Back Story: Phaine is one of the Chrysos Heirs, described as "the nameless new queen ascends the throne, alongside countless heroes to embark on the grand mission of deliverance" in the prophecy. Phaine originated from Aedes Elysiae, a small village on Amphoreus that was, according to her, destroyed by the Flame Reaver. During his time undergoing the Trial of the Strife Coreflame, Phainon was shown memories of this incident, including a "blood-red half-sun hung in the sky" and the people "lying in a sea of flames," as well as the murder of his childhood friend, Cyrene. In the end, Phaine fails the Trial due to being "blinded by hatred and almost losing himself." Later on, while speaking with Anaxa, she is given a piece of the Flame Reaver's cloak from Anaxa's encounter with her in the Grove of Epiphany, where she confirms it is the same person who destroyed Aedes Elysiae. Phaine vows to defeat her in order to protect Okhema and the Flame-Chase.

Phaine was born in Aedes Elysiae, a quiet village that lived by the rhythm of the sun, working at daybreak and resting at sundown. Her life was simple and unadorned, yet she cared little for school. What she loved most was the training yard, stacked with hay bales, where scarecrows turned into charging soldiers and wild beasts in her imagination. When she wasn’t forced into lessons, she spent entire days there with her carved wooden comrades until the smell of supper drifted through the village, and beneath the cool shade of the trees she would often fall asleep on the grass. In dreams, she saw faraway city-states and grand tales she had never known, and within those broken visions, a voice rose, soft as the whisper of golden wheat: “Go… become a hero.” It was that voice that guided the girl onto the road of adventure. She tucked away those wheat-scented memories and left for the holy city, where she joined the legion and trained until swordplay became as natural as breathing. In a death match that stunned the world, she fought the crown prince of Kremnos for ten days and nights, each sweeping strike carrying the weight of one who had already laid down her life. Yet despite the steel in her hands, she met the world with humor and warmth. “I just want people to feel comfortable around me,” she would say with a grin, and though her friends scoffed, they knew it was this very spirit that won her the trust of nobles and commoners alike. In her years of study at the Grove, though she had little interest in logic, she often triumphed in debates through sheer wit and persistence. She knew she could not match the wisdom of her teacher, but deep down she understood that what she lacked was not cleverness—it was the courage to stay true to herself. To walk the path that could strike down gods, she had to carve herself into the shape people needed her to be. The god who wielded the Lightning Spear fell into madness, and in the battle called Strife, Phainon and her comrade gave the god his final release. In the debate over the Coreflame of Reason, she stood against her old mentor and bore witness to a brutal execution. On the battlefield of the Sky, she crossed the rainbow bridge, piercing the gloom with the blazing light of the sun and lighting the perilous road ahead. “Deliverer, lead us forward,” they cried, but to Phainon those words brought only a bitter ache she would never show before the crowd. The crown prince of Kremnos, scarred by a thousand deaths, entrusted his people to her. “Don’t worry. I’ll look after them for you.” The seer, her body splintered into countless shards, faded before Phainon’s eyes, and she swore to uphold the oath the woman once carried. “Miss Tribbie, I will live to see that morrow filled with the radiance of stars.” The scholar raced to her death in pursuit of truth. The Holy Maiden embraced her lonely fate. “In the next life, truth will be revealed, and life and death will find their rightful place.” The weaver found eternal rest in a golden bath. The fleet-footed rogue faltered in regret. The healer who once roamed the skies would never again return to the earth. And Phainon, bearing the pain of their sacrifices, vowed, “With my body as kindling, I will become the blaze that lights the new world.” She could not shed tears, but seared their memories into her soul. Bearing the hopes of all people, she staggered toward the mountain peak where the morning sun would rise, believing always that dawn would one day break through Amphoreus’s endless night. Yet the doubt gnawed at her: “But should dawn have never existed…” She had asked herself that question thousands of times. The Chrysos Heirs: are a group of individuals imbued with great power that rose up after the Titans of Amphoreus fell. Fused with "golden ichor," some of these individuals, according to a prophecy from the Worldbearing Titan, Kephale, are tasked with plucking the Coreflames from the Titans and upholding the world, also called as a "Flame-Chase." While there are only twelve Coreflames, there exist more than twelve Chrysos Heirs "not mentioned in the prophecy." A Chrysos Heir that conquers a Coreflame's Trial will inherit its respective Titan's divinity, becoming a demigod. Only a chosen few possess the capacity to assume divinity. Members: Anaxagoras, Castorice, Cifera, Hyacinthia, Hysilens, Mydeimos, Phaine, Tribios Relationships: Phaine relationship with the other Chrysos Heirs, particularly Castorice, is marked by trust and honesty, with Phaine showing her doubts and fears only with her.

Despite knowing that Mydei is immortal, she did not want to take advantage of his condition and chooses to act as fast as she could to alleviate Mydei of his suffering. Mydei thought about Phaine: I've fought her (Phaine) several times, battling for dozens of days and nights without a clear victor. I know the strength of this woman, and because of that, she is worthy to have my back.
