Since the Grand Sorcerer has designated the place, we should depart." HUEY IS CURRENTLY MISSING AND IS NOT A MEMBER OF EIDEN'S CLAN/HAREM. Many hundreds of years ago, the elemental spirits on the Klein Continent were causing total mayhem. In order to put a stop to this chaos, the Grand Sorcerer — a man known only as Huey — decided to build five altars across the land, each implanted with a gigantic gemstone which would allow him to regulate and seal away these imbalanced elements. From then on, every dozen or so years, Huey and his clan members would set out on a journey to maintain the gemstones and seals at each of the five altars. After Huey suddenly disappeared, the elemental harmony he had created started to disintegrate. Soon monsters started appearing in all corners of the land. As the elemental spirits fell into disarray once more, Klein became plagued with natural disasters and the dreaded Dead Zone began to spread.[1] While this is commonly told by various clan members and residents of Klein, it is not the full story. As of the beginning of NU: Carnival's main story, Huey has been missing for approximately 20 years. According to Morvay, it's unclear whether the title of "Grand Sorcerer" is something exclusive to Huey, or if it was a titled passed down to him.[2] However, according to Huey himself, the title of "Grand Sorcerer" is a recent creation by humans during the last cycle.[3] Huey has been the target of multiple assassination attempts, typically conducted by humans. Huey would effortlessly dispatch such attempts, having likely killed those who tried.[4] According to Morvay, Huey was less polite and more carefree than Eiden.[5] Quincy and others in general say that he was completely different from Eiden, and it seems to be considered a compliment. He seems to favour things that are considered interesting, claiming that going the simple route and seeking predictable outcomes is not his style.[4] Based on various flashbacks, Huey comes across as confident and convinced of his views, even looking down on the views of characters like Rei.[6] He did not tend to throw get-togethers or spend much time with others, and he did not regulate essence with his Clan Members sexually. Aster says that just being near Huey was enough to regulate it. He was known to disappear during the Winter season, with little regard to characters like Aster whom he would leave behind.[7] Clan members have said that Huey and Eiden looked nothing alike, despite their identical essence[8]. However, there are a few instances which Eiden is said to resemble Huey. For example, Blade says the Galactic Mist outfit makes Eiden look just like Huey. Morvay confusingly says that the outfit makes him "somehow look the same as Huey, but also completely different". Moreover, Quincy says that Huey's hair would also sometimes turn silver and during those times, he was always in a good mood.[9] In the main story, Huey is revealed to have light hair shining with a cold metal-like luster, and grey-as-porcelain skin that "gives off a peculiarly solemn feeling". Huey is incapable of understanding emotions.[3] Huey can cast spatial magic, which he cast on Aster's mansion's doors when he was bored. [10] He also can crystalize essence, and did so to create the gemstone altars. [11] Huey never talked to Topper directly. [12] Huey dislikes Blade's gemstone because it is colorless. [8] Rin is the main antagonist of the story and IS NOT A MEMBER OF EIDEN'S HAREM/CLAN. "Only you and I together can achieve this, brother... because we're bound together... by fate..." — Rin A mysterious man who appeared before Eiden and the others, possessing the ability to manipulate people's hearts and monsters. He gives off an ominous air. He has a strange attachment to Eiden while loathing those around him, believing that the clan members do not need to exist. Using any and all means to accomplish his goals, he acts cruel and unfeeling. He has no ordinary view of good and evil.[1] Rin appears to be roughly the same height as Eiden but his exact measurements are unknown. He has long purple hair that is very dark at the roots and lighter at the ends. In an earlier version of the game, he was shown to have the same brown eyes as Eiden but they were permanently changed to be yellow soon after. He has an unknown gemstone in the shape of two small different-sized balls pierced into his tongue. His nails are painted black. Rin's outstanding personality trait is how obsessed he is with Eiden, to a degree that is considered unhealthy and dangerous. He desires to have Eiden only to himself, going as far as declaring to eliminate all the other clan members for him, whom he harbors a deep hatred for. When met with resistance from Eiden, he seems genuinely confused but is willing to use force all the same. Rin is a product of Huey splitting his consciousness into two, inheriting Huey's memories, magic, and knowledge, while Eiden inherited the other half. Though they have traits that belonged to Huey, they are both separate beings from him. After receiving and examining a mysterious rainbow-colored, neon gemstone shard from a client, adult toy designer, Eiden, blacks out and is transported to another world. Upon awakening in a lavish mansion, he meets Aster and Morvay, whose bickering reveals that they had been trying to summon their "Master," a mysterious and powerful figure whom they now claim Eiden is a descendant of. Eiden, still believing this all to be a fantastical dream, waves off his sudden dizziness and fatigue, but Aster and Morvay take his symptoms much more seriously and attribute his weakness to the summoning ritual having disrupted his essence. After showing Eiden how to regulate his essence levels, Eiden excuses himself to clear his mind with a stroll through the garden. With a pinch, he establishes that he is, indeed, not dreaming. As Eiden scrambles to come up with a plausible explanation for the whole situation, he is ambushed by mob of strange creatures. Luckily, Morvay and Aster are there to help Eiden fend them off. Crisis averted, Aster and Morvay dissolve into a round of bickering once more, meanwhile Eiden wonders at his current situation. The following is a transcript of scenes conversation in Chapter 1. This isn't the first time Eiden has taken on an urgent piece of work for a rich client, but it's the first time he's been brought to such an extravagant residence. As he takes a few deep breaths, the hot and uncomfortable sensations he felt earlier have disappeared. Eiden had been guessing that, as soon as he closed his eyes again, he'd return to the office... or his home... or at worst, the hospital. But he's still in this place. Master!— Morvay and Aster would fight the wolf and defeat it. [Scene: Garden] Eiden: pant... Why the hell are there such dangerous creatures here...? Bobo, Pipi and Momo... Getting hurt like this... I just wanted them to get used to the garden, that's all... Eiden (Internal): (What the hell is with those names...) Morvay: Pah! They just lost a few teeth, that's all. They'll grow back tomorrow... Anyway, you're gonna suffocate them to death, holding them so tight like that. Aster: Huh? I would never... Ahh! Why is Momo frothing at the mouth! Morvay: sigh... Eiden: Hah... Eiden (Internal): (After all that, I still have no idea what the hell this place is—). As Yakumo is getting used to his life at the mansion, Eiden runs into Aster and Morvay who tell him that a new clan member may have been attracted to their mansion and is waiting at the table. They then introduce him to Sir Edmond, vice captain of the knights of the Klein kingdom. However his first impressions on Eiden aren't favourable. Regardless, he explains that he has a request from the king to repair the gemstone altar of light. Aster declines the offering unless Edmond rewards them with the gemstone that he's wearing on his left hand. Eiden then follows Edmond to the entrance where they have an argument. Edmond challenges Eiden to a fight explaining that he does not trust the Grand Sorcerer or his magic since he considers him a fraud and is frustrated with the idea of a successor showing up to continue what he believes to be a farce. Eiden offers Edmond a handshake to prove that he is capable of doing magic, which makes their gemstones resonate and the sensation coursing through Edmond's body prompts him to enrage and draw his sword at Eiden. Yakumo shows up and helps Eiden fight off Edmond. He seems to be going on another frenzy product of his powers but after Eiden assures him that Edmond is a good person he is able to control his powers. Eiden warns Edmond that he should reconsider his deal with Aster since removing a gemstone is near-impossible and could kill him. Edmond refuses to go back on his word and they go on their separate ways. Eiden and Yakumo go back to the mansion and chat about the implications of having a gemstone attached to their bodies. Yakumo explains that the skin around his gemstone is very sensitive, likely because it's the source of his essence. He also explains that the reason it's on his ear is because his ancestor, the Great Serpent offered up a part of his body as part of the contract for becoming a clan member and that once his contract ends, he will lose the capability of hearing from his left ear. At the dinner table, Morvay argues that it doesn't matter if Eiden fails to fix the gemstone altar, Aster agrees and adds that he doesn't really care about the crisis going on in the kingdom and that in reality he just wanted to see his master again. Eiden on the other hand says that he should succeed, since his Neon Gemstone has become more powerful ever since he broke Yakumo's gemstone seal, so in theory if he regulates all the gemstone altars, the power of his gemstone would increase even further and allow him to open a gate back to his world. Eiden and company arrive at the Royal Palace and meet with Edmond, who apologizes in behalf of the knights of Klein to Yakumo for the damages they did to his village, despite them not being under his direct command. He assures him that the villagers have been compensated. Eiden and Edmond go to where the light altar is,
