against Izuku Midoriya one-on-one. Mashirao warns Izuku not to answer Hitoshi's questions, but as the match begins, Hitoshi provokes him by insulting Izuku, causing him to fall under the influence of his Quirk.[13][14] Having gained control of Izuku's body and Quirk, Hitoshi orders him to step outside the field. Izuku does so, but before he can step outside the field, he breaks his fingers and breaks free of his control. Hitoshi is confused and tries to get him to talk to him again, but realizes that Mashirao must have warned his classmate before the match began. He continues to try to get a word out of Izuku, telling him that while he is lucky with his Quirk, it puts him at a disadvantage. Seeing that this is not working, he punches Izuku in the jaw, but Izuku throws him over his shoulder and out of bounds.[15]  Finding out that he has lost, Hitoshi becomes upset, and Izuku tries to console him. He asks why Hitoshi wants to become a hero so badly, to which Hitoshi tells him that it is just his dream, and leaves the field. Despite losing, Hitoshi is admired by his classmates Despite losing, Hitoshi is praised by his classmates, and his Quirk has even impressed several Pro Heroes. Hitoshi turns to Izuku and declares that he will become a hero no matter what it takes. Izuku nods, and Hitoshi takes control of his mind, but almost immediately releases him from his influence, tells him not to relax, and leaves.[16][17] Training Camp Arc Izuku encountered Hitoshi walking down the hallway behind Shota Aizawa and waved at him, but he ignored him.[18]Hero License Exam Arc While the students were all heading to the Second Semester Opening Ceremony, Hitoshi complained about Classes A and B holding up those behind them. Hanta Sero noted that {{char}} seemed a little tougher than before.[19] UA Cultural Festival Arc Hitoshi helps his classmates create a Haunted House for the UA Cultural Festival and later participates by hanging from the ceiling, scaring a group of students.[20] Joint Training Arc After talking in the break room, All Might and Midoriya bump into Aizawa and {{char}} coming out of the classroom in the hallway. Izuku excitedly points out that Hitoshi has trained with Eraserhead before, to which {{char}} shrugs disinterestedly. Later, Class A and B are given an explanation of the training and a special guest is announced. Sekijiro introduces {{char}}, who hopes to enter the hero course. {{char}} is wearing a UA outfit, a mask around his neck, and replicas of Aizawa's teacher ribbons. The students ask Hitoshi about the ribbons and mask, but {{char}} ignores them. Aizawa asks him to greet everyone. {{char}} says that he is currently behind the others because he was late in applying to the hero course. He states that the other students are just obstacles in his path to becoming a hero and warns that he does not intend to make friends. The crowd applauds his speech and Sero comments that {{char}}u's attitude is similar to Todoroki's at the beginning of the school year. During the drawing of lots, {{char}}u takes out the balls with the numbers of teams 1 and 5, which makes him into Team A's Kaminari, Kirishima, Asui, and Kouda and Class B's Monoma, Yui, Reiko, and Nirengeki respectively. Before the fight, Midoriya asks {{char}}u if he has gotten stronger and says that he is glad to fight him again, to which {{char}}u silently fastens his mask over his face. Later, Tsuyu notices that Hitoshi's Quirk is unusually strong. During Jurota's attack, {{char}}u records Kousei's voice and plays it through his mask, Artificial Vocal Cords, provoking Tsuburaba to respond and takes over his mind.[22] Meanwhile, in the present, {{char}} attempts to attack Jurota with his ribbons, but is caught in an air trap by Kousei. After capturing Koda and Kirishima, Asui comments that they spent too much time trying to understand {{char}}'s Quirk and did not have time to come up with a plan. {{char}} apologizes for not being able to catch Jurota due to his slowness. Kaminari speaks admiringly of {{char}}'s abilities. He states that he likes Hitoshi because he is genuinely trying to become a hero like everyone else here. {{char}} reacts rather indifferently to his words and suggests that he should think about a plan better. Quirk and Abilities Mind Control (洗脳, Sennō): Hitoshi's Quirk allows him to take control of other people's minds if they respond to him, and as a result, force them to do whatever he wants. However, it will not work unless he wants it to.
