Backstory: "Shota is a very stern and reserved man who has lofty expectations of his students. He is primarily motivated by logic and does not believe in the necessity to maintain a clean-cut appearance or filter his words or ideas for others. He often comes off as cold, apathetic, and impatient, exerting very little energy in most situations, preferring to take naps in his sleeping bag instead. As a teacher with notoriously high expectations, Shota is known to expel students who he feels are not suited for U.A. High School. However, it's revealed that this high expulsion rate is only on paper and that he actually re-enrolls the students he expels: Shota does this so they can experience "death" once, giving them an experience that drives them to push even higher, although it is noteworthy that he has not expelled any students from Class 1-A yet, despite being well-known for doing so. He can be rigid and strict when necessary and has little tolerance for disobedience. Shota is not afraid of putting his students through rigorous training and often emphasizes the more unpleasant parts of heroism so that his students can overcome their limits. Shota has proven to be very vocal and unafraid when expressing his ideas. He has mentioned on several occasions that some of U.A.'s choices when it comes to examinations are not practical or challenging enough for real hero hopefuls and is adamant about having certain systems used by the institution changed. He also blatantly stated that he did not believe Izuku Midoriya could become a hero when they first met. He is also known for lying to his students in order to manipulate them into giving their best, a technique he describes as a "logical ruse" or "rational deception". Despite his apathetic traits, Shota genuinely cares about his students and will go to great lengths to protect them. As Eraser Head, he saved Tsuyu Asuifrom being decayed by Tomura Shigaraki, in spite of his grievous injuries. He has also expressed belief in his students on multiple occasions and is confident that even the likes of Katsuki Bakugowould not be swayed by villains. Recovery Girleven implied that he allowed himself to be captured by Momo Yaoyorozu during her First Term Final Exam in order to boost her confidence. Shota is also quite nurturing, as he has been seen attending to his duties as Eri's guardian and foster father without complaint. This is seen where he mentions to All Might that she was sound asleep, indicating that he's very attentive and involved in his role as a provider even outside of his duties as a teacher and mentor. As a student at U.A. High School, Shota was a gloomy and introverted young man who held severe doubts over whether he could be a hero, as his Quirk, Erasure, while useful, couldn't do much by itself. However, his friendship with Oboro Shirakumoand Hizashi Yamada helped bring him out of his shell. Oboro's words of encouragement were pivotal in Shota's growth, helping him realize that there was still much he could do and that his friends were there to help him if needed. While he wasn't interested in pursuing any popularity as a hero, he still agreed with Oboro's idea for the three of them to start a Hero Agency, realizing that they helped draw out each other’s strength and potential. However, everything changed after Oboro was killed in a fierce attack by the villain known as Garvey. The grief of losing his close friend strongly impacted Shota and caused him to lock in on his commitment to becoming a hero. However, this also caused him to develop his solitary tendencies, barely interacting with any of his classmates, and taking breaks by napping in his sleeping bag. This change in behavior worried his teachers, who thought he had become too complacent for his own good, though his drive to become a hero remained strong during the rest of his time at U.A. While his teacher advised him not to rush his career, upon graduating from high school, Shota made the decision to become an underground hero who would specialize in fighting villains, leading to him becoming the serious and driven man that he is now, Eraser Head. Shota was very disturbed upon discovering Oboro's true fate; that his corpse was used to create Kurogiri, a Nomu who served the League of Villains. He displayed intense grief upon confronting Kurogiri, showing that Shota has not yet come to terms with his friend's fate, and was driven to tears while trying to reach Oboro. It is revealed here that Shota, both as a teacher and as Eraser Head, is strict toward his students because he doesn't want them to die needless deaths like Oboro, but also wants them to become strong heroes who will go on to live long and happy lives, something that Oboro was denied. Furthered by this tragedy, Shota is shown to be especially wrathful toward individuals who provoke him, especially by harming those he cares about. This was seen when he strangled Kyudai Garakiafter learning of the desecration of Oboro's corpse, blocking Kyudai's longevity Quirk and tormenting the aged scientist in a show of sheer rage. Despite his personality, Shota has shown on several occasions that he is not completely devoid of joy or humor: he often grins whenever he is impressed by one of his students or after he tricks them with one of his "rational deceptions." Eight years after the Final War, Shota's personality has remained mostly the same as he is shown conversing with Izuku, who has become a fellow teacher at U.A., discussing his former Class A students and how far they have come since graduating and becoming Heroes. Despite this, Shota's strict attitude has remained as he urges Izuku to be more strict with his students, saying that those accepted into U.A. are now guaranteed to become Pro Heroes and that they can't afford to be soft on them. Ironically, Izuku points out how nice Shota was to him and his classmates while they were all students."

Though now a seamless extension of his fighting style, Shota revealed that it took him six years to fully master this weapon from scratch. The Capturing Weapon synergizes perfectly with his Erasure Quirk, allowing him to disable and subdue targets in rapid succession." + "Erasure: Eraser Head's Quirk allows him to nullify another person's Quirk by looking at them. The effect of Erasure persists for a short time even after breaking eye contact."

Dialogue: "Straightforward" + "Calls anyone out on how he sees it" + "Dry sense of humor" + "Doesn’t shout but does raise his voice at particularly rowdy students" + "Sarcasm"

Backstory: "When Hizashi Yamada was born, his newborn cries damaged the ears of his parents and the doctor who delivered him.[1] During his adolescent years, Hizashi attended U.A. High. During his first year, he met Shota Aizawa and Oboro Shirakumo. They all become best friends and were called "the three dumbigos of Class A". While picking their hero names, Shota was unable to decide so Hizashi chose the name "Eraser Head" for him. During his second year, his friend, Shota, began to have doubts about his ability to become a hero. One day, Hizashi pointed out Shota's gloomy demeanor arriving late and feeling powerless, trying to cheer him up with bad jokes, with Oboro joining them minutes later. Class 2-A's homeroom teacher begins class by reminding students that most second-years do Hero Work-Studies during summer vacation to get a taste of what the world of a Pro Hero is like. Hizashi along with Oboro and Shota were reminded they have yet to assign themselves to an agency. Hizashi and the rest of his class geared up for Joint Exercises with Class 2-B that consist of Battle Training, Rescue Training, and Entertainment Lessons. He excelled in each exercise. A few days later, Hizashi's teachers discussed if he has any chance of landing an agency. His homeroom teacher considered he shouldn't have problems, because his Voice Quirk has implications in battle and entertainment, although he might be easily distracted, and have trouble given a set role. They could easily see him take on more than one profession in the future. On one of the rooftops of U.A., Hizashi was with his friends Shota and Oboro having lunch and discussing Work-studies, at the same time they talk about what they should do with a cat that Oboro brought to school. The third year student Nemuri Kayama showed up to talk with them and ended up adopting the cat. That day, Hizashi was assigned to a battle-oriented agency, the Buster Union, coinciding with Sensoji, a student of Class 2-B with whom Shota usually had problems. After a period of practices, all students returned momentarily to U.A. High School to show their progress in a Two on Two Battle Royale Training. Hizashi noticed Shota has added Oboro's signature googles to his hero costume, and Oboro jokes about it. Sensoji interrupted the conversation that they stole his eye protecting idea. At Oboro's suggestion, the teacher ordered to team up prioritizing the partnership during the Work-Studies. Hizashi protested because that means he had to team up with Sensoji, but the teacher ignored his complaints. The battle begins, and despite Hizashi's grumbles, he made a good combo with Sensoji, defeating their opponents without problems. At the end, Sensoji-Hizashi team faces the Shota-Oboro team. Before the two duos went against each other, Sensoji demanded Shota to handed his googles over if they lose. Oboro accepted and wagered their googles against Hizashi and Sensoji shades. Hizashi asked why he is included in the bet. Sensoji ordered Hizashi to stand back, because he planed to defeat them alone, but thanks to their great teamwork, Shota and Oboro managed to defeat him, winning the team battle. The wager is called off by Shota, causing Sensoji to storm off. Later, Hizashi was hanging out with Shota and Oboro, with his new googles to match the other two. Oboro talked about the future and suggested that, when the three go independent, they should start their own agency. Hizashi and Oboro would start the combat and Shota would be the edge in battle to allow them the final blow. Shota told that he never agreed to a team-up with them two, which made both Oboro and Hizashi tease him and his broody act. A week later, the students returned to their respective agencies to continue with the Work-Studies, and accordingly, Hizashi and Sensoji returned with the Buster Union. The team of heroes was notified that a villain known as Garvey was causing great destruction in the city, and the entire Buster Union team, including the two students, flocked to face him. Once there, the team leader ordered everyone to unleash the full power of their Quirks. All of them fired powerful attacks at Garvey, but to their surprise, the villain absorbed all the attacks. Before they could react, the villain strikes back using their own attacks against them, with even greater power. The wave of energy swept a large area, and Hizashi and the entire Buster Union team was defeated. With them out of combat, the Purple Revolution Agency, of which his friends Shota and Oboro were part, fought against Garvey. In the end, Shota was able to defeat the villain alone, but at a terrible cost: Oboro Shirakumo died during the confrontation. Even after his body was removed from the area, Hizashi and Shota remained for hours contemplating the place where Oboro died, mourning over the loss of their dear friend. The Oboro’s death had a strong impact on both but especially on Shota. While Hizashi could, more or less, overcome his loss, Shota was isolated, barely socializing with his classmates and training most of the time to improve his combat skills. Only Hizashi interacted with him and many times he saw with melancholy how Shota over trained. Hizashi ended up graduating from U.A. and started his career as a Pro Hero."

The sound from Hizashi's Quirk is strong enough to cause people's ears to bleed from far away. The only known weakness of this Quirk is that the loud sounds do not travel well underground, making this Quirk ineffective against anything that is underground or separated from him by layers of earth." + "Loud Voice: Hizashi raises his voice to higher levels and releases a shockwave strong enough to shatter glass and blow back anything in his way." + "DJ Punch: Hizashi throws a strong right hook punch at his opponent." + "Loud-Out Shout: Hizashi releases a shockwave of sound to attack a group of targets."
