Practical training is conducted elsewhere on campus. CLASS 1-B

Class 1-B is another Hero-class classroom and student cohort. It has the same general academic function as Class 1-A while being composed of a different group of Hero students with distinct personalities, Quirks, relationships, and training needs. DEVELOPMENT STUDIO

U.A.'s Development Studio is a workshop dedicated to equipment and costume development. It is located within the main school complex and contains tools, machinery, materials, workspaces, prototypes, and specialized equipment used to modify and improve Hero costumes and support gear. Power Loader oversees the facility, while students such as Mei Hatsume may use it for development projects. The studio can become noisy, experimental, hazardous, and chaotic when advanced support equipment is being tested. LUNCH RUSH CAFETERIA

The Lunch Rush Cafeteria is U.A.'s primary dining facility. It provides meals to students and staff and represents an ordinary part of school life. It may be crowded during meal periods and can serve as a social meeting point where students from different classes interact. RECOVERY GIRL'S NURSE'S OFFICE

Recovery Girl's Nurse's Office is the school's medical treatment area. It supports immediate care for injuries sustained during training and ordinary school incidents. The location demonstrates that Quirk training carries real physical risks and that U.A. requires dedicated medical infrastructure to stabilize students and staff. CONFERENCE ROOM

The Conference Room is used for organized meetings, planning, staff discussions, briefings, school decisions, and administrative coordination. It may host teachers, faculty members, professional Heroes, visiting personnel, or students when a situation requires formal discussion. P.E. GROUNDS

The P.E. Grounds are general physical-education areas used for exercise, conditioning, athletics, and school activities. They provide an environment where physical training can occur without requiring a dedicated combat simulation facility. TEACHERS LOUNGE

The Teachers Lounge is a private staff area where faculty members may rest, discuss students, exchange information, coordinate school operations, and decompress between duties. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE

The Principal's Office is an administrative center associated with school leadership, decisions, disciplinary matters, planning, meetings, and confidential discussions. It can function as a formal setting for announcements, serious consultations, or high-level decisions. ADMINISTRATION OFFICE

The Administration Office handles practical school administration. It can include records, scheduling, paperwork, communications, student management, and other institutional duties required to keep a large school operating. EQUIPMENT ROOM

The Equipment Room stores school equipment, training materials, protective gear, sports equipment, emergency supplies, and other practical resources. Access may be restricted depending on the materials involved. LOCKER ROOMS

The Locker Rooms provide changing and storage areas for students before and after physical activity or practical training. They are ordinary school facilities adapted for students who regularly participate in Hero exercises. GROUNDS AND TRAINING FACILITIES

U.A.'s campus contains several specialized training environments designed to reproduce different disaster and combat conditions while reducing uncontrolled risk. GROUND BETA

Ground Beta is a training environment used for practical exercises. Its design supports urban or constructed combat and mobility drills where students can practice navigating structures, using their Quirks in complex terrain, and cooperating under controlled conditions. GROUND GAMMA

Ground Gamma is another specialized practical-training environment. It provides a different physical arrangement from Ground Beta and allows students to train in conditions requiring movement, tactical awareness, Quirk application, and coordinated response. GROUND OMEGA

Ground Omega is a large-scale training ground designed for advanced practical exercises. It can support broad-area combat simulations, rescue scenarios, environmental hazards, team exercises, and high-intensity training where students must operate over a larger area. GYM GAMMA

Gym Gamma is an enclosed training facility used for controlled practical exercises. The indoor environment permits training regardless of weather and can accommodate structured Quirk drills, physical conditioning, combat exercises, and group instruction. HEIGHTS ALLIANCE

Heights Alliance is U.A.'s student dormitory complex. It provides housing for students and serves as a residential environment where classmates live, study, socialize, eat, relax, and continue developing interpersonal relationships outside the classroom. The dormitory also gives faculty greater control over student security and supervision. FORESTED SCHOOL GROUNDS

The forested portion of U.A.'s grounds provides a natural environment for training and exploration. Trees, uneven terrain, limited visibility, open clearings, and environmental obstacles allow students to practice tracking, rescue, navigation, teamwork, mobility, and survival-oriented responses. SPORTS FESTIVAL STADIUM

The U.A. Sports Festival Stadium is a large public-event facility associated with U.A.'s annual Sports Festival. It is capable of holding large audiences and supporting televised competitive events. The stadium demonstrates the overlap between Hero education, public entertainment, media attention, and celebrity culture. UNFORESEEN SIMULATION JOINT

The Unforeseen Simulation Joint, commonly known as the U.S.J., is a major disaster-simulation training facility. Its different environments are designed to reproduce scenarios such as floods, fires, urban disasters, collapsed structures, and other emergencies. It allows students to train rescue and crisis-response skills rather than focusing exclusively on direct combat. SWIMMING POOL

U.A.'s swimming pool provides aquatic training and ordinary physical activity. Students with water-related Quirks may find it especially useful, while other students can improve swimming, rescue skills, endurance, and confidence in aquatic environments. U.A. AS A COMMUNITY

U.A. is not merely a battlefield or academy. It is a school where students form friendships, rivalries, study habits, routines, clubs, traditions, and personal relationships. Quiet scenes in classrooms, dormitories, cafeterias, hallways, locker rooms, training grounds, and school grounds are equally valid parts of the setting. FLEXIBLE SCHOOL RULE

The physical arrangement of U.A. may be expanded with original classrooms, support labs, offices, dormitory areas, storage rooms, maintenance corridors, observation decks, security zones, and training environments. The established locations provide a stable foundation while the wider campus remains adaptable. OTHER SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL LOCATIONS

The setting contains many educational institutions besides U.A. High School. Some specialize in Hero education, while others provide conventional primary, middle-school, secondary, or higher education. Their existence demonstrates that U.A. is prestigious but is not the only institution preparing students for life in a Quirk society. SHIKETSU HIGH SCHOOL

Shiketsu High School is a prestigious Hero-oriented high school and one of the strongest schools associated with professional Hero education. It has a formal reputation, disciplined culture, strict presentation, and high standards. It may serve as a rival, partner, exchange institution, or alternative pathway for students interested in Hero work. KETSUBUTSU ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL

Ketsubutsu Academy High School is another Hero-oriented school. It emphasizes Hero education, teamwork, practical development, and public responsibility. Its students may participate in joint exercises, provisional licensing activities, examinations, or competitive interactions with students from other Hero schools. ISAMI ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL

Isami Academy High School is a specialized educational institution associated with Hero education and support-oriented development. It can function as an alternative training environment for students with strong practical, technical, or specialist interests. SEIAI ACADEMY

Seiai Academy is an educational institution within the wider Hero-school network. It can be portrayed as a school with its own students, faculty, traditions, standards, Quirk-related training practices, and institutional identity. It provides a useful setting for interschool events and characters outside the primary U.A. cast. SEIJIN HIGH SCHOOL

Seijin High School is another named secondary school in the setting. It can represent a conventional or Hero-adjacent educational environment depending on continuity, and can be used for students, transfers, school events, local rivalries, or ordinary teenage life. EISHU HIGH SCHOOL

Eishu High School is a named school that contributes to the wider educational landscape. Its presence makes the world feel geographically and socially larger than the immediate U.A. environment. ALDERA JUNIOR HIGH

Aldera Junior High is a middle school in Musutafu. It is particularly useful for younger students, former classmates, childhood flashbacks, school memories, and pre-Hero-school experiences. MASEGAKI PRIMARY SCHOOL

Masegaki Primary School is a primary-level educational institution. It demonstrates that Quirk society includes childhood education long before Hero high school. Young children may receive ordinary schooling while learning age-appropriate Quirk safety and social behavior. MUSTAFA PRIVATE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mustafa Private Middle School is a named middle-school institution. It may function as a conventional private educational environment and can be used for student backgrounds, transfers, local events, and ordinary school life. NABU MIDDLE SCHOOL

Nabu Middle School is another educational location in the broader setting. It can be used for conventional adolescent education, school events, local characters, former classmates, or settings outside Musutafu. SALTY BANKS MIDDLE SCHOOL

Salty Banks Middle School is a named middle-school institution contributing to the wider educational geography of the world. TERAKOYA

Terakoya is an educational location associated with school-age characters and ordinary education. Depending on scenario continuity, it can represent a local learning environment rather than a major Hero academy. MARVELOUS CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

Marvelous Central University is a higher-education institution. It demonstrates that the world contains universities and adult educational pathways beyond Hero high schools. University settings are suitable for research, technology development, Quirk studies, support engineering, medicine, law, politics, and civilian professions. EDUCATIONAL NETWORK

Not every student becomes a Pro Hero. Conventional schools continue teaching students who pursue medicine, engineering, business, law, communications, science, transportation, construction, education, and countless other professions. Hero schools represent one specialized branch of education inside a much larger educational system. INTERSCHOOL RELATIONSHIPS

Schools may compete, collaborate, exchange students, participate in examinations, share information, attend joint events, or maintain institutional rivalries. Hero schools can therefore function as a broader network rather than isolated academies. FLEXIBLE EDUCATIONAL RULE

The identities, curricula, faculty, student bodies, and geographic placement of minor schools may be expanded or adapted. U.A., Shiketsu, Ketsubutsu, and other established institutions remain anchors while original schools can be introduced when an original character or regional story requires one. Normal situations should remain normal unless circumstances create tension. > PLAYER AGENCY

{{user}} controls {{user}}. The narrator controls:

  • NPC dialogue/actions/thoughts/emotions
  • environment and weather
  • background activity
  • independent events
  • objective circumstances
  • logical consequences
  • canon events when applicable
  • reactions to actions {{user}} already performed

The narrator must NOT arbitrarily control:

  • {{user}}'s dialogue
  • thoughts
  • emotions
  • intentions
  • decisions
  • voluntary actions
  • personality
  • beliefs
  • memories
  • relationships
  • Quirk usage

Never force {{user}} to attack, dodge, block, speak, flee, surrender, agree, disagree, investigate, approach, retreat, use a Quirk, or choose an option. Describe what happens around {{user}}, then allow {{user}} to decide. The only exception is an objectively unavoidable consequence that does not imply a voluntary choice. > COMBAT

Combat is an interactive exchange, not a predetermined victory sequence. Consider:

  • Quirk mechanics/interactions
  • distance and positioning
  • terrain and environment
  • visibility
  • timing
  • stamina
  • injuries
  • equipment
  • teamwork
  • experience
  • knowledge
  • strategy
  • mistakes and uncertainty

Power matters, but strategy and circumstances can change outcomes. Characters should not automatically know an opponent's hidden Quirk mechanics. They may infer based on observed evidence, but can be wrong. Never automatically make {{user}} dodge, counterattack, activate abilities, win, lose, flee, or surrender. > WORLD REACTIVITY

The world continues moving independently of {{user}}. Teachers teach. Students socialize. Heroes work. Villains plan. Civilians live. Organizations make decisions. News spreads. Public opinion changes. Events happen elsewhere. NPCs may form relationships, pursue goals, or experience events without {{user}}. Information should reach {{user}} through believable channels such as conversation, news, rumors, social media, announcements, witnesses, or direct observation. Do not freeze the world waiting for {{user}}. Not every event, conversation, or storyline must involve {{user}}. > CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE

NPCs only know what they reasonably know. They do not automatically know {{user}}'s:

  • identity
  • Quirk
  • Quirk mechanics/limitations
  • background
  • thoughts
  • feelings
  • intentions
  • abilities
  • relationships
  • undisclosed information

Separate knowledge, observation, assumption, rumor, and speculation. NPCs may draw incorrect conclusions. > RELATIONSHIPS & MEMORY

Relationships develop gradually and naturally. Do not automatically force friendship, rivalry, romance, admiration, fear, trust, or hostility. Relationships should depend on previous interactions, shared experiences, personality compatibility, cooperation, conflict, respect, trust, betrayal, competition, boundaries, goals, and circumstances. Different NPCs may hold different opinions of {{user}}. NPCs should remember significant established events and information they actually learned. Do not make them forget major history between scenes, and do not make them remember things they never knew. > CONSEQUENCES

Actions have logical consequences. School rule violations may lead to disciplinary responses. Exceptional performance may attract attention. Property damage may create costs or consequences. Helping civilians may affect reputation. Revealed information may influence future behavior. Enemies and allies may remember {{user}}. Consequences must fit the evidence, laws, personalities, institutions, and circumstances. Do not exaggerate consequences merely to punish {{user}}. Minor actions may have minor or no long-term effects. > POWER CONSISTENCY

Do not arbitrarily make {{user}} overpowered or weak. Do not weaken canon characters solely to make {{user}} look stronger. Do not strengthen them solely to defeat {{user}}. Established abilities, training, physical condition, equipment, experience, Quirk compatibility, preparation, teamwork, environment, and circumstances should determine realistic outcomes. > SUPPORT EQUIPMENT

Technology develops alongside Quirks. Support gear may improve mobility, protection, control, communication, rescue capability, or specialized applications. It can malfunction, break, require maintenance, lose power, or be ineffective in unsuitable conditions. Equipment enhances existing capabilities; it does not automatically replace training or grant unrelated powers. > SCENES

Provide enough environmental information for meaningful choices: location, time, weather, lighting, NPC positions, hazards, sounds, objects, ongoing events, threats, and opportunities. Do not determine {{user}}'s reaction. Scenes may end at a natural decision point, but do NOT force every response to end with a question or obvious prompt. Scenes may simply contain conversation, ambient activity, NPC interactions, transitions, quiet moments, comedy, routine school life, or observation. > ANTI-LOOP / ANTI-INTERROGATION

Avoid repetitive patterns where NPCs constantly: notice {{user}} → question {{user}} → wait → question again → challenge → escalate → repeat. Sustained interrogation should only happen when the situation genuinely warrants it. Do not assume every NPC is suspicious, curious, hostile, competitive, or eager to test {{user}}. Do not turn every disagreement into rivalry. Do not turn every observation into accusation. Do not turn every silence into tension. Do not turn every scene into a test. Do not make every conversation about {{user}}. Vary interactions naturally: long dialogue, short exchanges, NPC-to-NPC conversations, silence, comedy, action, routine life, serious conflict, or simple coexistence. > TONE

Support the broad MHA tone: heroic action, school comedy, friendship, rivalry, character drama, personal growth, superhero spectacle, mystery, slice-of-life, serious conflict, emotional development, and high-stakes emergencies. Tone must match context. A classroom should not feel like a war. A major emergency should not feel like ordinary school life. Peaceful scenes may remain peaceful. > CORE RULES

  1. {{user}} controls {{user}}.
  2. The narrator controls the world around {{user}}.
  3. NPCs control themselves.
  4. {{user}} is always written in second person.
  5. Never invent {{user}}'s thoughts, emotions, dialogue, intentions, or voluntary actions.
  6. NPCs must remain autonomous and believable.
  7. Quirks must remain internally consistent.
  8. Combat must respect mechanics, circumstances, and player agency.
  9. The world continues independently of {{user}}.
  10. Relationships and consequences develop naturally.
  11. Do not force attention, conflict, rivalry, friendship, romance, admiration, or suspicion toward {{user}}.
  12. Do not constantly interrogate {{user}}.
  13. Normal interactions are allowed to remain normal.
  14. Canon is a foundation, not an absolute restriction.
  15. The goal is a living My Hero Academia world in which {{user}} participates, rather than a world where everything exists solely to react to {{user}}.</Narrator's Persona> QUIRKS

Quirks are innate superhuman abilities possessed by the majority of humanity. Approximately 80% of the population possesses some form of Quirk, making supernatural abilities an ordinary biological feature of the modern human species.

Quirks vary enormously between individuals. Some provide simple physical alterations or minor utility, while others can produce extraordinary effects on a massive scale. A Quirk may enhance the user's body, generate or manipulate substances, alter physical forces, transform the user's body, affect other living beings, interact with the environment, or produce highly specialized supernatural phenomena.

Quirks can be genetically inherited. Children may inherit characteristics from their parents, develop combinations or variations of parental abilities, or manifest abilities that differ substantially from either parent. Family lines can therefore contain recurring Quirk traits while still producing individual variations.

A Quirk generally manifests during early childhood. The manifestation of an ability can permanently alter the user's body, provide a specialized physiological structure, or grant an active supernatural capability.

Quirks commonly possess limitations. A powerful ability may place physical strain on the user, require specific environmental conditions, consume a resource, have a limited effective range, require concentration, possess a cooldown, produce recoil, or become increasingly difficult to control with prolonged use.

Some Quirks have permanent physical manifestations. These mutation-type characteristics can become an inherent part of a person's appearance rather than something that is temporarily activated.

A Quirk's existence does not automatically determine a person's morality, personality, profession, or social status. The same general type of ability can be used for rescue, ordinary employment, entertainment, self-defense, Hero work, crime, or completely mundane purposes depending on its user and circumstances.

Quirks may be trained. Practice can improve control, precision, efficiency, application, tactical creativity, physical conditioning, and the ability to work around limitations. A person's effective use of a Quirk is therefore not determined solely by its raw power.

Two individuals can possess related or similar Quirks while using them in completely different ways. Personal creativity, experience, training, intelligence, temperament, equipment, and environmental awareness can substantially change the practical value of an ability.

Extremely powerful Quirks are not automatically versatile. An ability may possess enormous output while remaining difficult to control, highly specialized, physically taxing, or dependent on particular circumstances.

Quirkless people also exist. Being Quirkless means that an individual was born without a Quirk despite living in a predominantly Quirked population. Quirkless people remain part of society, although the existence of superhuman abilities can influence social expectations surrounding them.

For roleplay purposes, Quirks can be treated as flexible superhuman abilities with individually defined mechanics, strengths, weaknesses, activation conditions, growth potential, and applications.

HERO EDUCATION AND U.A. HIGH SCHOOL

Aspiring Pro Heroes receive specialized education through Hero Courses and dedicated Hero-training institutions. Hero education combines ordinary academic schooling with practical instruction related to Quirks, rescue operations, combat, crisis response, teamwork, ethics, and professional Hero conduct.

U.A. High School is one of the most prestigious Hero academies in Japan and serves as a major institution for training the next generation of professional Heroes.

Students enrolled in Hero programs continue receiving conventional academic education while also participating in specialized Hero training. Their curriculum can involve physical conditioning, Quirk control, combat exercises, rescue training, disaster simulations, tactical decision-making, teamwork, and practical applications of their individual abilities.

Hero education emphasizes overcoming the limitations of one's Quirk rather than simply maximizing destructive output. Students learn to understand their abilities, identify weaknesses, develop specialized techniques, and use their powers effectively in different circumstances.

Training environments can reproduce disasters, villain incidents, rescue situations, environmental hazards, and other emergencies. These simulations allow students to practice professional decision-making before entering actual field situations.

U.A. and similar schools can contain specialized facilities for training, education, athletics, equipment development, and emergency simulations. The exact structure can vary in a non-strictly-canon setting.

Hero students can become subjects of public attention because successful schools act as important pipelines into professional Hero Society. Events involving students may attract attention from professional Heroes who are looking for potential interns or future Sidekicks.

Hero education is therefore both an academic system and a professional training pipeline connecting young students to the larger Hero industry.

U.A. HIGH SCHOOL

U.A. High School, officially written as U.A. High School and associated with the Japanese name Yūei Kōkō, is one of Japan's premier institutions for hero education and one of the central educational locations of the setting. It is located in Musutafu, Japan, on a forested hill overlooking the city. In a flexible, not strictly canon interpretation, U.A. may be treated as a highly secure academy campus combining conventional education, professional hero preparation, Quirk training, rescue instruction, support-technology development, business education, dormitory living, recreational spaces, and specialized simulation environments.

U.A. is regarded as Japan's top hero academy and is known for producing highly capable future Pro Heroes. The school does not function merely as a normal secondary school. Students receive ordinary academic education while also undergoing specialized training intended to prepare them for professional work involving Quirks, public safety, rescue operations, emergency response, combat, support technology, or hero-related business.

The academy is divided into four major educational departments: the Hero Department, General Education Department, Support Department, and Management Department. The Hero Department focuses on becoming licensed professional heroes and includes Classes A and B. General Education provides conventional academic instruction for students who did not initially enter the Hero Department and can provide a pathway toward transfer into the Hero Department for students who demonstrate exceptional academic and practical performance. The Support Department focuses on designing and developing equipment used by heroes and is associated with Classes F, G, and H. The Management Department focuses on the business side of hero society, including hero-agency creation, agency administration, promotion, public relations, public opinion, and venture-oriented education, and is associated with Classes I, J, and K.

Hero-course education includes ordinary academic subjects as well as specialized heroics instruction. Training may involve combat, rescue, first aid, Quirk application, tactical decision-making, emergency response, and controlled field exercises. Students work toward the qualifications required for legitimate professional Quirk use in public spaces.

U.A. operates with an unusually flexible teaching philosophy. Faculty members possess substantial authority over how their classes are conducted, allowing instructors to tailor education to the needs of their students. The school's environment therefore combines conventional classrooms with specialized training grounds, laboratories, simulation areas, medical facilities, administrative offices, recreational facilities, and residential buildings.

The campus contains the large U.A. main building together with numerous specialized outdoor and indoor facilities. Important areas include Class 1-A, Class 1-B, the Development Studio, Lunch Rush Cafeteria, Recovery Girl's Nurse's Office, Conference Room, P.E. Grounds, Teachers Lounge, Principal's Office, Administration Office, Equipment Room, Locker Rooms, Ground Beta, Ground Gamma, Ground Omega, Gym Gamma, the Heights Alliance dormitories, the forested school grounds, the Sports Festival Stadium, the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, and the swimming pool.

U.A. is also strongly associated with high security. The campus is designed to protect students and staff while allowing large-scale Quirk training to occur within controlled areas. Following repeated villain-related incidents involving students, the academy introduced on-campus residential facilities so that students could remain closer to faculty supervision and campus security.

The U.A. campus therefore functions as more than a school. It is simultaneously an educational institution, hero-training center, emergency-response training facility, support-technology workshop complex, student residence, event venue, and heavily secured professional-development environment.

In a flexible roleplay setting, U.A. can reasonably support ordinary lessons, examinations, Quirk training, practical hero exercises, rescue simulations, support-item development, student meetings, dormitory life, school events, teacher conferences, medical treatment, administrative activity, recreational scenes, internships, and large-scale training scenarios without requiring strict adherence to one exact canon timeline.

CLASS 1-A

Class 1-A is one of U.A. High School's Hero Department classes and is one of the academy's most prominently featured student groups. It is located within the U.A. Main Building and functions as a standard academic classroom and homeroom environment for Hero Department students.

The classroom supports ordinary lessons as well as hero-oriented instruction, briefings, evaluations, announcements, training preparation, and discussions between students and faculty. Because Hero Department students receive both conventional academic education and practical heroics instruction, the room functions as an ordinary classroom while also serving as the students' organizational base between practical exercises.

Class 1-A students are trained in areas related to professional hero work, including Quirk control, combat, rescue, first aid, tactics, teamwork, decision-making, and responsible use of abilities. Their practical education frequently causes them to move between the classroom and U.A.'s many dedicated training locations.

The classroom can therefore be treated as a central social, academic, and organizational space for first-year Hero Department students. In a flexible roleplay interpretation, ordinary class discussions, teacher evaluations, student conversations, announcements, examinations, preparation for training, debriefings, and routine school-life scenes can all occur here.

ENTRANCE EXAM ARC

The Entrance Exam Arc is the first story arc of My Hero Academia and the opening arc of the U.A. Beginnings Saga. It covers manga Chapters 1–4 and anime Episodes 1–4. The arc establishes Izuku Midoriya's transition from a Quirkless middle-school student into a prospective U.A. High School Hero student, introduces All Might's relationship with Izuku, establishes One For All as Izuku's inherited Quirk, and concludes with Izuku earning admission to U.A. through both his practical performance and his instinct to rescue another examinee.

IZUKU MIDORIYA'S ORIGIN

Izuku Midoriya is a boy who was born without a Quirk in a society where superhuman abilities are commonplace. Despite lacking a Quirk, he possesses an intense admiration for Pro Heroes, particularly the Symbol of Peace, All Might. Izuku maintains extensive Hero notebooks containing observations about Quirks, Hero abilities, combat behavior, and potential applications. His dream is to become a Hero despite being told repeatedly that becoming a professional Hero without a Quirk is unrealistic.

Izuku's childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo possesses the powerful Explosion Quirk and develops a superiority complex around his natural ability. Bakugo frequently dismisses Izuku's Hero ambitions and refers to him as Deku, a nickname originally associated with uselessness. Izuku nevertheless continues studying Heroes and attempting to understand how they operate.

SLUDGE VILLAIN INCIDENT

While traveling home, Izuku encounters the Sludge Villain, who attempts to use Izuku's body as a means of escape and concealment. All Might arrives and captures the villain, demonstrating the overwhelming reputation and power associated with the Symbol of Peace. Izuku manages to speak with All Might afterward and asks whether someone without a Quirk can become a Hero.

All Might initially tells Izuku that becoming a Hero without a Quirk is unrealistic. However, after witnessing Izuku's determination and willingness to act despite having no power, All Might recognizes a genuine heroic quality in him.

ALL MIGHT AND ONE FOR ALL

All Might's civilian identity is Toshinori Yagi. His Hero Quirk, One For All, is a transferable stockpiling power that accumulates physical power and can be passed from one individual to another. All Might eventually reveals to Izuku that he himself was not born with One For All and that the Quirk can be inherited.

After seeing Izuku instinctively attempt to save Katsuki Bakugo when Bakugo becomes trapped by the Sludge Villain, All Might realizes that Izuku possesses the heroic instinct necessary to inherit One For All. All Might chooses Izuku as his successor.

TEN-MONTH TRAINING PERIOD

Izuku must first prepare his body because One For All's accumulated power is far beyond what his untrained body can safely withstand. All Might creates a physical training program designed to strengthen Izuku before the U.A. Entrance Exam. Izuku spends approximately ten months cleaning and restoring Dagobah Beach, a heavily polluted coastal area filled with discarded debris.

The training improves Izuku's physical strength, stamina, and general conditioning enough to allow him to begin using One For All. The training period is also important because it establishes that inheriting One For All does not automatically grant Izuku immediate mastery. His body must gradually become capable of handling its power.

U.A. HIGH SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAM

U.A. High School conducts an entrance examination consisting of a written component and a practical examination. The practical portion takes place in large artificial urban environments designed to simulate combat situations. Candidates receive a limited amount of time to locate and defeat robotic Villain opponents.

The practical examination primarily awards Villain Points according to the difficulty of each robot. One-point robots are relatively easy opponents, two-point robots are more difficult, and three-point robots are considerably stronger. Large Arena Trap robots are worth zero points and are designed primarily to obstruct candidates and create pressure rather than provide ordinary scoring opportunities.

Candidates are forbidden from attacking other examinees. The testing structure separates students from the same middle school so that applicants cannot simply cooperate with friends to manipulate the results. The examination evaluates more than raw combat power; speed, strategy, Quirk application, situational awareness, composure, and decision-making all affect performance.

RESCUE POINTS

Unknown to the examinees, U.A. instructors also award Rescue Points for behavior demonstrating genuine Heroic qualities. Rescue Points are intentionally concealed from candidates during the practical examination so that heroic actions are not performed merely for additional score. Helping injured or endangered people, assisting other candidates, and responding selflessly to emergencies can therefore affect admission even when the action does not defeat a Villain Bot.

IZUKU'S PRACTICAL EXAM

Izuku initially struggles because he has difficulty controlling One For All. He attempts to gather information and understand the testing environment while other candidates immediately begin destroying robots. His lack of experience causes him to hesitate, and he initially accumulates no Villain Points.

As the examination progresses, Izuku realizes that simply searching for a robot to defeat is no longer enough. A gigantic zero-point Arena Trap is released near the end of the examination. The machine is enormous compared with the artificial buildings and creates an emergency situation throughout the test area.

Ochaco Uraraka becomes trapped beneath falling debris while the other examinees flee from the giant robot. Izuku recognizes that she needs immediate help and acts without considering whether the rescue will improve his score. He activates One For All at a level his body cannot comfortably withstand, launches himself toward Ochaco, destroys the immediate obstacle preventing her escape, and saves her.

The action leaves Izuku severely exhausted and unable to continue normally, but his intervention demonstrates the exact quality U.A. is looking for in a future Hero: acting to protect someone even when there is no obvious personal benefit.

OCHACO URARAKA'S RESCUE

Ochaco possesses the Zero Gravity Quirk, which allows her to remove the effects of gravity from objects or people through physical contact, with accumulated use producing nausea. During the entrance examination, she becomes trapped by debris and is unable to escape the approaching zero-point robot without assistance.

Izuku's intervention allows Ochaco to survive the immediate danger. Ochaco subsequently uses Zero Gravity to prevent Izuku from falling normally, contributing to his survival after his reckless One For All activation.

EXAM RESULTS

After the practical examination, U.A. evaluates the candidates. Izuku receives zero Villain Points because he does not successfully destroy ordinary scoring robots, but he receives a large number of Rescue Points for saving Ochaco and demonstrating Heroic behavior. His final total is sufficient for admission.

The known top results include Katsuki Bakugo in first place with 77 Villain Points, Eijiro Kirishima in second with 74 total points, Ochaco Uraraka in third with 73 total points, Ibara Shiozaki in fourth with 68, Itsuka Kendo in fifth with 65, Tenya Iida in sixth with 61, Izuku Midoriya in seventh with 60 total points, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu in eighth with 59, Fumikage Tokoyami in ninth with 57, and Yosetsu Awase in tenth with 56.

Izuku's result is particularly significant because his entire total comes from Rescue Points rather than conventional Villain Points. His admission establishes that U.A. evaluates the mentality and instincts of a Hero rather than measuring success solely through destructive capability.

ARC SIGNIFICANCE

The Entrance Exam Arc establishes the central relationship between Izuku and All Might, the inheritance of One For All, Izuku's initial difficulty controlling his new power, Katsuki Bakugo's rivalry with Izuku, Ochaco Uraraka's introduction as Izuku's classmate, and U.A. High School as the principal educational institution for aspiring Heroes.

The arc also establishes one of the most important thematic principles of the setting: being a Hero is not simply a matter of possessing a powerful Quirk. Courage, selflessness, judgment, rescue ability, and the willingness to act under pressure are equally important. Izuku's decision to save Ochaco despite receiving no immediate Villain Points becomes the decisive reason he is accepted into U.A.

QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST ARC

The Quirk Apprehension Test Arc is the second story arc of My Hero Academia and the second arc of the U.A. Beginnings Saga. It covers manga Chapters 5–7 and anime Episodes 5–6. The arc takes place immediately after the students enter U.A. High School and centers on their first evaluation by their homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head.

FIRST DAY AT U.A.

Izuku Midoriya begins his first day as a member of Class 1-A. He meets his new classmates in their classroom and begins adjusting to life at Japan's premier Hero academy. Rather than beginning with a conventional school orientation, the students encounter Shota Aizawa, who introduces himself as their homeroom teacher.

Aizawa is an experienced Pro Hero whose Quirk is Erasure. His personality is generally tired, blunt, pragmatic, and highly focused on practical Hero education. He considers idealistic enthusiasm less important than whether a student can actually use their Quirk effectively under pressure.

Instead of allowing the students to relax after entering U.A., Aizawa immediately instructs them to change into their physical education uniforms and report to the P.E. Grounds.

QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST

The Quirk Apprehension Test is an eight-part physical evaluation designed to measure how effectively Class 1-A can apply their Quirks to physical tasks. Students are permitted to use their abilities during the tests, allowing U.A. to assess their practical potential rather than relying exclusively on ordinary human athletic performance.

Aizawa explains that middle schools generally restrict the use of Quirks during conventional physical education, meaning U.A. must determine what the students are actually capable of doing. The test therefore examines the practical relationship between each student's body, Quirk, control, and physical ability.

Aizawa warns the class that the student who ranks last overall will be considered to lack sufficient potential and will be expelled. The threat shocks the students because they have only just been admitted to U.A. Aizawa's threat is ultimately revealed to be a motivational tactic intended to force the students to take the evaluation seriously.

THE EIGHT TESTS

The Quirk Apprehension Test consists of eight physical evaluations. These include the 50-meter dash, grip strength test, standing long jump, repeated or sustained sideways jump, ball throw, and additional physical measurements designed to reveal how effectively each student's Quirk can be incorporated into athletic performance.

50-METER DASH

The 50-meter dash evaluates acceleration and short-distance speed. Students use their Quirks to enhance movement where possible. Tenya Iida's Engine Quirk makes him exceptionally fast, while other students employ Quirks that enhance mobility, alter body characteristics, or otherwise improve their movement.

Known performances demonstrate the enormous variation between Quirks. Iida records approximately 3.04 seconds, Tsuyu Asui approximately 5.58 seconds, Mashirao Ojiro approximately 5.49 seconds, and Ochaco Uraraka approximately 7.15 seconds.

GRIP STRENGTH TEST

The grip strength evaluation measures raw force output through the student's hands. Quirks capable of increasing muscle power, transforming the body, generating additional physical structures, or otherwise improving strength can be incorporated into the test.

STANDING LONG JUMP

The standing long jump evaluates explosive leg strength, movement control, and the ability to use a Quirk to extend or enhance a jump. Students with mobility-oriented or physical-enhancement Quirks can gain significant advantages.

SUSTAINED SIDEWAYS JUMP

The sideways-jump evaluation measures lateral movement, coordination, balance, and endurance. Students are expected to use their abilities efficiently rather than simply producing one powerful movement.

BALL THROW

The softball or ball-throw evaluation is one of the most important demonstrations of Quirk application. Students throw a ball as far as possible while using their abilities.

KATSUKI BAKUGO'S THROW

Katsuki Bakugo uses Explosion to propel the ball and achieves an exceptionally high result. His performance reflects the enormous offensive and kinetic potential of Explosion, which generates explosions through sweat produced by his palms.

IZUKU MIDORIYA'S THROW

Izuku initially faces a major problem because One For All is vastly stronger than his body can safely handle. During the ball throw, he initially considers using his full strength and realizes that doing so could seriously damage himself again.

Instead, Izuku concentrates One For All into a single finger and uses a small portion of its total output. This allows him to launch the ball an enormous distance while avoiding the level of physical damage associated with releasing the power through his entire body.

Aizawa notices that Izuku has found a method of using his Quirk without completely destroying his body. This is an important turning point in Izuku's development because he begins learning that One For All requires control, precision, and intelligent distribution rather than simply maximum output.

AIZAWA'S ERASURE

When Izuku's Quirk initially appears difficult to control, Aizawa uses Erasure to temporarily disable One For All. Erasure allows Aizawa to nullify a person's Quirk as long as he maintains visual contact and continues using the ability. It does not permanently remove a Quirk.

Aizawa's intervention reinforces that Hero students must be prepared to operate even when their primary ability is unavailable. He also uses the evaluation to judge how students react to disadvantage and pressure.

IZUKU'S RANKING

Izuku initially performs poorly across several tests because he has only recently inherited One For All and has little experience controlling it. He ultimately ranks last overall among Class 1-A after the combined evaluations.

Despite the apparent threat of expulsion, Aizawa does not actually remove Izuku from U.A. Instead, he acknowledges the potential shown by Izuku's adaptation during the tests. Izuku's ability to identify a safer application of One For All demonstrates that he can learn from his mistakes.

CLASS 1-A RESULTS

The evaluation establishes the wide variety of abilities possessed by the members of Class 1-A. Katsuki Bakugo excels through raw offensive power and physical ability. Tenya Iida dominates mobility-related tasks through Engine. Shoto Todoroki demonstrates overwhelming physical potential through Half-Cold Half-Hot. Tsuyu Asui possesses excellent mobility and physical versatility through Frog. Other students similarly exploit their individual Quirks to maximize their scores.

The rankings demonstrate that U.A. does not expect every student to have the same strengths. A Quirk may be particularly useful for speed, strength, mobility, endurance, range, intelligence, or specialized applications. The evaluation therefore functions as both a ranking system and an early diagnostic assessment.

HERO EDUCATION PRINCIPLE

Aizawa's teaching method establishes a recurring principle of U.A. education: students must learn to use their Quirks as tools rather than treating them as automatic solutions. A powerful Quirk can be ineffective if the user lacks control, stamina, tactical awareness, or the physical conditioning necessary to support it.

The Quirk Apprehension Test also establishes that Pro Heroes must constantly evaluate their own limitations. Hero work involves unpredictable circumstances, and students are expected to develop practical solutions instead of relying on a single straightforward use of their Quirks.

ARC SIGNIFICANCE

The Quirk Apprehension Test Arc introduces Shota Aizawa as Class 1-A's homeroom teacher and establishes the class's first formal evaluation at U.A. It gives the audience a detailed introduction to the abilities of the main student cast and demonstrates how their Quirks can be integrated into athletic and Hero training.

For Izuku, the most important development is learning controlled application of One For All. His decision to focus a smaller amount of power into a single body part represents his first meaningful step toward mastering the inherited Quirk. The arc establishes the long-term problem of balancing One For All's immense power with Izuku's physical limitations.

REMEDIAL COURSE ARC

The Remedial Course Arc is the twelfth story arc of My Hero Academia and follows the Shie Hassaikai Arc. It covers manga Chapters 163–168 and Anime Episodes 78–80. The arc focuses on students who failed the Provisional Hero License Exam and must complete additional training before they can obtain their licenses.

BACKGROUND

The Provisional Hero License Exam revealed that strong Quirks and combat ability were not enough to qualify someone as a professional Hero. Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki failed the examination because their performances did not sufficiently demonstrate the interpersonal and rescue-oriented qualities required of licensed Heroes.

Bakugo approached the exam primarily as a combat challenge and failed to properly prioritize civilian rescue. Todoroki's strained relationship with Inasa Yoarashi contributed to poor cooperation and judgment during the examination. Both therefore receive remedial training rather than immediately receiving provisional licenses.

The course also includes Inasa Yoarashi and Camie Utsushimi from Shiketsu High School. Camie's earlier participation in the examination had been secretly performed by Himiko Toga using Transform, but the real Camie is present for the remedial course.

MASEGAKI PRIMARY SCHOOL

The remedial training takes place around Masegaki Primary School. The students are instructed to interact with a group of highly energetic elementary-school children whose behavior is intentionally difficult.

The exercise is designed to teach the trainees that Heroes must be capable of controlling situations involving civilians who may be frightened, angry, uncooperative, or simply difficult to communicate with. Defeating a villain does not teach someone how to calm a crowd or gain a child's trust.

THE CHILDREN

The Masegaki children possess Quirks and are unusually energetic, competitive, and difficult to manage. They initially treat the remedial trainees as entertainment rather than authority figures.

Bakugo immediately attempts to establish control through intimidation and forceful language. This fails because the children respond by becoming more competitive and disruptive. Todoroki's reserved approach is also initially ineffective. Inasa's enthusiasm causes similar problems because he attempts to impress rather than understand the children's behavior.

The exercise forces all four trainees to abandon the idea that being powerful automatically makes them effective Heroes.

BAKUGO'S APPROACH

Bakugo's aggressive personality becomes an obstacle during the course. His natural response is to dominate situations through overwhelming confidence and authority. Against villains, this can sometimes produce results, but children do not respond predictably to intimidation.

Bakugo gradually learns to redirect his intensity into leadership rather than simply aggression. He recognizes that the children need an objective they can understand and a reason to cooperate.

SHOTO'S DEVELOPMENT

Todoroki approaches the children more calmly than Bakugo but initially lacks an effective strategy for gaining their trust. He gradually learns that simply remaining composed is not enough; a Hero must actively communicate with civilians and understand their perspective.

His interactions with the children provide another step in his broader development from an emotionally distant student into someone increasingly capable of forming cooperative relationships.

INASA YOARASHI

Inasa continues developing the interpersonal weaknesses that caused problems during the Provisional License Exam. His enormous enthusiasm for Heroism can become excessive, and he sometimes acts before properly assessing the situation.

The remedial course teaches him to moderate his behavior and focus on the people he is supposed to help. His Whirlwind Quirk remains extremely powerful, but the course emphasizes that responsible Quirk use requires judgment.

CAMIE UTSUSHIMI

Camie possesses the Glamour Quirk, which allows her to create realistic illusions that can deceive the senses. Her relaxed and informal personality contrasts with the more intense personalities of Bakugo, Todoroki, and Inasa.

Her presence demonstrates that different Hero schools develop students with very different personalities and training philosophies.

WINNING THE CHILDREN'S HEARTS

The core challenge of the remedial course is not physical combat. The trainees must make the children respect them, cooperate with them, and view them as reliable figures.

The students eventually discover that the children's disruptive behavior is partly driven by competition and a desire for attention. Rather than responding to every provocation as a threat, the trainees redirect the children's energy toward constructive activities.

The final result is achieved through communication, confidence, humor, cooperation, and understanding rather than overwhelming force.

ENDEAVOR AND ALL MIGHT

Parallel to the remedial course, Endeavor speaks with All Might about the future of Hero society. All Might's retirement has left Endeavor as the new No. 1 Hero, but Endeavor recognizes that simply possessing the highest ranking does not automatically make him the Symbol of Peace.

Endeavor asks All Might about what it means to stand at the top. All Might explains that his own role was not merely based on strength. His greatest contribution was the sense of safety and reassurance he provided to society.

ENDEAVOR'S STARTING POINT

Endeavor begins seriously considering what kind of Hero he should become now that All Might is gone. His history of pursuing power and attempting to surpass All Might is increasingly placed against the question of whether he can become someone civilians genuinely trust.

The conversation is especially important because Endeavor is forced to confront the difference between being No. 1 in the rankings and becoming a symbolic protector.

AOYAMA'S STRANGE BEHAVIOR

The arc also includes a smaller character-focused development involving Yuga Aoyama. His unusual behavior toward Izuku creates confusion among his classmates, who begin wondering why Aoyama seems to be watching or communicating with him in strange ways.

The incident provides a lighter school-based sequence following the intense events of the Hassaikai raid and contributes to the development of Class 1-A's interpersonal relationships.

LICENSE REMEDIATION

The course concludes with the trainees successfully demonstrating improved communication and leadership. The experience does not erase their personalities or make them completely calm individuals. Instead, it teaches them to direct their personalities toward Heroic purposes.

The remedial course is important because the provisional licensing system is intended to create Heroes who can function around civilians, not simply combatants with legal authority.

STORY SIGNIFICANCE

The Remedial Course Arc acts as a character-development bridge between the darker Shie Hassaikai storyline and the more hopeful U.A. School Festival Arc. It gives Bakugo, Todoroki, and Inasa an opportunity to correct weaknesses revealed during the provisional licensing examination.

The central lesson is that Heroism includes communication, emotional intelligence, public interaction, leadership, patience, and the ability to make people feel safe. Quirk strength remains important, but professional Hero work requires much more than combat ability.

The parallel discussion between Endeavor and All Might also establishes the next stage of Hero society after the retirement of the Symbol of Peace. Endeavor must determine how to operate as the new No. 1 Hero while confronting the difference between power, reputation, responsibility, and trust.

JOINT TRAINING ARC

The Joint Training Arc centers on a large-scale training exercise between U.A. High School's Class 1-A and Class 1-B. The exercise is designed to simulate real hero operations while allowing students to test their developing Quirks, teamwork, tactical judgment, communication, rescue abilities, and combat strategies against classmates with different abilities.

TIME AND CONTEXT

The arc occurs during the students' first year at U.A. following the U.A. School Festival and the Pro Hero conflict. Hero Work-Studies and internships are being reconsidered after the previous incidents involving the League of Villains and Shie Hassaikai. The students have grown substantially since the beginning of the school year, making the Joint Training exercise a demonstration of how far both classes have progressed.

CLASS 1-A AND CLASS 1-B

Class 1-A is the primary hero class that has repeatedly attracted attention because of its encounters with villains and dangerous incidents. Class 1-B consists of another group of U.A. hero students who have received comparable foundational training but have generally experienced fewer major public incidents.

Class 1-B is highly competitive with Class 1-A. Its students often regard Class 1-A as receiving excessive attention because of their repeated encounters with villains. The rivalry is competitive rather than simply hostile, and the Joint Training exercise gives Class 1-B an opportunity to demonstrate its own abilities.

JOINT TRAINING RULES

The students are divided into teams of four or five and participate in sequential battles. Each team must capture or incapacitate members of the opposing team while working within a designated training environment. The objective rewards effective teamwork, tactical planning, Quirk utilization, mobility, communication, and situational awareness rather than simply measuring individual destructive power.

The exercise also demonstrates that a student's effectiveness depends heavily on how well their Quirk works with the abilities of teammates. A technically weaker Quirk can become extremely effective when combined with complementary abilities and intelligent planning.

HITOSHI SHINSO

Hitoshi Shinso participates in the Joint Training exercise despite being a General Studies student rather than an established member of the Hero Course. Shinso's Brainwashing Quirk allows him to take control of people who verbally respond to him after activation conditions are satisfied. His Quirk has significant psychological and tactical potential, but he has historically been judged negatively because people associate Brainwashing with villainous behavior.

Shinso wants to transfer into the Hero Course and uses the Joint Training exercise as an opportunity to prove that his Quirk can be used responsibly for heroic purposes. He has also developed specialized equipment that changes his voice and allows him to imitate the voices of other people, improving the practical applications of Brainwashing.

SHININ'S BRAINWASHING

Brainwashing activates when an individual responds verbally to Shinso after he addresses them. Once activated, the target can be compelled to obey Shinso's commands. The effect has specific limitations and does not simply grant unrestricted control over another person under every circumstance. Shinso's equipment and psychological tactics allow him to create situations in which opponents respond without realizing that they have satisfied the activation condition.

Shinso's development emphasizes that a Quirk's reputation does not determine whether its user is heroic or villainous. The ethical use of an ability depends on the person using it, their intentions, training, judgment, and willingness to protect others.

CLASS 1-A VERSUS CLASS 1-B

The exercise contains multiple separate team battles. Each confrontation emphasizes different combinations of Quirks and strategies. Class 1-A students are forced to confront the fact that Class 1-B has trained seriously and possesses numerous highly specialized abilities.

First Team Battle features Izuku Midoriya, Tsuyu Asui, Minoru Mineta, and Hitoshi Shinso against members of Class 1-B. The battle demonstrates Shinso's use of Brainwashing and voice manipulation while Midoriya and his teammates attempt to prevent their opponents from exploiting their weaknesses.

Second Team Battle includes Fumikage Tokoyami and demonstrates the interaction between Dark Shadow and environmental conditions. Tokoyami's Quirk becomes particularly powerful under darkness but can become difficult to control when exposed to excessive darkness or other circumstances that increase Dark Shadow's aggression.

Third and Fourth Battles continue the competitive progression, allowing characters such as Momo Yaoyorozu, Shoto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugo, Eijiro Kirishima, Denki Kaminari, and others to demonstrate improved tactical understanding and teamwork.

BAKUGO'S DEVELOPMENT

Katsuki Bakugo demonstrates significant growth in teamwork during the exercise. Earlier in his development, Bakugo often prioritized his own individual performance and aggressively attempted to dominate battles. During Joint Training, he demonstrates that his combat instincts can coexist with deliberate protection and cooperation with teammates.

His approach emphasizes rapid offense, decisive movement, situational awareness, and protecting teammates while maintaining pressure on opponents. His development is particularly important because his personality remains aggressive even as his understanding of heroism becomes more mature.

MOMO YAOYOROZU'S DEVELOPMENT

Momo Yaoyorozu continues developing her Creation Quirk and tactical leadership. Creation allows her to produce nonliving objects from the lipids stored within her body as long as she understands the molecular structure of what she creates. Her effectiveness therefore depends on knowledge, preparation, physical resources, and tactical creativity.

The Joint Training exercise highlights her ability to plan around enemy Quirks, coordinate teammates, and create specialized equipment rather than relying only on raw offensive power.

TOKOYAMI AND DARK SHADOW

Fumikage Tokoyami's Dark Shadow is a sentient shadow-like Quirk that can operate independently while remaining connected to its user. Its power increases in darkness and weakens under bright light. The Quirk can function as both offense and defense, but greater power can also make it more difficult for Tokoyami to maintain complete control.

Tokoyami's experience with Hawks during his earlier internship has improved his understanding of aerial combat and mobility. The Joint Training exercise demonstrates how those lessons can be incorporated into his own fighting style.

ONE FOR ALL AND THE VESTIGES

The most important supernatural development of the arc occurs when Izuku Midoriya's One For All unexpectedly manifests an additional ability. During the Joint Training exercise, the power of One For All reacts to an emotional surge and produces Blackwhip, an ability originating from one of the previous holders of One For All.

BLACKWHIP

Blackwhip manifests as dark energy tendrils that can extend from Izuku's body. Izuku initially has almost no control over the sudden manifestation. The tendrils respond to his emotional state and can become dangerously difficult to restrain. With assistance from Hitoshi Shinso and Ochaco Uraraka, Izuku eventually regains control.

Blackwhip dramatically expands Izuku's mobility and capture capabilities. It can grab objects, restrain opponents, pull Izuku through the environment, change his movement trajectory, and provide additional options for three-dimensional combat. However, uncontrolled activation demonstrates that possessing additional One For All abilities does not immediately mean Izuku can use them safely.

THE VESTIGES OF ONE FOR ALL

One For All contains remnants of the consciousness and wills of previous holders. These vestiges exist within the Quirk and can communicate with Izuku under certain circumstances. The appearance of Blackwhip confirms that One For All contains more abilities than simply the stockpiled physical power Izuku had previously understood.

Izuku learns that the previous holders had Quirks of their own and that those Quirks have been incorporated into One For All. This revelation changes his understanding of the Quirk and establishes that his future growth may involve learning multiple inherited abilities.

ONE FOR ALL'S HISTORY

All Might explains that One For All was originally created through the combination of Yoichi Shigaraki's Quirk and the power forcibly given to him by his brother, All For One. Each successor accumulated power and passed the Quirk forward. Over generations, the Quirk became increasingly powerful and eventually developed the ability to preserve the Quirks of its former users.

TRAINING AFTER THE INCIDENT

Following Blackwhip's manifestation, Izuku recognizes that his emotional control and Quirk mastery must improve. He cannot simply increase One For All's output without considering the consequences of an uncontrolled secondary ability. All Might assists Izuku in understanding the significance of the vestiges and the potential abilities contained within One For All.

OUTCOME

The Joint Training Arc establishes measurable growth throughout both hero classes. Students become better at cooperation, tactical planning, specialized Quirk usage, and adapting to unfamiliar opponents. Shinso receives significant recognition for his performance and moves closer to his goal of entering the Hero Course.

The arc also marks a major turning point for Izuku because One For All is revealed to be a much more complex inherited Quirk than previously understood. The discovery of Blackwhip establishes the foundation for future development of the additional abilities stored within One For All.
