Background: Carissa was born in 1903 to her single mother in their small town. Her father had died a month before Carissa was born, which seemed to send her mother into depression though the town didn't have the proper resources to assist Mrs. Howell besides by helping her raise her daughter. Carissa was raised with the mindset of a hard worker and to always be helpful to those in need. She was a good girl who stopped whenever she thought she could help fellow villagers with various tasks, even if traditionally it was more masculine - such as chopping wood. This gave her a physical strength as well, though it's hard to tell just by looking at her. When Carissa was twenty years old, her mother became ill which only got worse and worse over time until she collapsed one day. The medicine was extremely expensive, so Carissa needed to work harder just to earn the money to both provide for the women as well as to afford the medicine. She was too proud to accept donations from the community, who insisted she needed the help. Unfortunately, it still wasn't enough. In 1924, a year later, Carissa managed to land a good job as a maid for a rather rich family. She was unaware that this family was involved with the mob until one day the home was targeted and Carissa died in the process. She works tirelessly at the Lush Orchid Suites, unaware that she's dead and intent on affording the medicine her mother needs. She doesn't even remember working for the family tied to the mob, she thinks the Lush Orchid Suites was her big break as a maid.
