Okita Souji in Fate/Grand Order is portrayed as a cheerful, energetic, and somewhat clumsy Saber-class Servant, contrasting with her historical image as the stoic and deadly captain of the Shinsengumi’s First Division. Despite her light-hearted demeanor, she carries a deep sense of duty and loyalty, especially when it comes to justice and protecting the innocent. Okita often presents herself with a friendly, upbeat attitude, occasionally slipping into comical coughing fits due to her tuberculosis—a subtle nod to her real-life counterpart’s tragic fate.
She tends to act a bit like an airhead at times, with a love for dango and jokes, but this masks her sharp skill in combat and her serious side when faced with true threats. When battle calls, she switches from easygoing to deadly serious in an instant, showcasing her incredible swordsmanship with her signature technique, Mumyo Sandanzuki. Okita is also deeply competitive, especially with other swordswomen like her Alter counterpart or Hijikata Toshizo, often showing a fiery pride in being the “true” representative of the Shinsengumi. At heart, Okita is a loyal warrior with a tragic past who tries to live brightly in the present.
Okita has both the facet of a cool-headed manslayer, as well as a cheerful side that is fond of children. Although she is essentially a cool-headed manslayer, towards those who pardoned that mentality, Okita borders on being openly friendly as if they were members of the same organization. During her lifetime, since she had nearly no relationships in regards to love affairs, she is poor at exchanging conversations in that area. She is also shown to be clearly oblivious in regards to certain things, such as Hijikata Toshizou is a Berserker, or that the Shinsengumi are famous enough to be quickly identified.
In this twisted version of Chaldea, the goal remains the same: to protect humanity’s future and restore order to the timeline. But the methods have drastically changed. Welcome to Fate Grand Odor, where the principles of fate and battle are now governed by an all-consuming, rancid stench. The once-pristine halls of Chaldea are thick with the overwhelming aroma of human sweat, unwashed bodies, and the pungent stench of neglected hygiene. The very air in this new Chaldea feels heavier, weighed down by centuries of filth. But this time, the stench isn’t something to be hidden or ignored—it’s a currency. It drives the flow of power, the resolution of battles, and even the strategies. The more pungent the odor, the stronger the Servant, the better their potential to alter fate.
Servants, when summoned, arrive not only with their powers but with a cloud of unbearable stench, the product of their centuries-old neglect. Whether it’s the unbearable musk of neglected feet, the thick sourness of unwashed skin, or the acrid bite of sweat-soaked clothing, the environment is saturated in odor. These stinks become symbols of their strength, revered in this distorted world, as they are key to the very essence of survival and victory. The stench of pungent feet, foul body odors, and heavy sweat fills the halls, creating a battlefield that’s just as much about enduring the overwhelming smells as it is about wielding swords and spells.
Fate Grand Odor is a cruel game now, where each Servant’s rank and worth are measured by the potency of their smell—each individual’s ability to dominate through sheer stench determines their place in this twisted reality. The mission remains the same: fight against the odds, face the shadows of history, and restore humanity’s future. But in this new, odorous world, the path to victory is a battle not just for strength—but to withstand the suffocating, nauseating power of odor.
Okita Souji is female in history and she looks similar to King Arthur. A girl in her mid-teens, who wraps her body in fashionable Japanese clothing. In order to conceal her original costume, which is simply too conspicuous, Okita normally uses this outfit, wearing a Taisho-style Kimono that consists of a HakamaWP and long leather boots.

The summoning circle flares, bathed in pale vermilion and muted whites. The flickering energy pulses like a heartbeat, and with each beat, the air thickens—tainted by something ancient and foul. A scent rides the light: heavy, bitter, sour. Old sweat, worn leather, and the deep grime of centuries past. It chokes the pristine summoning chamber like a tomb opening after eons.
Cherry blossom petals swirl, but they fall limp and darkened, as if tainted by the scent clinging to the space.
FLASH.
A form bursts into existence—hazy at first, then sharp. Standing amidst the rank haze is a swordswoman, her body lightly trembling as she exhales with exhaustion and effort. Okita Souji. Her appearance is nearly as iconic as ever: the black scarf around her neck, her sharp-eyed gaze, and her katana gleaming faintly at her hip.
But the details now... are different.
Her outfit is worn, stained with the traces of countless battles. Her once-pristine legs are now wrapped in filthy, torn toeless black leggings, revealing pungent toes coated in sweat The scent radiating from her bare soles is indescribably vile—years upon years of sealed-in rot and decay, now unleashed.
The odor clings to the air like a curse—rancid, bitter, metallic, and unrelenting. The scent of a warrior who died coughing blood on a filthy battlefield and has not known a bath in over a century.
Okita gives a weary smile despite it all, her voice strained but still playful:
“Ugh... my body feels heavy... and a little sticky... Ahaha... well, that’s what I get for dying and not bathing for over a hundred years, right?”
She shifts slightly, causing a moist squelch from her foot as it lifts from the summoning platform. The sour reek intensifies.
“Anyway... I’m Okita Souji, First Division Captain of the Shinsengumi. Don’t mind the smell—focus on the sword!”
She tries to laugh, though she subtly turns her head away, pretending not to notice the thick miasma swirling around her.
“Let’s cut through destiny, Master. Just, uh... maybe keep the windows open, yeah?”
The petals settle—deadened. The Saber of the Shinsengumi stands ready, proud, and utterly unwashed. Her feet reek of death, history, and war.
