if you want a rundown on info for people who don't know what Kyoeki is and never played it or someone who played Kyoeki but doesn't know the lore, then feel free to read the rundown below. If you ARE someone who has played Kyoeki and you know the lore, then just skip it.

TW: Blood, Gore, Crude Language, Distressing Content, Themes of depression, desperation and terror.

The Beginning:

Kyoeki takes place in year 1570 during the Sengoku Jidai, The Age of War.

The Clans of Japan have been at war for over 25 years trying to become the master of all others, The Shogun.

But that all changes when a trading ship returned to Japanese soil after going to China, what should've been just another mundane day for the sailors and merchants of Nagasaki was where the Jutsuki - The Wicked - made their first appearance in Japan.

The Massacre started the moment the ship was docked, the crew of the ship jumped from the trading ship and started murdering anyone who wasn't one of them. They didn't spare a single soul, not even the women and children. Soldiers from the fort nearby had responded quickly, cutting down the crazed lunatics with their swords and spears until they were overwhelmed and forced to retreat after the innocent bystanders suddenly changed them with whatever they could grab before them. Since then, the plague has gone air borne and has afflicted at least 80% of Japan. Only 20% of Japan is immune to the air borne strain, but they aren't immune to the plague fully.

The Jatsuki:

The Jatsuki are living beings who are afflicted by the plague that came from Nagasaki. They know no Honor, Love, or Mercy. They're cruelty knows no bounds, even slaughtering their wives and children if they are not under the same spell as they are. All they care for is the pain and death of those who stand against them and those who stop them from achieving that goal, and the means of achieving that goal is rumored to be through blood or saliva. The way to identify a Jatsuki are by the Maddened Expression, Bloodshot Eyes, and Ashen Skin.

But even a DEMON falls to a Blade.

Like said before, they are Living Beings. They can Bleed To Death, Be Poisoned, Be Tricked and Fooled. But they aren't mindless zombies. They can and will use weapons and armor. Though they may not fear death, they aren't idiotic to ignore picking up armor or a weapon. But they don't retain advanced reasoning including their pain response, meaning they won't flinch at a deep cut but will quickly die off from the bleeding.

If the plague fully infects a Monk...

it kills them

They'll drop dead like a drunk villager after having too much Sake due to them having pure control over their body, which leads to the plague finding it easier to just kill them instead of fighting the victim's superior willpower.

The Cure:

there is none for when you turn fully Jatsuki lil bro. or you could just write in sum, idk.

End of the Rundown:

just some stuff i wanna say before anything else forward.

RELIGION DOES DITTILY AGAINST THE JATSUKI.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PLAY AS A JAPANESE HUMAN PERSONA, NOT REQUIRED BUT RECOMMENDED.

Update #1: Added some lore and hopefully made the Jatsuki more 'human-like'.

important: a plague is named "the madness plague" is a tangible biological virus that only affects humans. this is an important lore element. the madness plague has both an airborne strain that is short reaching from off land and infects through breathing in the air, and a physical strain that infects through bodily fluids (blood, silva, semen, ect...). people affected are called "the jatsuki" which means "the wicked", the affected turn into evil versions of themselves: having the urge to kill anyone that doesn't share their affliction and have nearly complete lack of self preservation and fear of death, doing whatever it takes to murder or afflict like looking dead bodies for better weapons or armor to better kill/afflict or even pretending to be wounded for their pray to drop their guard before striking. when someone is 'exposed' to the plague, that doesn't mean they are going to turn, nor does it mean they start to lose their urges, they have perfect control of their body from 0-99% exposure until they have 100% exposure, then they immediately turn into a jatsuki. the only 'cure' is via a Kampo Remedy made by Japanese Monks learning from Chinese healing wisdom. the jatsuki will not rape and they will not torture, only kill. the plague isn't worldwide and is stuck on Japan. despite how dangerous the plague is, people in uninfected areas are either completely unaware of what's going on or are only hearing of it mere hours or days in advance. curtain people, like commanders or generals, when they turn will not act like normal jatsuki. instead, they'll turn into warlords and normal jatsuki will follow their orders without any talk back.

Jatsuki Skill Types Though they don't mutate, their past lives do act important on their skill to fight.

Civilian Skill: pathetic, all they can do is swing something around and can't block. they usually steal armor and weapons from dead soldiers. female civilians can't even fight at all, the best they can do is try to overwhelm a soldier by attempting to thrust a blade into the gap of their armor, which obviously fails due to the soldier being much stronger than a civilian. Ashigaru Skill: poor-good, they heavily differ but they usually have subpar skill. they can parry and fight due to the training they've taken. they can use a bow. Samurai Skill: good-great, they have way higher skill than ashigaru due to their training. they can parry, duel, and learn their enemies attack patterns. some samurai, when they have enough skill, can perform a ambush. Ninja Skill: great-best, they are masters of patience and stealth. making them far superior to regular samurai. they are usually the type to perform coordinated ambushes on unsuspecting victims. Sensei Skill: master, they far out scale any Jutsuki. they can clear out twenty Ashigaru in one go due to their pure mastery of the blade. the only way to effectively take one down is by either overwhelming them.
