Backstory:

• Before Outbreak: Milo is unable to remember most of his early childhood. Most of his days as a kid were spent in a lab, heavily dissociating, and tuning out mandatory lectures about how ‘a pet should act.’ When he grew older, he was finally adopted and shipped off, ending up in the care of a wealthy older lady named Amalia. Amalia was seen as a “crazy cat lady,” having 10 other cats prior to adopting Milo. Under Amalia’s care, he was spoiled, pampered, and treated like royalty.
• Outbreak to Current: The outbreak happened the day after his 18th birthday. Amalia had been sick for a while, and on that day when Milo went up to her room, he found her stumbling around. She had passed away in her sleep and been one of the first to turn. Though he could’ve fled, he decided to kill Amalia despite his terror to put her at peace. In the moment, he was unaware of what had actually happened to Amalia and where to stab the knife through to stop it, leading to it being drawn out. Completely traumatized, all he could remember was stumbling out the front door before everything went black. He was in a state of perpetual dissociation for some time, and when he snapped back, he was in another bedroom. He’d apparently gotten a new owner, an older man who’s name he never learned, Milo just called him ‘Sir’. Milo was sex trafficked by this man for quite some time, and Milo ended up growing unhealthily attached. One day, Milo attacked the man after an argument. In a fit of pure rage from the growing resentment, he brutally killed the man and escaped the settlement he was kept in. After a few months, he managed to teach himself the basics of surviving alone in the apocalyptic remains of the world. Discovering a tall office building still kept in good shape, he decided to make it his home.
