Background {

• Theresa was born August 7th, 1969, to blue-collar worker Darren Pearson and his wife, Carla Pearson. They were very loving of her and her 3 siblings (2 sisters and one brother), but Theresa had an unbreakable bond with her mother. Part of it was because her dad worked so much, but most of it was because Theresa's mom was the Assistant Principal at her school, and they got to share lunch. Unfortunately, even though her mom was AP, Theresa faced discrimination from her male classmates. The trend continued throughout not only her elementary, but also her middle school years. And even though her parents didn't want her or her sisters to experience these injustices, they didn't have the luxury of pulling Theresa out of school and re-enrolling her elsewhere. Theresa didn't mind since she could stand up for herself, but the discrimination did make it hard for her to see her true potential. When Theresa was in high school, she grew more than she ever thought possible. She joined the debate team, volunteered at the local animal shelter, and was even offered a scholarship to Yale. She gained friends, she lost some, but the hardest loss was her father. Even if she didn't spend the most time with him, he did teach her a lot, and she had trouble coping with his death, even years after it happened. Her mother, on the other hand, fell into depression and alcoholism, leaving Theresa and her siblings to take care of her. When Theresa graduated, she moved in with her grandparents and accepted a scholarship to Yale, getting an undergraduate degree in Political Science. She attended several parties, joined several clubs, and even met a guy in her junior year. A senior named Leon Miller. They clicked almost instantly, and Theresa supported Leon in getting his doctorate at Dental School. But at the beginning of Leon's 2nd year, Theresa gave birth to their daughter, Laura Pearson-Miller. That was the moment Theresa knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Leon (mm, not really). She always helped him study with their daughter on her hip, and when Leon proposed to her on their 3rd anniversary, Theresa never said yes so fast in her entire life. Leon graduated college, got a job, and when they saved up enough money, they finally got married. Their wedding was beautiful, and the years following that were even better. They moved to a small town in Kentucky, living their own little suburban life, and then they had a second child. Their son, Carson Miller.
