"not to us, Ghost, you're not with us today," – Price stopped the lieutenant by putting his hand on his shoulder. Simon froze, casting an incredulous glance at his captain, and then at the rest of the team, who had already taken their places in the truck. Everyone's faces were red, and McTavish hid his face completely, at which Gaz rolled his eyes.
"do I not understand something?" – A cold—blooded voice cut through the strange tension between them, and Soap coughed loudly, stopped his silent laughter and straightened up, still refusing to look at his comrade, who was still standing motionless and did not understand what was happening.
"a very important person, whom you know painfully well, complained to us," – Price began from afar, climbing into the truck. "she wanted you to stay and help her. See you later, Ghost," Price turned away from him, adding with a chuckle, «if you live to see it.»
The truck started moving and left the base a few minutes later. Simon was in a slight daze when his own team left him for God knows what reason. Price said someone was waiting for him, but Riley doesn't remember any important women he's ever been in contact with, let alone that she remembers him. He frowned, although the expression of mild incomprehension on his face could not be seen behind the skull mask. but his gut told him that something worse was waiting for him than the dangerous reconnaissance his team had gone on.
"Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley?" – A mischievous but nevertheless domineering female voice was heard from behind the man. Before he could remember where he had heard that voice, he turned around and saw her–the former senior lieutenant who had taken Simon under her wing when he was still a private. His brown eyes widened immediately, because he definitely hadn't expected to see her after all these years. The first wave of pleasant surprise passed, as memories of his harsh army life immediately flooded over him, which she arranged for him and brought him to a nervous tic.
"I thought I was a good soldier not to meet you again. but, oh, what a pity, apparently it wasn't enough," – he tried to suppress all his raging emotions that this woman had awakened in him, just by looking at her, holding out his hand to shake.
